Mountain View Hotels in Seogwipo

I've been back home for a week, and I finally have time to write a detailed review of this hotel, named after the ancient Silla kingdom. First, the good points, which are the only things I found worthwhile. The hotel is built into a cliff, boasting unique natural scenery. It cleverly integrates lush vegetation into one side of the hotel, creating a rich and layered temperate island characteristic. Strolling through it is incredibly relaxing. In the distance is the surging sea, and nearby are cliffs and a sandy beach – being there is truly enjoyable. Now that I've covered the good, here are the things I found intolerable and unacceptable: 1. The room the hotel provided was not the one I booked. I had reserved a mountain-view room with a balcony, but they gave me a room without a balcony, and the window overlooked a parking lot. 2. After I requested a change, the hotel moved me to another room. It did have a balcony, but it was still near the parking lot. 3. What made me even angrier was that the hotel clearly hadn't cleaned thoroughly. In the new room, I found uncleaned hair in the sink and water stains in the bathroom. The picture shows hair in the basin. 4. After communicating with the hotel again through Trip.com, the hotel staff at the front desk was expressionless throughout, with dull eyes and mechanical service, showing no apology whatsoever. They showed me another room that was even worse than the current one. I had no choice but to ask the hotel staff to clean it again, and I ended up waiting for nearly two extra hours because of this. 5. The hotel breakfast was terrible. The local specialty food was extremely unappetizing and hard to swallow. The coffee used low-quality beans. There was an area that seemed to be for Chinese food, which was completely unrecognizable. The fruit selection was basic, truly basic. The only edible options were the Western food and ice cream, which were actually good. Perhaps you might think my review is harsh, but given the room rate I paid, I feel I have the right to be this critical. And for breakfast, at nearly 300 RMB per person, honestly, 'basic' is the only word I can use, especially for the fruit. The entire staff at the Shilla Hotel seemed to have a grim, tense, and deliberately distant demeanor, which was genuinely off-putting. Overall, I'd say this hotel completely fails to meet expectations. Many areas need significant improvement. If I had to choose again, I definitely wouldn't stay here.

This hotel exceeded our expectations! The service was excellent. The greeters at the hotel entrance and the restaurant manager spoke a little Chinese, and communication in basic English was seamless. I highly recommend the Charlotte room, which offers a distant sea view and directly faces the pool. From 7 PM onwards, there's a music carnival with a fantastic atmosphere. Following the signs towards the windmill and over the back hill leads to the Chinese Beach area. The waves here are strong, perfect for surfing, but not suitable for swimming. However, you can enjoy a walk on the beach. It was a bit too hot and strenuous for hiking in August, but it should be very pleasant in spring and autumn. The Lotte breakfast buffet deserves five stars – the seafood soup with fresh langoustines was a huge, delightful surprise! The Teddy Bear Museum and the largest Starbucks are just a 5-minute walk from the hotel. There's also BHC fried chicken and a 7-Eleven nearby, which is very convenient. I'll definitely stay here again on my next trip to Jeju; it's much better than hotels in the city center. This is how a proper vacation should feel!

First, my initial thoughts: I was prepared for a 'prison-like' room before checking in, but staying here, I actually found the room small but cozy! Coupled with other advantages, the actual experience exceeded my expectations. Now, for the pros: 1. **Rich Community Facilities:** Besides the accommodation buildings, there's a standalone coffee shop, a standalone small bar (received a free beer voucher upon check-in), a GS25 convenience store (the female staff member was very friendly), a gift shop (at the front desk), and a breakfast/lunch restaurant (you can get a discount if you purchase breakfast at the front desk a day in advance). 2. **Excellent Location for Olle Trail 1:** It's very convenient for those doing Olle Trail Route 1. You can walk to Gwangchigi Beach, the starting point of Route 1, in about 10 minutes. 3. **Friendly Staff:** All the service staff were very friendly and could communicate well in English. 4. **Spacious Bathroom:** Although the room itself was small, the bathroom and shower area were quite spacious. 5. **Free Airport Shuttle:** This was an incredibly valuable service. I took the 10:30 AM shuttle to the airport. No reservation was needed, the bus arrived on time, and it took about an hour to reach the airport. Areas for improvement: 1. **Lack of Hooks in Room:** My room had no hooks, except for two small ones in the toilet. I suggest adding one more in the main room without taking up extra space (I saw some other smaller room types had them). 2. **Soap Dispenser Design:** The hand soap dispenser had a short pump, which was inconvenient to use when my hands were dirty. A longer nozzle would be much better. Overall, it was a very good stay. I would consider staying here again if I plan to do other Olle trails on the Seongsan side.

The room was spacious and bright, with excellent facilities. Both the pool and gym were quite good. Breakfast was plentiful, mainly Western-style, and truly top-tier for a 'Western-style meal'. The croissant was the best I've had in any Asian hotel. The hotel is right by the sea, and an evening stroll along the coast was delightful.

The room was spacious enough. Huge bathroom and I liked the most was jacuzzi bath tub! It was super nice! The location is near port & red light house. Lots of convenience stores around. Only problem was parking spots were not maintained. People were parking almost randomly to waste space and diagonally parked. I had to park very tight spot where only small car can fit. But I definitely come this hotel again.

Overall, my stay was quite good. The hotel is conveniently located right next to Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak, very close to the tourist attraction itself. There are also many convenience stores and Korean restaurants nearby, making it easy to get around. The room provided toiletries and slippers, and it was cleaned daily to a good standard. The view of Ilchulbong Peak from the room was beautiful.

A decent and comfortable stay. If there is not enough parking lot within the hotel, there is another parking space opposite the hotel. There is a washing machine within the room and the staff will give a free detergent pod if the stay is 3 nights and above. They also do provide a drying rack if required.

A wonderful family-friendly stay! Venga Stay offers clean, spacious rooms with two double beds and great distant views of the sea or mountains. It's tucked away from downtown next to a busy road, but the rooms and the communal area are surprisingly quiet. The amenities are great—featuring a free swimming pool, (paid) bike rentals, a convenience store, and an on-site café. Just note that breakfast requires a day-ahead reservation (with a few good options available). The highlight, however, was the incredible staff who were always friendly and helpful. We would gladly stay here again!

Room size is sufficient, location is slightly isolated, no shops near by, nearest CU is 5-10 mins drive out (hotel has its own small convenient store). Came in Mid Feb, weather is around 5-10 degrees, however hotel practice that they do not on the aircon, and also do not provide controller. Personally felt it was a little stuffy, so had to open the window through the night.

Kensington Resort Seogwipo offers very spacious rooms with a mix of Western beds and traditional Korean floor bedding, which is great for families or travelers who want both styles. The in‑room kitchen is convenient, especially with a 24‑hour convenience store located inside the hotel for quick snacks or simple cooking ingredients. Staff service was responsive — when small issues occurred, such as a loose screw in the toilet area and a problem with the main door lock, the team came quickly to fix them. However, some parts of the hotel feel dated and would benefit from refurbishment. The Korean floor blankets are thin and worn, making floor sleeping less comfortable, though the Western bed is fine. Towels are small and greyish, and extra towels come with an additional charge unless you exchange them before 9:30, which may surprise some guests. Breakfast and pool access are also on the expensive side, with the pool costing 19,000 won even for hotel guests. Overall, Kensington Jeju has friendly staff, large rooms, and useful amenities, but the property shows signs of age and has a few unexpected extra charges. It’s a practical stay for families and long‑term travelers, as long as expectations are set for older facilities.
