Hotels in Barkhor Street/Jokhang Temple, Lhasa

My stay at the Potala Palace View Hotel (Potala Palace branch) exceeded all expectations, it was a wonderful surprise! ✨ I was fortunate enough to receive a complimentary room upgrade, granting me a 180-degree direct view of the Potala Palace, with the beautiful scenery of the west completely visible. The hotel staff were incredibly thoughtful, offering a complimentary breakfast and even preparing thoughtful small items like prayer amulets and a tiny nail clipper. My stay felt comfortable and rejuvenating, making my Lhasa trip very reassuring.

As expected from a St. Regis, the location is excellent, very close to Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, and Barkhor Street. They have an independent underground parking garage with both slow and fast charging stations, which is incredibly important! The butler upgraded us to a beautiful, spacious suite, and the complimentary yak yogurt was delicious. The oxygen concentrator in the room was powerful and worked very well. Breakfast was rich and tasty. Ruth's service was exceptional. The drinks at the terrace bar were also great, and you can enjoy the night view of Potala Palace. Overall, it was a very comfortable stay.

I stayed at the hotel for two nights. There was no breakfast, but upon entering, saffron tea was offered. We got a free upgrade to a one-bedroom suite with two large, comfortable beds. When a room became available in the middle of the night, they also provided us with an oxygen concentrator, which allowed us to sleep with the door closed. The service was excellent, and the price was very reasonable.

I was attracted by the ******* style, and was warmly received by the ******* security guard and the young lady at the front desk. They were very kind. I really like the decoration style there. They are carefully crafted and not confusing at all. You can also learn about ******* Buddhist culture while staying in the hotel. Its rooftop terrace has a fresh style and you can look around Lhasa and the Potala Palace in the distance! marvelous!

It's close to Guo Street, making transportation very convenient. The only downside is that the oxygen supply wasn't as good as I expected; I woke up in the middle of the night with a headache.

Excellent location, very close to Potala Palace. The hotel staff are warm, attentive, and very thoughtful. The breakfast selection is extensive. Special thanks to butler Jiang Cuo for his consistently high-quality service throughout our stay. Highly recommended!

The hotel is very easy to find, just beside the road, there is a parking lot. The room was large, very clean and tidy. I observed that the waiter was a guest and a change. Whether it was the front desk lady or the room service lady, the smile was bright, the attitude was very good, and there was a question and answer. The Tibetan old man in charge of the parking lot is very cute and enthusiastic. The lobby has a Tibetan clothing experience and a red check-in point 👍 Walk to Barkhor Street of the Potala Palace and the size of Zhao Temple. It is very convenient to pass through the People's Hospital opposite.

I stayed for four days, so here are my impressions. Check-in: The staff were very welcoming at first, offering hot tea and trying to upsell me by scanning a QR code to upgrade to a premium membership. Since I mainly use Ctrip, I declined, and their attitude immediately turned sour. Over the next few days, most staff greeted guests, but there were exceptions. Accommodation: The room was very dusty. Because I'm allergic to dust mites, my nose and eyes started itching shortly after checking in. Atour's air conditioning has a peculiar wake-up call service: The air conditioner occasionally made strange noises during the day, but this wasn't a big problem (I have video evidence, which I can provide if needed). The most absurd thing was that on the day of departure, at 5 AM, the air conditioner started making strange noises, earlier than my 6 AM alarm! This was probably an extra service; thank you Atour for the thoughtful wake-up call! The room was well-stocked with water and toiletries, and the room cleaning staff deserve praise! The bedding was a bit firm; my friend and I prefer softer bedding, so it wasn't very comfortable. Laundry: I used it once. While the clothes were drying, I left a note asking the staff to retrieve them. They did put them in a bag, but the clothes were still damp when they were put in the bag, including a pair of thick jeans. Hotels I've stayed at before would tumble dry the clothes again, which might be an extra service. This Atour didn't offer that, but they did put them in a bag for me. Generally, it's fine for a one- or two-day stay. If you're looking for better service, you might need to check out a few more hotels.

The hotel is very user-friendly and has a free printer. Simple tasks can be completed in the hotel. The service is also very good. I was assigned a room on the 5th floor, from which I could take photos of the Potala Palace from the corridor. The staff said that a more comprehensive view of the Potala Palace could be taken from the 6th floor. I will take good photos of the Potala Palace next time I have the chance to stay at this hotel. The breakfast is particularly rich with local delicacies. Friends from other places can try the butter tea and ******* noodles. It is also very convenient to travel and the facilities are excellent, with everything you need.

Seriously, folks, you won't believe it! Staying at this so-called 'oxygen-enriched' hotel provided by the travel agency, I was so short of breath and uncomfortable that I barely slept a wink all night. It makes me miss the Shusheng Guizang Manor in Lhasa where we stayed the night before. I spent a long time researching and chose this Guizang Manor for our first night in Lhasa. Since we had taken a high-speed train and a flight and then suddenly arrived at a high-altitude area that day, I was worried that we two 'fragile' youngsters wouldn't cope and it would affect our subsequent itinerary. So, I picked this mid-to-high-priced hotel. Following the idea that 'you get what you pay for,' I thought this place couldn't possibly be bad. And sure enough, after actually staying there, especially after spending a night at another hotel, I realized that choosing the Shusheng Guizang Manor for our first night in Lhasa was the best decision I ever made! I won't even go into how great the hotel environment is; just look at the pictures and feel it for yourselves. We took these because we thought they were beautiful, planning to post them on social media, never intending to write a review. But it's 3 AM, and I'm just so moved, so the pictures are only of the hotel interiors we liked and our breakfast (P.S. Super wide variety of breakfast, both Chinese and Western! 🤩 Key point!!! I want to emphasize and remind friends like us who are visiting Lhasa for the first time: when choosing a hotel, be sure to clearly check or ask what kind of 'oxygen machine' they mean by 'oxygen-enriched.' Because we might not (dare to) wash our hair, but we will definitely need oxygen on the first night! In such high-altitude areas, basically all hotels claim to be oxygen-enriched, but we need to look at the type of oxygen machine shown in the hotel room pictures. Some might just be a portable scattered oxygen machine, which is actually useless, makes noise, and doesn't have an individual oxygen port. Or a slightly better one might have an oxygen port, but only one! Trust me, if you're traveling with two or more people and you book such a hotel because of the price, you'll regret it, friends. Because one oxygen port is simply not enough [crying emoji]. But this Guizang Manor hotel not only has 24-hour diffused oxygen, but everyone also gets a nasal cannula! Each person in the room is provided with an oxygen machine and an oxygen port. Oh my goodness, this literally saved our lives! While saving our lives, the hotel also provided humidifiers, saving our skin. It's super dry here, dry to the point of flaking, so humidifiers are also incredibly important. (P.S. If you have a lot of dampness in your body, disregard what I said – congratulations, you've found your personal paradise, but only for when you first arrive; you'll have to experience the rest for yourself later.) Finally, one more little surprise I discovered after checking in. Exit the hotel, turn left, walk straight for about 100 meters, look up and turn right, and you can directly visit Cuomu Liangfen 🌝 Forgot to mention, the hotel is also close to Jokhang Temple and Barkhor Street. Next time I come to Lhasa, I'm staying here again! I also hope that friends who have traveled to other cities and have recommended hotels can share their experiences and feelings after checking in. For 'fragile' youngsters like us who travel every year, such genuine reviews are truly very helpful 🌹
