Pros: - Near Gare du Nord (Paris North Station), Gare de l’Est (Paris east station)and metro station - Clean and comfortable - Bathroom good size (not big but decent) - Fresh and clean linen - Friendly and welcoming reception staff - Lovely housekeeping staff - Windows are sound proof (not 100%) but reasonably soundproof. Cons: - Expensive (rate is for Mercure but the rooms are similar to Ibis Budget) - Small room, not enough space to store luggage. - Shower cubicle is half open so after shower, bathroom is totally wet.

We booked an overnight stay here to celebrate my husband’s birthday, before traveling to EuroDisney in the morning. We have stayed at Mercure hotels many times and they would always be my first thought. As a treat we booked a superior room with balcony and anticipated champagne on the balcony to celebrate. On arriving at the hotel after midday, we were told that our room, which should have been ready at midday was not ready. We received no explanation or apology and were rudely dismissed when the member of staff just started serving the customers behind us. Luckily we had friends staying in the hotel who were able to look after our luggage while we enjoyed the sites of Paris. When we returned to the hotel a different staff member checked us in and we went to our room. The room was nice and clean and there was a separate room with a sofa bed and TV which was nice and relaxing. To our surprise the balcony was boarded off with Perspex so we could not get onto it to experience the promised balcony. A little surprising is the bathroom situation - it’s right next to the bed separated only by a glass etched door - so be sure you’re completely comfortable with your traveling companion. In all honesty the attitude and lack of any apology from the staff member on our initial attempt to check in ruined the whole stay for me. I understand that sometimes rooms are not ready and things go wrong but there was no attempt to take ownership of the issue, apologise or even offer to hold our luggage so we could get on with our day. Not having the promised balcony was the cherry on the cake of disappointment. During our stay, a couple who were confused about their room number and reported to reception that their key was not working. They were then given a duplicate key to someone else’s room. I will not be staying at this hotel again. I will not be recommending it to anyone and I will be sending in an official complaint.

This hotel is within walking distance to Gare du Nord station which is a massive plus. There is a 24 hour reception so you don't have to worry about train delays! It's a nice hotel and very clean. Room size is great for 1 or 2 nights. Nice comfy bed with lovely bedding. Only issue for us was the glass push-to bathroom door which you could see through and it also had gaps in and around the door. If you have no issues going to the loo within sight and sound of your other half you will be fine. I, am not!! 😬Made it a bit of a nightmare for me but everything else was great.

A great hotel, with friendly staff, and so close to the station. Not the best neighbourhood but it is the centre of Paris. We would stay there again - also great showers which is unique for Paris

We had problems the second we arrived. The front door wasn’t opening so we rang the bell. We arrived at 10:30pm so it was already dark and the area isn’t the best. The man on reception was just sitting there ignoring us. In the end some nice American guests had to let us in. We went to check in and he was extremely blunt with us. If you wanted a definition of someone who hates their job, he would be it. After we checked in our key card wasn’t working so we went back downstairs, no apologies just snatched the card off us and added the room again. The rooms are nice but my goodness the beds are like rocks, I think I would have been better off sleeping on the floor. The pillows are also very uncomfortable. The next day my hips and head were hurting. Luckily we were only staying one night before moving on. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. Funny enough we found this hotel on “Luxury Hotel Guides” it’s very far from luxury. But on a positive note, if you like going to the toilet next to your partners/friends head, this is the hotel for you. You also only have a glass panel between the toilet and their head. Always good fun.

Room we had was small but clean and had everything we needed. The little fridge and water replenished was a nice touch. Free safe and could set it to your own pin was good.

Overall the hotel seems to be compliant with the Mercure standards, and therefore one has little risk of being too disappointed with the room conditions. Yet one has to walk 3-5 mins to get to the hotel from the station, crossing two streets, which may give some hassle to people with many things to carry. I went out and came back at midnight, and had to knock on the door for about 10 mins with another guest until someone came out and let us in.
