This charming hotel has comfortable and spacious rooms, a good indoor pool and spa and a restaurant with fantastic views. The staff are very attentive and helpful. Some of the fruit and vegetables are grown in the hotel's gardens.

Very nice and well-kept hotel, especially the pools, which are fantastic. There is also a sauna and a small gym. The breakfast is very abundant and there are also km0 products. The location is also very good: it is about 20 minutes from Funchal. Recommended!

Great stay at Quinta da Serra! Set in the hills above Funchal, this hotel is a peaceful retreat just 10 minutes’ drive from the coast near Câmara de Lobos. Staff were warm and welcoming, breakfasts excellent, and the spacious rooms (with fridge) very comfortable. Plenty of parking made having a hire car easy, and there are good restaurants nearby if you’re driving. Perfect base for exploring Madeira’s Levadas and charming fishing villages. Mid-November was much warmer than the UK – a lovely escape! --- Would you like me to make an even more headline-style version (just a few sharp sentences), or keep this balance of detail and brevity?

Lovely hotel and staff, gardens are sublime, i would very happily return. Stayed half board, breakfast perfect for us, evening meals on the half board could be quite bland

A very well managed hotel with excellent staff. Food was outstanding. We only spent one night there as we were on a hiking tour around the island but this place clearly stood out. Surely will come back!

Lovely hotel and gardens. Staying in January. No one in the hotel, no staff, no service , horribly depressing. Food! What can I say, if you want to experience strange combo, this is the place. If not run. I am 60 years old. Never wrote a review. But i though they was a first for any thing. PS Horribly expensive .

I have just returned home having enjoyed a wonderful Christmas at this unique hotel. The situation and extensive gardens are truly stunning and the staff are highly professional and helpful. The food (I was on half board) was exquisite and the five course Christmas Eve dinner was a culinary tour de force. I returned to my room following a morning walk on Christmas Day to find three presents lying in wait: a madeiran molasses cake, a box of delectable biscuits and a bottled of the Quinta da Serra's delightful home-brewed cider, a lovely touch. The relative remoteness of the hotel may not suit all, but the hotel does provide an excellant shuttle service to Funchal and the 96 bus stop is right by the hotel if you fancy a trip to the beautiful fishing village of Camara de Lobos. I also took a short taxi ride to the Boca da Corrida viewpoint above the hotel with spectacular views over the Nuns Valley. The large indoor pool, jacuzzi and sauna are also superb. upon arrival we were informed, that due to a rally (as in with cars) on our day of departure, the roads to the hotel would be closed. They didn't have the courtesy to let us know before we arrived, so that we could decide if we wanted to change the reservation. Consequence, we would have to leave an hour earlier to be able to catch our flight. We cancelled the 2nd night because of this, but didn't get a refund for stay or dinner. Dinner on our 1st night was great and the staff there as well.

A lovely hotel in a magnificent garden. The new part has been skillfully blended with the original British Consul's residence. A bit of a steep drive to get there. Upon arrival late at night, we were greeted by a receptionist who insisted that we settle the bill right away for the 2-night stay, although we had already paid for the first night a month ahead of our trip. Reluctantly, she accepted that we wait for check out. Apart from this difficult beginning, the stay was pleasant, the dining room offered varied and copious breakfasts with a variety of exotic fruit juices, and the bedroom and bathroom were large and well maintained. The dinner at the hotel restaurant, which uses vegetables and fruit from their own organic gardens, was also pleasurable.

Great staff. Super friendly, especially the lady at reception. Amazing estate. Lovely room incl. fridge, electric kettle, slippers, bathrobe, plenty of towels, great beds. Slept like a baby and felt really good in this sanctuary. Didn't use the swimming pool, sauna or jacuzzi, looked amazing. Breakfast was great, too.

An excellent hotel that more than deserves its 5-star rating! Delicious food, both breakfast and dinner. Excellent facilities (swimming pool, sauna, fitness center), which you can also use when the weather isn't great. A beautiful, large garden surrounds the hotel.

Hello. Fantastic experience. I only stayed one night. I was able to enjoy the scenery through all four seasons: fog, rain, cold, and scorching sun. Top-notch staff. Facilities 💪 10/10. I will definitely return. Keep going.

A beautifully designed hotel in the mountains with a wonderful atmosphere and breathtaking views of the valley and the sea! A tranquil oasis with a meticulously maintained, expansive garden where they even grow their own vegetables. The restaurant is bright and also boasts this unparalleled view. It's beautifully set with white tablecloths, and the food is of outstanding quality. Everything is very tasteful and fresh. There's live music in the evenings, and guests can choose between a set menu and a buffet. Breakfast is also a dream... sparkling wine, fresh juice, egg dishes served at the table, pastries, a variety of fruits and grains, and wonderfully fresh-baked bread, etc. There's a lovely, large indoor pool, a jacuzzi, and a sauna. Personally, we found the pool too cold, so we only swam a couple of laps and then warmed up in the sauna, but that's certainly understandable given current energy prices. It must be fantastic at a warmer time of year. Unfortunately, the bathroom only has a bathtub with a shower, but perhaps that's not the case in all rooms.
