The hotel is large and spacious, with three interconnected buildings featuring an onsen, or hot spring, on the sixth floor.
The breakfast room's capacity is somewhat limited; we were seated on the third floor, a ballroom repurposed for breakfast, while the typical restaurant is on the second floor. Although the food is the same, the third-floor location lacks the ambiance and view of the second floor. While I understand that the hotel has many guests during peak hours, allowing guests to choose their seating would be preferable. We are not in a rush and are willing to wait; Japanese guests tend to eat quickly anyway.
The room and hot spring were satisfactory, though unremarkable.
The hotel's location is not convenient to the train station. If you are traveling by train, this should be considered, even though a shuttle bus runs hourly.

Stay at Hanajoan Main Building, which is known as the No.1 hot spring in the mountains. (Opened in 1993)
Free cars will pick you up from the bus station or high-speed rail station. A welcome drum will be played in the lobby upon check-in, and snow boots will be thoughtfully prepared for guests to wear when going out. The lobby is filled with dolls arranged like a mountain, with a strong Japanese style.
The room has an open-air bath and a small study room (unfortunately, people who come to take a bath probably don't have time to use the study room. There is Ishibashi no Yu on the first floor of the main building, a viewing bath on the 7th floor of the annex, and a bath for women only. Dinner is Japanese and Western. Choose Japanese food, it's delicious and filling. The double room comes with 4 store exchange coupons, which can be exchanged for 2 cans of Alpine milk and 2 ice creams.
Situated in Takayama and only 35 km from Takayama Station, Hirayukan features accommodation with mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking. This 5-star ryokan offers a 24-hour front desk and a lift. The ryokan has family rooms. The ryokan will provide guests with air-conditioned units offering a wardrobe, a kettle, a fridge, a safety deposit box, a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom with a bidet. At the ryokan, units have a seating area. A buffet breakfast is available each morning at the ryokan. A minimarket is available at the ryokan. Among the hot spring villages in Okuhida, Hirayu Onsen boasts the longest history. One of its most renowned features is a special hot spring that blends four different sources and uses a free-flowing system, meaning the water is not recycled, allowing you to enjoy the purest and freshest onsen experience. The facility includes eight different baths, each with its own unique charm—two open-air baths, a garden bath with a thatched-roof gazebo, and an indoor bath in the main hall. Soaking in these waters while feeling the seasonal changes of Okuhida all around you is truly an exceptional and unforgettable experience.
At our facility, guests with tattoos or body art, regardless of size, are kindly asked to refrain from using the public bath.

One of the nicest ryokan I have ever tried, with great dinner and breakfast buffet, yet affordable price. The only drawback of this ryokan is that my room was located in other building which was quite far away from the entrance and there was no elevator in that building, so you might need to prepare for smaller luggages.

Remote location but near to shinhotake ropeway.
Very quaint hotel. We stayed in a Japanese room.
We did not have dinner in hotel and have to step out when they make the bed for the evening. We were told we can stay in the room but felt that we got in the way. They were very efficient and it was done in under 15mins. The hotel was small and there were 2 different wings. It’s a bit troublesome to take 2 diff lifts to go to dining area/bath. Front desk was earnest but non english speaking.
The outdoor baths were really nice. You have to take a small single cabin inclined elevator that you operate on your own to get there. Otherwise a short climb/ stairs.
Breakfast was splendid and one of the best we had experienced during our trip. Ingredients were fresh and the portions were just nice.

The hotel provides a shuttle bus to and from JR Takayama Station. This time I also booked a one-night stay with two meals. The buffet in the evening was very crowded, and if you are traveling alone, you will only be arranged in a corner, not by the window where you can see the snow. The hot springs are also average, and there are too many people, so the experience is poor. Compared with this price, the cost performance is not high
Set amid a beautiful landscape in Okuhida Onsengo hot-spring area, Yamazatonoiori Soene offers beautiful rooms in a Japanese style with river or garden views. The property is 80-munite bus ride from JR Takayama Station, and Fukuchi Yurimizaka (HO41) bus stop is a 3-minute walk away.

All rooms have access to a shared bathroom, while some rooms also come with a private toilet. Slippers and Yukata robes are provided. Some rooms have Japanese-style bedding on a tatami (woven-straw) floor, while others have Western-style beds.
A set menu for breakfast is provided and Kaiseki (traditional multi-course meals) is available, but will need to be reserved 3 days in advance.
Guests can relax in the indoor and outdoor baths with its natural hot spring water. Kashikiri (private baths) are also available and can be reserved for free.
It is a 15-minute drive to Shin Hodaka Ropeway and a 30-minute drive to Kamikochi area. Mount Norikura is a 60-minute drive from the property.

