The Derby Arms features friendly, professional staff, spacious rooms with cozy beds, and a prime location near Forest of Bowland and the Lake District. The breakfast is highly regarded. However, meals and drinks are considered overpriced.

Spent a delightful weekend at The Derby Arms while visiting family in the area. On Friday, we dined in the restaurant, where the shared starters and desserts, along with individual mains, amounted to approximately £50 per person, inclusive of a bottle of wine - all of which was thoroughly enjoyable. On Saturday evening we indulged in bar snacks and a few drinks, another great experience. Heads-up, the full English breakfast served was impeccable! The rooms provided a clean and cozy atmosphere, equipped with all the essentials for a comfortable stay - from a snug bed to a decent shower! You may hear the music downstairs as the rooms are directly above the restaurant and pub... but it's off at 11. The standout feature, however, was the exceptional staff. Warm, professional, and attentive, they truly added to the experience. Having booked a month in advance through the pub's website, the cost worked out to just a little over £70 per night for the room, inclusive of breakfast - providing decent value for the quality of accommodation and service received. Without hesitation, I'd recommend The Derby Arms.

A lukewarm welcome and initially taken to the wrong room by a young member of staff, who gave us the code to get in the back door if we needed it, but gave us the wrong breakfast times for the weekend. First impressions of the room were so disappointing I actually logged into Tripadvisor to make sure we’d been reading the right reviews for this premise . The room was at the front of the building and the view was actually a nice village scene. However there were cobwebs and black mould on the window which had been opened wide for our arrival. Looking back into the room, there were cobwebs down the side of the large headboard and on the walls and light fittings. The pictures and layout map on the walls had a thick sticky dust layer on top of their frames. Plugging my phone charger into the bedside socket, again this was covered in dust, hair and dirty. I went to the bathroom to wash my hands and the door didn’t close properly and the door couldn’t be locked. The hand towel rail was loose and hanging of the wall, and the tap over the sink was loose, you could rock it back and forth and the base around it was filthy. The bath panel appears to have been removed at some point with a terrible job of replacing it, leaving brown residue on show along it’s length. The shower screen seal had black mould on it, the shower head was dirty, clearly hadn’t been cleaned at all, and we had to unclog the shower jets of their black mould before we were happy to use it. The bed itself seems to have been made up of two single size mattresses but no discernible topper meaning we spent an uncomfortable night with a big hard ridge down the centre of the bed. I am beyond disappointed with the accommodation we were given.it beggars belief that someone could look at the state of the room and say that this was acceptable to guests. We have been informed that the rooms were full all weekend so that meant little point asking for a different room. On a happier note, our first evening in the restaurant was actually lovely. The food was as expected and the lady who looked after us on the Friday evening was lovely, a credit to the premises. After a full day out on Saturday we arrived for dinner that evening and it was a totally different experience. The crispy chilli beef salad we both ordered was served to us looking like it had been thrown together and nothing like the same dish what one of the guests on the previous evening had eaten . And it was so incredibly salty that it was practically impossible to finish . This was brought to the attention of the waitress. The only saving grace of our two night stay was the Sunday full English breakfast which was perfect, and the female member of staff on duty was just lovely, friendly and welcoming.

We stayed as a family of three, we received a warm welcome dined in the restaurant and stayed one night. Food and service was great. Our room was spacious and comfortable and we all had a decent a nights sleep, there were a couple of things we had to ask for but these were quickly provided for us. We’d stay here again :-)

Food was terrible and overpriced. There were more flies than humans, they are trying to serve overpriced food, for the "Mediterranean or Korean" palate than English in rural Lancashire. Far too expensive. We spent the entire ruined meal swatting the flies away. Definitely not value for money. Will never go again.

OH MY GIDDY AUNT!!! What a spectacular weekend spent at the spectacular Darby Arms😍 Where do i begin! The staff: they are by far the friendliest, smartest most beautiful young people i have ever had the pleasure of being served and entertained by!!!👍💎🥵 The scran: OMG never had anything more scrumptious in all my days! The setting: peng peng peng! And the alcohol: the bar man Cameron gave 100% effort, energy and passion. My server alice: that young lady was fantastic! She is hands down the greatest asset to the Darby Arms! I wish could give 6 stars. I recommend this place to everyone i know! Xoxo

We visited the derby arms on a Saturday and it was really busy which I knew was a great sign. We asked about walks and we’re told of a couple of good walks to take our dog and off we went. We arrived back to check in and shown to the room. It was nicely decorated and had a gorgeous huge Comfy bed !!! Lots of gorgeous toiletries and fluffy white towels! We enjoyed a drink in the bar and noticed how friendly the staff were. They fussed over our dog and we felt really welcome. Later in the evening we came down for dinner and was not disappointed. The food was cooked and presented really well. Each course was really well cooked and we left happy and full. Again all staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. We had a fantastic time and not forgetting the breakfast and the service! The breakfast was excellent & we chatted to some lovely people who were also staying over. We didn’t want to leave. This place is very cosy and offers a great package with its walks food and service. Cant wait to come back.

We called in on passing for lunch and a drink. The place looks lovely with a brilliant resident singer. The staff were lovely and helpful. We both orderd chicken tikka wraps....we were both very disappointed as you could hardly find the chicken tikka let alone taste it...it was mainly salad with no taste ( there wasn't a sauce either). The chunky chips were nice which came with the dish ( you can request fries or chunky chips). The wrap was very overpriced for what you received and we wouldn't order it again. To be honest the drinks are over priced also...one beer and appletizer nearly £10 !

Very good evening menu - comfortable beds and friendly staff. Dog friendly. Breakfast not included and we just wanted coffee and a slice of toast but were charged £9 and this didn't even include jam.
