We stayed here for a 2 nights on a Distant Journey (DJ) tour of Japan. Arrived around 5pm by coach from Mt Fuji area. Check in was well organised but it was after 6pm before our luggage arrived in our room on 8th floor. We were meant to meet our TM and guide between 7 and 7.30 for advice on where to have dinner. Map in hand we turned right outside hotel and proceeded into town. Recommended restaurants were very difficult to find. Any we did find, including those not mentioned, were either fully reserved or full or, as time passed towards 8pm, were closing. We headed back to the hotel to find buffet option was £45 or set Japanese meal ¥8,300 (£53). Many of us went to a 711 across the road from hotel and bought ready meals, which they heated for us in microwave, beer or wine and we retreated to our rooms. The street lighting is poor so navigation from a map was difficult. Breakfast was like school dinners but passable. Bar closes at 7pm!!! If you are reading this and are on a JD tour get to town early to stand a chance of eating out. A group did find a restaurant very close by hotel before the bridge on opposite side of road to 711 but the name unrecognisable as in Japanese, photo attached.

We were 4 to, this traditional Japanese hotel, in a single room with tatami and sleeping on the ground. Typical Japanese breakfast and dinner equals two days. We take advantage of,go to the onsen. A very good place and a good value but in need of updating and refurbishment. Liked · Great staff who could not do enough for you. The location is perfect. Food for dinner was delicious, but the service was very rushed and there were several miscommunications with the staff. breakfast was good but not great. Lots of amenities in the room. The lobby. The holiday decorations and the outside terrace were lovely. Super clean. The free coffee, tea, soft drinks, and raman in the lobby were a wonderful touch. Location is perfect and veiw from the room was wonderful. Disliked · Decor was very dated in the room and somewhat depressing. Toilet paper and towels were both terrible; they were cheap and awful. Such a shame for such a nice place to cut corners on a minor but important detail. Little or no storage in the room except for some hangers.

Hotel is in a very good location being very near to the Old Town where the attractions and restaurants are. However there is limited parking space, and we had to park in a public car park 100m away. Staff were friendly, but communication was a little difficult as they were not very conversant in English. Overall nice hotel.

A new hotel just built in front of Takayama station. It is a stay type hotel, but artists are decorated everywhere and fashionable. This time, Superior twin. The room itself is not particularly characteristic, but there is a sofa on the window side and it can be relaxed. This sofa is a bed, so you can stay for three people. Electric pots, empty refrigerators, washing dryers, microwave ovens, etc. are also complete. Recommended for long stay. The bathroom is small in the unit. Especially the toilet is small. There is a comfortable public bath, so I wanted to relax the toilet part only by shower. Amenities are only toothbrushes, and amenities are available on the first floor. Shaving, brush, tea bags such as tea and green tea, cosmetics, cotton swabs, cotton, etc. The public bath is also fashionable with designer specifications. There is also an open-air bath. We departed from Osaka to Takayama late, and chose this hotel because it is located opposite the JR station and Takayama bus station, which is very convenient. The staff was a bit indifferent when checking-in, but I didn't want to talk to you, but English was OK. The hotel room is small and a bit old, the basic facilities are provided, but it is still clean. Our room rate included breakfast. Unexpectedly, the breakfast quality was good. I ordered a Japanese breakfast with fried salmon and alpine famous things, Pu Ye Wei, very delicious and full. The area of Takayama is not very large, so you can visit the main tourist and shopping locations of Takayama City.

Country Hotel Takayama is the perfect home away from home in Takayama, Gifu Japan.This hotel is located right across the Nohi Bus Terminal which is right beside to Takayama Train Station. When you get off from the bus, you will immediately see the building. Aside from their perfect location, this hotel also has a KONBINI (are Japanese convenience stores) Family Mart at the ground floor, open 24 hours. Morning markets, Sakurayama Hachimangu Shrine, Old Town Street, Hida Kokubunji Temple and Nakabashi bridge are a few tourist location you can easily access by walking (10-15 minutes) from the hotel. I was here last February 24 to 26, 2020. The room is quite spacious for me, got a single room type but I think it can accommodate 2 people in it. I was able to booked it online through Agoda.com for Php 4,024.78, not bad! It has complete basic amenities you can find in a room including a comfy sleeping robe. Room is super clean and smells so good. Considering I wrongly booked the smoking type room. The only downside I had about the room was that the heater was broken. It was so hot inside, thanked God it was winter time so I just slightly opened my window. So cold breeze from the outside can get in. Overall, Country Hotel Takayama is HIGHLY RECOMMEND aside from their perfect location. Staff are very good, speaks English and really helpful and accommodating. Their Manager helped me booked a taxi who is going to picked me up at the highway on my route to Gujo Hachiman. Because taxis in Gujo Hachiman are booked a day before your arrival and they don’t speak English at all. And If you’re a Filipino, you are most likely going to bumped into one of our kababayan who is working on this hotel. So far, she’s the only Pinoy here and she speaks Bisaya, from Davao City. I hope this help post helps you in your future travels to the beautiful City of Takayama.

