We reluctantly decided to come to this hotel on a half board basis with no option to upgrade, but we have had an amazing time. The hotel is predominantly German but the people we met were so friendly and helpful. The staff were great especially Jesus, great manager who had only your happiness at heart. The beach is to die for, just like being in the Caribbean! The prices at the beach bars are very reasonable too. We cannot fault the place and we are already planning our next visit and we haven't left yet we just love this place! When you visit try to get a high floor as the views are great, lovely sea view plus sunsets are Happy holidays peeps

Probably the best location you could wish for, on a beautiful beach, a short walk to a few bars and shops, hardly any traffic noise. The hotel is really well laid out, it has everything you need, the rooms are spacious and clean with large balconies but as others have said, could do with a refurb, I would recommend paying extra for a sea view, if you go with TUI don't pay the extra at a shop, it was double the price I got on line. The drinks are reasonably priced, the food is good with plenty of choice. It is catered mainly towards German guests but this is not a problem, the entertainment is very "Eurovision". The pool area could do with some music during the day as it is very stale during the day, not blaring out but in the background. Recommendations .... ask for a sea view, not too high as the lifts are very slow and you do have to wait a long time so the stairs are quicker. We would definitely go back, probably not with TUI though, you still end up on a budget airline.

Our 4th visit albeit our 1st in 9 years. The good:- The staff - superb - we recognised many of them from previous visits Location - next to a lovely sandy beach that stretches for miles Large bedroom and balcony Worth paying extra for a sea view Slept well with minimal nighttime noise The food - generally very good The not quite so good:- The 2 lifts - temperamental, with one regularly out of action The pillows - too soft - no alternative Safe charge - €36 for 2 weeks Hotel is showing its age, no real modernisation in 9 years Would we return? - Yes, if they can sort the lifts out!

The good bits. Great location on the beach and close to the Spa if you take the short cut through the Spa car park. Exceptionally clean and wonderful polite staff everywhere. Plenty of sunbeds. Just place your provided towels where you want them. Go back hours later. No one cares. Good WiFi connection but comes up as not secure. Big room and balcony. Tea making facilities refreshed daily. Fridge provided. Safe €3 a day which should be free in A TUI BLUE hotel. Food was hot with a good selection. Pasta overcooked. Drinks are very expensive. One of the best beaches ever. Bad bits. This is a German hotel so if you are a Brit think twice. Lacks atmosphere. No background music anywhere. Most entertainment in German. No English TV channels except Discovery and Nat Geo. No English news channel. Very few Brits here. Resort is dull. More of a shopping centre. So few quality bars and restaurants. Perfect if you want a week of peace and quiet

The Hotel Calypso is run by the TUI group, so is clean, well-appointed and has great efficient staff. We were late arrivals, so it was a pleasant bonus to be told at check-in that a plate of food was left in the dining room for us - a great start to the holiday. Location is excellent as the beach is just across the walkway, local cafes & bars are a short walk and as Calypso is south facing, the sun shines into apartment for most of the day. The only minor quibble is the absence of hair shampoo - current airline restriction mean we all try omit as much as we can, so shampoo in addition to the shower gel would be nice.

Amazing hotel. Food choice and quality excellent.Room was enormous with a beautiful large balcony with amazing views. Beach was just outside the gate. Staff very helpful and friendly Already planning another visit Would be helpful if large containers of water was available to buy within the hotel as it was a uphill struggle to get it.. Thank you for a lovely holiday

My spouse and I stayed at the Calpyso for 1 week in early September. We both really enjoyed our stay. We arrived on my spouses birthday. They kindly left us a gift of a bottle white sparkling wine, which made us feel very welcome. There is not a great deal to do in Morro Jabel, after 2 days we spent the rest of the time lounging and sipping Mojitos on the 4 poster rattan beds and in the jaccusi on the rooftop terrace. The hotel guests are mostly German, and Morro Jabel appeals to them, as their former Chancellor, Willy Brandt popularised it as a holiday destination. Note, there are many German nudists on the beach. Due to the shape of the hotel, there are two funiculars to access most rooms, which is a pleasant novelty. The room sizes are excellent, the belconies are spacious too, with great views of the beach and sea. The food is wonderful. We had caviar, smoked salmon, steaks cooked to perfection and many other great items. To those saying negatives about the food: If you want to eat congealed baked beans, hash browns and brown sauce, why not stay in the UK? My only negatives for the hotel are the cleaning and the furnishings. I spotted some cobwebs and leaves scattered within corridors to the bedrooms. The furnishings are slightly dated and worn. Perhaps it is time to replace furniture, carpets and decor. These negatives are only slight and did not impact on the holiday very much. The hotel is a great place for a relaxing week away, but due to the lack of activities in Morro Jabel, not much more. We really enjoyed the week.

Lovely hotel and very friendly staff from Reception Staff, Waiting on Staff and Room Maids. Very high standards in dining area. Nice hot food and plates getting cleared when finished. The bedrooms are also nice with everything you should need for your holiday Large balcony with sunbeds with padded seats and table. We didn't pay for a Seaview but were well happy with our room No. 506. The hotel looks straight onto the beach.

The place is tired, but comfortable. Big rooms, large balcony, great views of the bay. We went to crash for the week and it did everything we needed it to do. The ‘chill out’ terrace was quiet, with only the odd few people using it, most tended to use the loungers around the pool. Good access to the beach and town. Food was acceptable, but there was minimal variation. Predominately mainland European guests, mainly from Germany, but if anything it made it more relaxing as we were not drawn into conversations! Would return, but glad we paid for the 1 hour private transfer from the airport to the hotel and back, as I couldn’t have coped with sitting on a busy noisy free coach transfer.
