The Machiya Hotel Takayama Reviews

First time in Takayama and wanted to try staying in Ryohan style hotel; took about 6 mins walk from Takayama station to hotel; not obvious to find the main door; no lift but staff will carry the luggages to room for us; love the free breakfast and unlimited choice of tea to consume throughout the day; comfortable bed and clean room; impressed with 2 sinks and space there but the shower area is quite small

Nice hotel, quiet and peaceful. You can really let go of the fast-paced life in Takayama and enjoy the inner peace. The hotel is not far from the station, about 10 minutes walk. It is convenient to go to Jinya and other attractions. Highly recommended

Small but exquisite, a connecting room for five people, with a tatami room on one side and a raised twin room on the other, both sides have separate bathrooms. It's a pity that the hot spring was not open. The breakfasts for the two days I stayed there were different, one day I had a sandwich salad and a blueberry milkshake, and the next day I had a croissant salad and a banana milkshake. It's about a ten-minute walk from JR Takayama Station and very close to Takayama Jinya in Takayama City. It was a great stay and I will come again next time!

The hotel is conveniently located, about 500 meters away from the station, and there is 711 about 30 meters away. The private bathroom with reservation time is a must, and drinks are not required for 1,000 yen per person. The service is very good. I answer all my questions and even help with timetables and itinerary guides. I’m really touched ♥(｡￫v￩｡)♥ You can drink coffee and tea freely in the lobby. Go to the convenience store to buy milk and make your own milk tea. The window view in the room is beautiful, and it’s very comfortable when it’s snowing.

The family of four of our family is a family villa. It is an independent small building. The location of the small building is particularly good, and the noise is quiet. It takes only two or three minutes to walk within 10 minutes of walking from the station and walk to the Miyagawa morning market and old street. Takayama is really a particularly beautiful place!

The room was very clean, but the air conditioner was not very user-friendly. It was blowing towards the bed and could not be adjusted. The breakfast was great

The room size is relatively large in Japan and is friendly to families with two children. However, there was a device similar to an air conditioner outside the room we stayed in. It kept roaring all night long. I tried to find staff to solve the problem at night, but there was no staff at the front desk. This is quite disappointing. The charging standards and services of a five-star hotel are only those of a three-star hotel. In addition, the room is right next to the stairs. Whenever someone goes up or down the stairs, there will be a thumping sound. If you are concerned about the above problems, I do not recommend staying in this hotel.
