Manxin Mansion Shanghai Huaihai

A quiet escape right by the subway! It's just a two-minute walk away. The hotel is converted from an old villa, split into two buildings. One houses the restaurant and front desk, while the other is for guest rooms. The room was pretty good and quite clean. The location is excellent for getting anywhere – perfect for a city walk!

The location on Huaihai Road is super convenient for getting anywhere. The hotel's decor has a lot of character.

The hotel's location is perfect, right next to Huaihai Road, and it feels like less than a hundred meters from the Cathay Cinema. Shopping and transportation are incredibly convenient. It's really pleasant to bike under the plane trees in the morning and evening. For this price, being able to stay in such a beautiful old villa in this area feels like a great deal.

You can tell it used to be a beautiful old house. Both the exterior and interior of the hotel are stunning. What's more, the location, room amenities, front desk and room service, and breakfast quality all exceeded my expectations. Right across the street, there's a subway station for Line 10, which goes directly to Hongqiao Airport and train station. There are also plenty of shared bikes right outside the hotel, making it perfect for a city walk. I've already booked my next stay here when I come back to Shanghai.

Facilities: Decent, but the ceilings on the fourth floor are too low. I hit my head twice. Cleanliness: Pretty good. Environment: The living environment is decent. Service: So-so. Breakfast was served late today, and I was rushing for my high-speed train, so I ended up missing part of it. Transportation: Excellent location. It's an old building, definitely not recommended for tall people. The actual room also looks different from the pictures.

This is my first time leaving a negative hotel review. 1. **Misleading advertising:** The hotel was advertised as a charming villa, but guests were actually placed in a dilapidated residential building behind it – completely different from what was shown. 2. **No security whatsoever:** The accommodation area had no access control, allowing anyone to just walk in. 3. **Deceptive pricing:** They lure you in with low-priced rooms, deliberately hiding the extremely low ceiling height. Upon arrival, they tell you that you can upgrade to a normal room for an additional 99 yuan, calling it a 'room difference fee.' In reality, it's a disguised, forced attempt to sell you a Huazhu Club membership card – a blatant trick to rip off guests. 4. **Extremely poor room quality:** The ceiling had severe leaks, and there were patches everywhere from previous repairs. 5. **Zero soundproofing:** I could clearly hear conversations from the next room. 6. **Old and damaged facilities:** The faucet wobbled significantly, and the hairdryer was old with an extremely loud noise, making for a terrible user experience. The overall experience was extremely poor.
