箱根や伊豆を月1回の割合で夫婦旅行を楽しんでいます。選ぶ宿は２人で4万円代で料理が美味しいと口コミが多い宿です。ときわやさんは創業明治3年、味わいの宿と言うので少し期待してました。和洋室の部屋と、貸切風呂、大浴場とコーヒーのサービス、500円での釣りセットのレンタルと、夕食前までは好印象です。夕食はスタンダードコースです。駿河湾の幸と料理長厳選の旬の食材を用いた和風創作料理というものの、前菜は出来合い？と思ってしまう物や、前述の謳い文句は偽りの看板？と思ってしまう料理ばかり。とても味わう、ワクワクする、勉強になるような品は皆無でした。煮物、焼き物だけでも料理長渾身の品を出して欲しかったです。鰆よりマッシュポテト？の味ばかり目立つの焼き物、ニシン？の煮物と、戸田らしさは無し。高価かも知れませんが、高足ガニのすき身を少しでも味わってもらう工夫など頑張ってるなーっと思わせる創作料理がでればグレードアップにして再訪もありますが、このレベルの料理だと、他の宿にしてしまいます。朝食は自分で焼くエボダイ以外は普通以下です。定宿にしたい宿探しは大変です。人気の宿はやはり納得できる魅力がそれぞれあります。戸田は寂れてると感じます。戸田には常盤屋さんがある！と認識されるためにも、戸田の未来のためにも頑張って欲しいです。接客は頑張っているだけに。

次の間付き純和風客室に泊まりました。海がよく見える角部屋です。戸田ブルーと呼ばれるきれいな海を眺められます。 食事はタカアシガニがついたコースにしました。タカアシガニは少し淡白な味でしたが簡単に捌けて、カニ味噌を付けておいしく頂きました。お刺身も鮮度良く、他の料理もおいしかったです。 屋上にあるお風呂はどれも海を見渡せます。無料の貸切露天風呂も大きい湯船で湯たり入れます。 明治三年創業の老舗旅館とのことで、スタッフの対応もよく、朝食の後はゴージャスなラウンジで自動演奏のピアノを聴きながらコーヒーを頂いたりとゆったりと過ごせました。