The hotel is only 1 block across the JR station with many restaurants around the area, less than 10 minutes leisure walk to the historic area. Room is very well maintained and spacious, with comfortable beddings, strong showers. The hotel is very responsive with my emails and questions, I feel that they are really trying their best to accomodate my request with occupant change that we really appreciate. Breakfast is adequate with a good selection of hot dishes, Japanese and continental. Overall a great hotel in Takayama

I used it on a trip to Gifu. The location is very close to Takayama Station for 15 minutes walk, and there are many paid parking lots nearby even if you come by car, and there is a contract parking lot of facilities (the contract parking lot is a reservation system) The facilities were very clean and I chose the cheapest room, but all the toilets and showers were clean and cozy. Free WiFi In addition to the room, there is a shared space for facilities users called hot springs, open-air baths and lounge rooms. Hot springs and open-air baths have a reservation table at the entrance of the facility and write a room number in 9:00~10:00, and you can rent the time. In the lounge room, there is a breakfast venue, a counter, a table, a digging, and a yogibo (low repulsion cushion). In addition, you can buy a bento in a convenience store, such as a drink bar, a barista (coffee maker) microwave oven, and a stove in the lounge room. Also, this facility can be accessed and accessed 24 hours, so you can go to nearby convenience stores and facilities at any time. I would like to use it because I think I will come to Gifu next month again because it is very good place.

We were lucky to stay at Mercure Takayami on their opening night. Everything about the hotel was above our expectations. Rooms were a very comfortable with attention to detail. Having USB and USB C charging ports for our electronics next to the bed was very convenient and meant we didn't need to search for our Japan power adaptors. This hotel has been well designed with a focus on local traditional carpentry and joinery skills. When you book this hotel make sure you book a room that includes access to the private Onsen. We had an open-air experience while we watched the snow from our private onsen. Breakfast had an extensive range of Tradition Hida dishes and Western choices, with different options available each day. This was a great way to try Hida Beef Curry and Hida chicken cooked on a traditional grill. Staff were very helpful going above and beyond with their dedicated and personal service, even searching the internet for me to find a store that sold Yama Cola. We will be back to stay again and will try to stay longer next time.

It is close to Takayama JR Station, and it is also very eye-catching and easy to find. It has a good design and is a good value for money in a hotel. The only problem is sound insulation. First of all, everyone should keep quiet as much as possible, so it is not convenient to open the box (this is something that needs to be overcome by yourself). Everything is perfect, big room with private bath. Also there is a small kitchen and microwave in room so that we can cook simple food like noodles and heat up the instant food we bought. No need to eat outside. Room is comfort, and the TV is smart TV which we can watch netflix or youtube. We definitely had great time there. Moreover, the location is good, only few steps away from train station and historical street. Highly recommended

There are a lot of ”supers” about this hotel: - Super nice design. There are a lot of hotels in Japan that are on the cheaper end of mid-range that fail in the design category, but not the Eph Takayama. - Super close to the train station. It was an easy walk with our carry-on, wheely suitcases. - Super close to old town and the various Takayama attractions. - Super breakfast and coffee/tea/cocoa station. The breakfast was more like lunch (panini, salad, and soup), but it was all freshly made and delicious. There was also a coffee/tea/cocoa machine that was available to guests from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. - Super convenient to have coin laundry available in the hallway. We took full advantage of this! If we ever go back to Takayma I won't bother looking for anywhere else to stay - the Eph it is!

The mountain is very small, and it is very close to the JR station. Turn right and walk straight out of the station. As everyone mentioned, prepare hot water in advance. The air conditioner is turned on in advance, and it is really warm in the cold winter. Although the pool on the sixth floor is not large, but there are fewer people, it is a private booking every time you go.

A very nice hotel, which is only in operation for 1 year and is located in the mountains. The rooms are very bright and modernly furnished. We were stayed there for 2 nights during our tour. ６ We used it at work in the month. The front desk was very helpful with kindly explaining the recommended store for dinner (drinker). The joint bath had time constraints, but I used it early in the morning. The washroom is a small bath with only ３ places, but when I used it, I was alone, so I was able to enter it relaxingly. Breakfast was a lunch box for corona convenience. Unfortunately, Bento and miso soup were not delicious, but they left most of them. The accommodation fee is cheap, and there are many taverns and ramen shops around, and I think it is a convenient inn.
