**The Soul of Qingdao’s Heritage**
The *Liyuan*—a unique urban residential form born from over a century of cultural fusion—mirrors Qingdao’s evolution as a crossroads of civilisations. Our 1920s brick-and-timber courtyard complex epitomises this tradition, its enclosed layout historically nurturing neighbourly bonds and fostering the city’s vibrant *Liyuan* culture. These courtyards once thrived as stages for opera societies, folk artists, and the legendary "courtyard-hopping" (*Chuanli*) performances, including a 1932 appearance by renowned xiangsheng (comic dialogue) master Ma Sanli.
**Where Heritage Breathes Modernity**
Faithfully preserving the original architecture’s layout, structure, and aesthetic, we’ve revitalised the space through a "renewal through heritage" philosophy. Historical authenticity intertwines with contemporary comfort, immersing guests in a living tapestry of Qingdao’s past while delivering modern luxury.
**Thoughtfully Crafted Spaces**
• **Dining & Leisure**: All-day dining restaurant, artisan cocktail bar, specialty coffee lounge
• **Business Essentials**: Executive lounge, meeting rooms, self-service laundry

**Key British English Nuances**
• "Revitalised" over "revitalized", "harmonised" over "harmonized"
• Culturally embedded explanations: *Liyuan* (italicised as foreign term), *Chuanli* with contextual gloss
• Emphasis on lyrical flow over rigid literal translation (e.g., "living tapestry of Qingdao’s past")
• Period-specific references clarified for international audiences (e.g., "xiangsheng (comic dialogue)")

"We were upgraded to the family room which was very spacious and we appreciated it.
The hotel is located right next to the subway exit and is near attractions like the cathedral and also the pier.
However, cleanliness and housekeeping were a bit of a problem.
When we first checked-in, we found stains on the blanket cover. We informed the hotel staff and it was replaced immediately.
We stayed a total of 3 nights and realised no cleaning was done on the second day. The housekeeper just placed new towels and tea bags in our room but did not clean anything. When we first checked-in, the shampoo, conditioner and body shampoo which were all in big containers were close to finishing. We did not inform the staff as we thought they would replace it on the second day. However, they were not topped up or replaced even until the day we checked out, so we had to use our own supplies on the last day.
On day 3, we indicated that we wanted house-keeping, so our room was finally cleaned.
We dropped something and was looking for it, thus saw that the bottom of the beds were dirty and dusty. It's just that this is a 'luxury boutique hotel' according to the description so we were expecting a higher standard of cleanliness and service."
