Wakamatsu Honten

Fantastic location, with attractions right on your doorstep. However, the facilities were quite dated, and the bathroom was tiny. I felt it was a bit overpriced for what it offered. I did experience the Japanese vegetarian breakfast.

I'd actually recommend not bothering with a room with a view. I booked one, but it wasn't particularly impressive. The location is a bit far from the station, but they do offer a pickup service. As long as you plan your trips around their shuttle schedule, it's perfectly manageable. The hotel itself is clean, and the surrounding area is great for a walk.

The hotel is a bit of a walk from the station, but everything else—the service, cleanliness, and meals—was absolutely perfect. I'd particularly like to thank the tall male staff member who gave us such a warm and friendly welcome during our late evening check-in.

Dinner here is so good, you won't even think about trying the local eel rice bowls.
