Having seen many reviews about the poor hygiene, inadequate service, and lack of facilities at guesthouses in Jingmai Mountain, I had already lowered my expectations. However, the actual experience exceeded my expectations. They had all the disposable toiletries that hotels usually provide. The owners were incredibly kind, cooking free rice noodles for everyone every morning and inviting guests for tea. In the evenings, they would knock on the door and bring freshly grilled pork belly – it smelled amazing and was incredibly delicious! The guesthouse's location was also fantastic; you could see the sea of clouds right from the window, and it was very quiet at night. It was truly excellent value for money. The owners also sell tea, and I bought some to bring back as gifts for my family before leaving – the prices were very reasonable. Superb!

I read Xiaohongshu's recommendation to come from Taiwan to travel alone. At 9 am, I took a ride back to Dali from Shaxi and then from Dali High-speed Railway to Kunming to Pu'er. I got off at 8 pm and entered the hotel at 8 pm. The warmth and comfort of entering the store can completely disperse the twists and turns of this road. Very magical atmosphere, very comfortable here, all girls who come are single travelers, it is easy to find friends who travel together, eat together, meet together next time to play elsewhere, every night the boss will Pu'er tea, I especially like the unique sandalwood black tea, hanging around in the store, Banniang also rode a small motorcycle to take me to the secret attractions to eat, drink and take pictures. In short, it is a great place. When I leave, I also take my favorite Pu'er tea home to share.

The luckiest decision on my trip to Wengji Ancient Village in Jingmai Mountain was choosing Guesthouse No. 69. This guesthouse, run by Brother Ni, didn't rely on flashy advertising, but its thoughtful details made every guest feel a warmth that exceeded expectations, becoming the most precious memory of the entire trip. The guesthouse's location is prime, situated in the heart of the ancient village, surrounded by cafes and specialty restaurants. The popular Beigui Coffee Shop is diagonally opposite, so whether you're looking for a cup of coffee in the morning or a delicious meal in the evening, you don't have to go far. Even more surprisingly, the room had its own small balcony, comfortable and cozy, so I decided to extend my stay. The room facilities were new, spacious and bright, the bedding was soft and comfortable against the skin, and the pillows were especially good. Combined with the tranquility of the ancient village at night, it ensured a good night's sleep. A smart toilet and user-friendly shower facilities were all provided, and toiletries and other daily necessities were exceptionally complete, dispelling all my concerns about accommodation in the ancient village, making my stay comfortable. The owner's enthusiasm and his wife's thoughtfulness were also the most touching aspects of this trip. They were like long-lost friends, sharing travel tips for the ancient village, inviting us to sample their homemade Pu'er tea, and chatting warmly and sincerely. The guesthouse breakfast was a delightful surprise: flavorful rice noodles with plenty of ingredients, sweet corn, eggs from local free-range chickens, and refreshing grapes 🍇😋😋😋. The guesthouse also offers ethnic costume rental services, with exclusive discounts for guests. Wearing Bulang ethnic clothing and taking photos on the ancient village's cobblestone streets and beside old banyan trees instantly immerses you in the local atmosphere. The owner even took a break from his busy schedule to show us the sunrise and sea of clouds; the tranquility and healing away from the hustle and bustle were unforgettable. There's no commercial alienation here, only the warmth and comfort of home. Next time I visit Jingmai Mountain, I'll definitely return to this ”warm little home” hidden in the ancient village.

Considering the convenience of our return trip, we chose this hotel for our last night in Jingmai. The view was fantastic, and the owners were very welcoming. The lobby was tastefully decorated, with various plants and furnishings creating a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere. Any lounge chair or sofa offered a perfect spot to lazily enjoy the beautiful scenery outside the window. The rooms were well-stocked with snacks, a bathtub, a projector, and even a tea table and teaware – the tea owner had thoughtfully provided everything. Each room offered a view of the sea of clouds just by opening the curtains, but unfortunately, the clouds were a bit thin the day we visited; we'll save that for another time.

It's very convenient to get around. It's only about a 10-minute walk to Beigui Cafe to watch the sunrise. The rooftop platform has a great view with a panoramic vista of the beautiful scenery. The owner makes rice noodles every day with broth that she has cooked the day before as the base, which is very delicious.

We had an amazing stay at the Guest House. It's situated a bit down from Wengji village centre : amazing view of the mountains and nights are very calm ! We really appreciated staying in Jingmai mountain region, a more preserved and authentic area, especially after having visited Northern Yunnan where we were sometimes disappointed.... We rented an e-scooter at Mangjing which was very convenient to visit villages and tea forests around. The family is very nice and helpful, we really appreciated discovering all these different teas : green, black, white, etc. And so happy to have bought some home ! Wishing you the best ! The village is only 1 km away from the busstation and we were picked up from there and brought back there when we travelled to Banna with the bus at 8.30h. The lady helped us with the tickets and also with organising a driver to two sights. However it took a lot of tlme because we don’t speak chinese. We bought some tea from their own tea. The guesthouse is quite basic but has a terrasse and is near the panoramic platform with a great sunset view. What really disturbed me was a bad smell in the room. No idea from where it comes from. (Not from the toilet). The village itself is really beautiful and very worth to visit.

