Top tier hotel worldwide. The hotel is well placed and the staff helped us for reaching the hotel with driver and carrying the luggage in the pedestrian part of the city. The food is amazing and well sourced and does emphasis Pingyao food culture. Last but not least, the staff from the front desk, the kitchen, the people working on the hotel were top tier professional. We received help for booking events, recommendation on best route to enjoy the city and overall always feel welcomed back to a warm , quiet and cozy place. Top tier professional who will find work everywhere in the world with no problem.

We enjoyed an absolutely fabulous three-day stay at Jing's Residence. The building itself is a very nicely modernized Qing-era building. We've stayed in some similarly ages buildings in Europe and this was right up with the nicest of them. The spaces look very similar to the ones in the museums in town, albeit with bathrooms and more comfortable furnishings. The service was absolutely impeccable. Our room was constantly restocked with complementary drinks and baked goods, and the front desk staff (Crystal and Leo) was helpful with everything from restaurant recommendations to transportation to the train station to us mixing up our departure date (whoops). All staff spoke great English. Afternoon tea was a particularly nice touch: no fee, great service, and a very relaxing atmosphere. Food was light Chinese snacks, not the huge spread of a British-style high tea. Breakfast was a similar relaxing experience. We tried all the of the Chinese-style options and they were all excellent. We did not try the Western-style options. Dinner was a set menu, shown to us in the morning before making the reservation. It was a combination of Western dishes and local Pingyao/Shanxi food. If given the choice we would have preferred purely Chinese food, but it was all very good and honestly the change of peace was probably good-- getting a salad was nice after two weeks in China. The Pingyao Beef was the highlight: big cubes of high quality meat, easily my favorite of the three places we had this dish. The bar had a nice selection of Western wines, Scotch, etc, but I was disappointed to not see any local rice wine or Baiji. Air conditioning worked very well in our room, easily getting the temperature down under 20C even at midday on >30C days. Overall I really can't recommend this place enough: this hotel was really a highlight of our trip.

During the May Day holiday, I checked into Jin Zhai with high expectations, and it exceeded them beautifully. The hotel is small yet exquisite, a perfect blend of old architecture and contemporary art, showcasing sophisticated and unique taste. The staff provided incredibly attentive service with a genuine and relaxed charm that was particularly heartwarming. The breakfast was delicious, and the coffee aromatic. During afternoon tea, sitting by the window, I watched people come and go in the alley while savoring my tea... Jin Zhai is definitely worth experiencing!

Everything about this hotel is simply perfect. The staff are exceptionally professional, welcoming, and fluent in English. They are always happy to help with any request and make you feel genuinely well looked after. The rooms are beautiful, spotless, and very comfortable. The hotel itself is a stunning former residence of a silk merchant family, tastefully restored and decorated. Every detail has been carefully considered, and the common areas are absolutely beautiful, creating a peaceful and refined atmosphere. Its location is another great advantage: it is set in the heart of the old town, yet on an incredibly quiet street, offering the perfect balance between convenience and tranquility. Breakfast is excellent: carefully prepared, with high-quality ingredients and no unnecessary excess—just everything you need, done exceptionally well. A truly wonderful place that we would recommend without hesitation.

A 200-year-old historic house with modern and comfortable facilities. The hotel is located right inside Pingyao Ancient City, making it super convenient for dining and sightseeing. The butler service is one-on-one, warm, and thoughtful, even helping to carry luggage from the car park to the hotel. It's a hotel we would definitely return to. Our whole family was very satisfied!

The Jing's Residence (Pingyao Jingzhai Kezhan) is a courtyard-style hotel located on East Avenue in the heart of the Pinyao's ancient historical district. The building in which the hotel is housed was once the former residence of a Qing Dynasty silk merchant.
The Jing's Residence consists of four courtyards connected by corridors paved with black bricks in the ancient Chinese northern residence style. On offer are 19 rooms and suites outfitted with modern conveniences and comforts while preserving the original structure and all of its ancient natural charms. For guests convenience, check-in at this hotel occurs in rooms, forgoing the need for any line-ups.
The lobby, freed of a front desk, has as its focus a fireplace, repurposing the hotel entrance from a procedural role to a place wholly devoted to furnishing guests with an atmospheric public area. From the lobby, guests can access the hotel's dining outlet, which serves Chinese fare. Guests can also make use of the hotel's bar and its small library.
