The environment was very comfortable and relaxing. Beautiful view whwre you can see some of the sea of clouds. They give you disposable coverings for you to put on top of the fresh pillow bedding and mattress for extra hygiene which is a nice touch I haven't seen before. Bathroom is very clean, though there are only two toilets and two showers and two sinks, so do note that for busy season, but it wasn't an issue at all during my stay. They provided breakfast too, fresh milk the boss heated for me when I got up, and red sugar glutinous rice cakes wrapped in banana leaves (babas), and it was fun to get ready for the day with new friends on the balcony overlooking the village. I think the environment is very good for meeting new friends and other solo travelers- I arrived at the hostel randomly at the same time as three other girls, and we explored Manghong togetjer on the boss's recommendations for itinerary and sightseeing. And the next day the boss dropped us off at a tea roasting experience, and just as we were heading to Nuogan another girl from the hostel finished her tea roasting session, so we all went to Nuogan togetjer to play. The boss even helped load my luggage onto the shuttle bus so that it could pick me up at a sightseeing spot further down the mountain!

Guest UserThe location had great views over the valley, including the early morning sea of cloud. The property has a rooftop lookout that our group could get together to enjoy the view.
It helped that our taxi could drive through the narrow road of Mengben village and deposit us and our luggage on the doorstep of the homestay. This is unlike Wengji & Nuogang villages, where cars are not allowed to enter the village but deposit visitors at the village carpark.
The hospitality of the owner/hostess was remarkable.
She had a Pu'er tea table and made us endless cups of different tea all grown in her farm, explaining their differences and virtues. She did not charge us a cent for the whole experience. Neither did she try to hard sell the tea leaves although we did buy a small amount off her because we enjoyed the tea. She is a good cook and whipped up breakfast and lunch for us.

Guest UserConsidering the convenience of our return trip, we chose this hotel for our last night in Jingmai. The view was fantastic, and the owners were very welcoming. The lobby was tastefully decorated, with various plants and furnishings creating a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere. Any lounge chair or sofa offered a perfect spot to lazily enjoy the beautiful scenery outside the window. The rooms were well-stocked with snacks, a bathtub, a projector, and even a tea table and teaware – the tea owner had thoughtfully provided everything. Each room offered a view of the sea of clouds just by opening the curtains, but unfortunately, the clouds were a bit thin the day we visited; we'll save that for another time.

BugentuandetuanchangThe owners, a husband and wife, are very kind and helpful. They offered to help with parking and provided travel tips for nearby attractions. The soup for the breakfast noodles was slow-cooked by the owner's wife 🤫 The nearby attractions are all incredibly beautiful.

e06642322After comparing several guesthouses in Jingmai Mountain, I finally chose Aileng. Haha, I only found out after arriving that ”Aileng” is actually the name of a tea ancestor.
The guesthouse was quiet and clean. The owner and her family were incredibly kind. Seeing that we hadn't driven, and perhaps because it was the off-season, they kindly drove us to several nearby attractions for two mornings in a row. Although the weather wasn't great, we were warmed by their hospitality.

Guest UserWe had an amazing stay at the Guest House.
It's situated a bit down from Wengji village centre : amazing view of the mountains and nights are very calm ! We really appreciated staying in Jingmai mountain region, a more preserved and authentic area, especially after having visited Northern Yunnan where we were sometimes disappointed....
We rented an e-scooter at Mangjing which was very convenient to visit villages and tea forests around.
The family is very nice and helpful, we really appreciated discovering all these different teas : green, black, white, etc. And so happy to have bought some home !
Wishing you the best !

Lisanne SchutReally recommend staying here! We booked this hotel last minute, and were really happy with our stay! We were welcomed with delicious local tea. The hosts helped us rent an electric bike which was perfect for seeing the surrounding villages and ancient tea forests. They were very helpful since we don’t speak any Chinese, but this wasn’t a problem at all. The area is really beautiful and special and Jingmai is one of our favorite places in China so far.
The room itself was spacious, new and very clean. Breakfast was delicious.

