Movie Hotel (Shanghai Bund City God Temple Store) Reviews

Booking for two consecutive days and found out that asking them to clean the room while we are going out results in nothing being clean but only to organize bed sheet. Disappointed

The receptionist that spoke English was fantastic. She was so helpful in securing a reservation for us at a specific restaurant as my Chinese is not fluent. The hotel is in a good location, however it is very old or looks old. It is also just has that dirty look from being old.. My friend had the same style room however I only had a chair in the other room but she had a couch and coffee table 😑 It wasn't a big deal as we were gona most of the time, bit proper furniturewould have been nice. Everything was old and run down though. There is NO electrical outlet in the bathroom, very important to know ahead of time. So to fix my hair for the nice restaurant, I had to run to a mirror and then run to where the kettle was to curl my hair. There was no mirror put in the living space either. The last day a roach came out to die in between the doorway of the bedroom and the living space. Sigh haha. At least it waited till the last day. The water pressure is really good and great hot water. If they did a deep clean and updated their furniture I would stay again, but until then... or bought furniture so they could properly decorate haha.

The receptionist didn't speak any English. She did her best to help us, provided us with adapters for free. The bathroom needs to be renovated, the water leaked from the sink and the shower looks like it needs to be renovated as well. Room was clean.

Very nice hotel, clean and big rooms good location nearby metro.

Main point: beds are pretty comfy. My wife slept like a bee in this hotel (She barely sleeps that deep)

Booked for my family. The hotel is just a 2-minute walk from Chenghuang Temple. The hotel is very fashionable and the children like it very much. There is a large movie screen in the room, which is really a high-definition giant screen. The hardware facilities are also very modern. The service attitude of the girl at the front desk is also very good. The aunties are very enthusiastic and can help in time if you need anything. There is a large shopping mall nearby with food, drink and entertainment. I took them to the Bund at night. It was very convenient to walk there for more than ten minutes. Opposite the Bund is the Oriental Pearl Tower. Shanghai is different and prosperous, with neon lights. The hotel is in the downtown area, but it is not noisy at all. The family is very satisfied with this trip and the stay is comfortable.

A very bad experience. There were no towels, bath towels, floor towels, or disposable slippers when entering the room.

The location is great, very close to Chenghuang Temple and Yu Garden, but the hygiene is really bad. When I entered on the first day, there was a puddle of yellow liquid on the floor, which made my suitcase dirty. I called the front desk and asked her to mop it, and she agreed. It was not until I went out to play and came back at 10 pm to ask the front desk downstairs that the floor was cleaned up. Then when I entered the room, the puddle of yellow liquid had dried up and no one mopped it. The next morning when I went out, I told the front desk that I would mop it when I cleaned the room today. I went out to play and came back at 8 pm, and it was still the same. They spread the quilt for me, and didn't even tell me to flatten the sheets, but just spread the quilt on it, not to mention mopping the floor. Why can't they mop such a simple thing? It was so dirty all the time during my 2-day stay... The following photos are only 2 of the ones I took, I didn't take the rest!

I like it very much, the price is also affordable, mainly because I like to watch movies on the big screen. It’s great👍

Good location, average, relatively old, with a stale and damp smell ~ not as good as the photos, the name is very special, I thought it had something to do with movies and dramas, but it turned out to be just a projection... I decisively changed it the next day. I didn't want to take pictures of the room...