♨️Let’s talk about private soup first♨️
3️⃣Private hot spring pools, both indoors and outdoors
It is very private and has 2 indoor pools of 35 degrees and 44 degrees.
35 degrees is too cold, 44 degrees is simply anti-human, and it can’t get any colder.
But the temperature outside is very suitable. Basically, you can soak outside
♨️Let’s talk about public soup♨️
There are 2️⃣ places in total, one is a forest hot spring, divided into men and women (Kama hot spring and rock hot spring bath)
15:00-20:00 👨牜热👩rock soup
20:30-10:00 👨rock hot spring 👩 煜 hot spring
Focusing on an all-round experience, Kamayu obviously has a better view (Picture 1️⃣)
The other place is the large bathhouse, which is also separated for men and women and can take a bath.
A little inferior in comparison, but there are only 12 rooms in total.
It can be said that the rhythm of the venue is basically reserved, so you can enjoy it as much as you want.
The pricing can be considered very conscientious, 💰2200, one room, two meals
Dinner: robatayaki, sashimi, grilled meat, soup, dessert, full set
We also ordered sake, which really filled the atmosphere!

My husband rated the accommodation experience with the highest rating for this trip.
The location is excellent, just below the Shinhotaka Ropeway, which is very convenient for us with a tight schedule.
The room is a traditional Japanese tatami, and the two meals are amazing. When checking in, you will be informed of the dinner time and restaurant, and you can choose the breakfast time. The restaurant and seats for dining are fixed, which is very considerate.
The food is rich and the dining experience is very good. The open-air bath is great! Bathing in the snow is a choice of life.
The only small suggestion: the air conditioning temperature in the room cannot be adjusted. It is still hot even at the lowest setting. The children and I can't fall asleep, but it will be very cold in the early morning after turning it off, after all, it is a windy and snowy day outside.

Nice experience. It’s a traditional Japanese style architecture. Offer individual and outdoor hot spring, you can have a chance to enjoy hot spring with snowy weather.
We had breakfast and dinner for 2 days. Delicious and various foods included sashimi, beef, and local dishes, but a little salty. (We think Japanese like salty and its position is at high altitude.
Spacious room, Soft bed and hard pillows.

A small hot spring hotel. I really feel the hotel's care. Compared to more prosperous areas, I prefer this kind of remote small hotel. I feel that the hotel wants to do every place carefully. Although the price is cheap, there are many details. Everything is well done. For example, there is a self-service snack and drink area in the lobby, which is available 24 hours a day. Yukata for children is also provided. The hotel rooms are very clean. I wonder if they have been renovated, so the rooms are very new and clean.

The location is a bit far from the station, and you need to walk a short slope, but because it is at a high position, you can see the entire mountain. Sitting on the small terrace in the room drinking tea and looking at the peaceful vista is very healing. The breakfast is of a normal standard. , not too bad, could be better. The overall layout of the room is okay, but a bit small. The bathroom has a sense of age. You can feel the vicissitudes of life. The service attitude is very good. There are a lot of Japanese comics in the corridor. Overall, it is good.

CCeline CSYThe host was really nice and the amenities are great, the blanket was also so fluffy. The whole vibe was cozy and I would definitely love to stay here again if given the chance to.
They also provide free shuttle service to the JR Takayama station in the morning at 7:15, 8:15, 9:15.
CCHENHUICozy family hotel, it’s super quiet when I live in. During the whole stay, only one of us has a family bath and 5 pools casually, watching the snow fall on my shoulders quietly, life is happy! It is very suitable for children. Breakfast and dinner are very supportive. It is close to Shinhotaka and the ski resort, and it is quieter than Hirayu.
GGwen (HONGKONG)Great onsen Japanese style lodging. Big complex with great traditional onsen provisions. Very spacious Japanese room. Good Japanese style breakfast and dinner meals.
5 to 10 minutes walk to main bus station which have various routes to tokyo centre, Nagoya, Takayama and Kamikochi
GGuest UserThe hotel service is very good! Because of the flight delay and the long customs clearance time, we arrived at the station near the hotel at 9 pm, almost 3 hours later than the original time. The hotel still sent a car to the station to pick us up and left a delicious dinner for us. I was touched and grateful! The hotel is very clean and the service attitude is good! The room rate includes breakfast and dinner, each meal is super rich and cost-effective. In general, it is awesome 👍🏻 Worth recommending 👍🏻👍🏻
GGUOWEIBreakfast was good, but the Japanese-style room 2010 was a bit dated! On February 2nd, the Shirakawa-mura Lighting Festival, the house price doubled more than 3,000 a night! There is a theft in booking a room in Japan: the room is charged according to the number of people. This room can accommodate 3 to 6 people. You can book 3 people for 4 people and 3 or 4 people for 5 people. living!
GGuest UserThe room was spacious and spacious, making it very comfortable. The free-flowing hot springs in the observation bath in the room were very nice. The only amenities are the provided shampoo set, towel set, and toothbrush, so you need to bring your own, but Samue and tanzen are provided, and the room comes with a hot spring bath, so I think the price is very reasonable. Dinner will be prepared for you if you make a reservation in advance. There were quite a few people staying multiple nights, so I'd like to plan on staying multiple nights next time.
Although there were no Japanese staff, I was able to spend a comfortable time without any problems with polite customer service.
GGuest UserAn onsen ryokan in a remote place. It seems to be stuck in the 1960s, but that's what its charm is! This is an unassuming, humble onsen with basic facilities, but the staff was very friendly and accommodating, and the food was superb. It's a great stop on a multi-day trip.
