St Marks Hotel

For one or two nights it’s a fine place to stay, especially given it’s one of the best prices in NYC. Do not expect luxury though!

The location is convinient yet noisy, depends on what is your preference. They accept cash only, so better be prepared beforehand. Room is cozy and a little bit tiny. I think give up on the price it is a good choice but if you are willing to pay a little bit more you will have better experience.

We booked 5 nights in this hotel but left after the first night. We got a room with a window facing a wall, so basically a room without a window. The room was reeking of mold which was very disturbing as soon as we entered. After taking a look into the AC, we weren't surprised. The inside of the AC was full of mold and dirt. This can be a serious health issue and is unacceptable. Apart from that, the blanket had plenty of cigarette holes. It should really not be that expensive to replace a blanket. The only good things about the hotel were the good location and the possibility to pay per night, which enabled us to "escape" after the first night. Also the staff were helpful.

Good value for money Stayed for six nights and thought it was good value for money. It does get loud at night, though, so may not be so great if you're not willing to sleep with earplugs.

European-style accommodations We stayed at this hotel for three nights as a family and had three rooms. The staff was very kind and accommodating. One standout feature is their daily cleaning service, which is no longer the norm in many hotels. For food options, there’s a café and a pizza place right next to the hotel, and IHOP is within walking distance. The location is convenient—you can walk to the subway, or if you prefer a cab, expect to pay around $30–$35 for a ride to Broadway or nearby areas. The rooms are modest and compact, reminiscent of European-style accommodations, with only the essentials provided. If you're looking for an affordable place to stay in New York and don’t mind a simpler setup, this could be a great option. However, be aware that this hotel is cash-only and does not have an elevator. Hope this helps!

Positive: price, quiet, great location, comfortable bed. Negative: seedy, dirty carpet. You get what you pay for.