Guest UserTraveling solo, I stayed at the Wengji Longbai B&B. It was a very comfortable stay. The owner also owns a roasted milk shop in the village. The fragrant roasted milk can be added with honey or brown sugar, and they even make baked glutinous rice cakes!
A little further, there's an unmarked Old Tree Coffee Shop. Oh, you absolutely must try the pour-over coffee here, whether hot or iced. It's delicious! The aftertaste is so clear and sweet! If you're lucky, they might even offer cold brew. I didn't get to try it this time because they said they didn't have the right beans. If anyone does, please let me know!
Thank you again to Longbai B&B. It was such a great time! The sounds of insects chirping and rain made for a wonderful sleep!

Jingmaishan Wengji Treasure Homestay! Meet tea fragrance and starlight in Yuanwen
All the beauty of Jingmai Mountain, half hidden in the texture of Wengji Ancient Village, half from the gentle treatment of ”Yuwen B&B”, this stay experience is directly sealed to God 🌟
The landscape is really beautiful to aphasia! The boss upgraded the room super intimately, it is simply a ”exclusive seat for the landscape”~ leaning on the balcony in the evening, you can see the sunset, the afterglow flowed down the branches and leaves of the 2,500-year-old cypress, and even the wind was with a gentle halo. In the late night, the night sky without light pollution is full of stars, and you can see the Milky Way in bed. This immersive mountain romance is too healing. During the day, stroll in the village, step on the bluestone road to the ancient temple to punch in, in the legend of ”the ancient cypress listening” to feel the precipitation of the years, every step is the scenery.
Service is intimate in the details. The enthusiasm of the locals is full here. The owner of the hotel is a non-genetic inheritor of tea making, and there is no sense of distance at all: he will make ancient tree teas on different mountaintops, explain the history of tea planting and tea art of the Brown people in detail, and even afternoon tea is matched with refreshments and local fresh fruits. The mouth is sweet of the mountains. Our boss took the initiative to drive back and forth to Zhai District, and also helped us in advance to find out where to rent a battery car in the village, and told us to go to Mangjing and other routes in the neighboring village. We didn't have to worry about doing the strategy.
Living comfortably and worry-free. The room is spacious and bright, the bedding is soft and skin-friendly, the toiletries are complete, even the hair dryer is high-powered, and the details are in place. Wake up in the morning in the birdsong, open the window to the cloudy ancient tea forest, the breathing room is full of fresh grass and wood. Rent a battery car shuttle between the villages, tired to go back to the homestay to rest, this kind of relaxation is the most needed for travel.
From the afternoon tea aroma to the night of the stars, Yuwen B&B has rubbed the scenery, culture and intimate service into the most moving experience. When I came to Jingmai Mountain to live here, I really understood the beauty of Wengji. I will definitely brush it again next time!

All the reviews are true, but it’s not the wooden building that causes it.
Yes, it is very loud and you hear everyone. We’ve stayed in other fully wooden places, it’s worse here. Maybe not the wood but the guests are the problem. Loud Chinese people, walking the stairs with the heaviest pace you can imagine. Maybe help the other guests by hanging some warnings on the stairs: please be mindful for the other guests when walking to your room.
Also loud Chinese tourist on the square below. Not only while eating they scream all over the place, also with the tea ceremony nobody asks them to please stop talking after 23:00/24:00. We were up till 02:00AM because of tea drinking Chinese people at the fire. We stayed in the suite, which is located above the fire pit. Maybe the other rooms are less noisy. At 7AM each morning, somebody ran down the stairs. We think it’s the staff. It wakes you up through your earplugs.
The staff is OK. They are very shy, not rude. They could be more pro active though as we didn’t feel like they wanted to do something.. which is different to rude but also not very friendly.
The other villages around are way bigger and less cozy than Wengji. Also, with this guesthouse being just next to the town, it was perfect to escape the tourists most of the time. We didn’t find other accommodations in Wengji with the same aesthetics as Shishi guesthouse so we can’t recommend other places better than this.
Maybe if the guesthouse would invest in trying to keep the noise down under the various guests, with text signs or with clearer house rules (fire pit), the noise problem wouldn’t be as bad.
Maybe if they tried to enthusiast their staff more and keep them from watching Chinese drama shows on their phones all day, they would be a bit more welcoming.
We’ve met a lot of amazing people in Wengji, it’s definitely not the locals that have this behaviour.
Lastly, the suite has a cubicle bathroom in the room, they really don’t clean this well. It smells very bad and just feels dirty all over.
For comfort this place is too expensive, for the location and aesthetics you won’t find better options nearby.