Jingmaishan Wengji Treasure Homestay! Meet tea fragrance and starlight in Yuanwen All the beauty of Jingmai Mountain, half hidden in the texture of Wengji Ancient Village, half from the gentle treatment of ”Yuwen B&B”, this stay experience is directly sealed to God 🌟 The landscape is really beautiful to aphasia! The boss upgraded the room super intimately, it is simply a ”exclusive seat for the landscape”~ leaning on the balcony in the evening, you can see the sunset, the afterglow flowed down the branches and leaves of the 2,500-year-old cypress, and even the wind was with a gentle halo. In the late night, the night sky without light pollution is full of stars, and you can see the Milky Way in bed. This immersive mountain romance is too healing. During the day, stroll in the village, step on the bluestone road to the ancient temple to punch in, in the legend of ”the ancient cypress listening” to feel the precipitation of the years, every step is the scenery. Service is intimate in the details. The enthusiasm of the locals is full here. The owner of the hotel is a non-genetic inheritor of tea making, and there is no sense of distance at all: he will make ancient tree teas on different mountaintops, explain the history of tea planting and tea art of the Brown people in detail, and even afternoon tea is matched with refreshments and local fresh fruits. The mouth is sweet of the mountains. Our boss took the initiative to drive back and forth to Zhai District, and also helped us in advance to find out where to rent a battery car in the village, and told us to go to Mangjing and other routes in the neighboring village. We didn't have to worry about doing the strategy. Living comfortably and worry-free. The room is spacious and bright, the bedding is soft and skin-friendly, the toiletries are complete, even the hair dryer is high-powered, and the details are in place. Wake up in the morning in the birdsong, open the window to the cloudy ancient tea forest, the breathing room is full of fresh grass and wood. Rent a battery car shuttle between the villages, tired to go back to the homestay to rest, this kind of relaxation is the most needed for travel. From the afternoon tea aroma to the night of the stars, Yuwen B&B has rubbed the scenery, culture and intimate service into the most moving experience. When I came to Jingmai Mountain to live here, I really understood the beauty of Wengji. I will definitely brush it again next time!

All the reviews are true, but it’s not the wooden building that causes it.  Yes, it is very loud and you hear everyone. We’ve stayed in other fully wooden places, it’s worse here. Maybe not the wood but the guests are the problem. Loud Chinese people, walking the stairs with the heaviest pace you can imagine. Maybe help the other guests by hanging some warnings on the stairs: please be mindful for the other guests when walking to your room.  Also loud Chinese tourist on the square below. Not only while eating they scream all over the place, also with the tea ceremony nobody asks them to please stop talking after 23:00/24:00. We were up till 02:00AM because of tea drinking Chinese people at the fire. We stayed in the suite, which is located above the fire pit. Maybe the other rooms are less noisy. At 7AM each morning, somebody ran down the stairs. We think it’s the staff. It wakes you up through your earplugs.  The staff is OK. They are very shy, not rude. They could be more pro active though as we didn’t feel like they wanted to do something.. which is different to rude but also not very friendly.  The other villages around are way bigger and less cozy than Wengji. Also, with this guesthouse being just next to the town, it was perfect to escape the tourists most of the time. We didn’t find other accommodations in Wengji with the same aesthetics as Shishi guesthouse so we can’t recommend other places better than this. Maybe if the guesthouse would invest in trying to keep the noise down under the various guests, with text signs or with clearer house rules (fire pit), the noise problem wouldn’t be as bad.  Maybe if they tried to enthusiast their staff more and keep them from watching Chinese drama shows on their phones all day, they would be a bit more welcoming.  We’ve met a lot of amazing people in Wengji, it’s definitely not the locals that have this behaviour.  Lastly, the suite has a cubicle bathroom in the room, they really don’t clean this well. It smells very bad and just feels dirty all over.  For comfort this place is too expensive, for the location and aesthetics you won’t find better options nearby.

A very sweet family! We were immediately invited for tea, and I even tasted their homemade dragon fruit wine. Breakfast and dinner were delicious, well-prepared, and we also found them inexpensive. They're almost always around to help, but clearly have their own activities at the same time—a nice balance. The accommodation feels a bit like a small farm: there are several animals on site. They and the neighbors also have super sweet, affectionate dogs and a cat. They romp and play together all day long and love to come and visit. I absolutely fell in love with the neighbor's puppy. Price-wise, this place is really affordable compared to other accommodations in the area. The room is fine: not huge, but big enough (and you're mostly outside anyway). The bed is firm, which we actually appreciated. The toilet is a squat toilet and has hot water. The shared terrace is a highlight: a beautiful view of the mountains and the valley, and you look out onto the ”sea of clouds”—magical, especially in the morning. We didn't have a car, but we were able to rent a scooter here for 50 yuan a day. It was so much fun and made our stay even better than we could have imagined: the two of us explored the entire area. The bus stops about 1 km away, and for the return trip to Pu'er, they helped us with a shared ride. They're a truly warm family who plan your trip with you and are always willing to help. If we return, we would definitely stay here again. Thank you! P.S. Near the accommodation, there's also a family that sells homemade tea sets made with special clay. Highly recommended!
