Very attentive owner and staff, thank you for your hard work and warm hospitality.
From the moment we got off the bus, the owner was waiting by the roadside.
Each room has a private bath, the room is clean, and they will lay the tatami in each room in a short time from 18:00 to 19:00.
101-107 on the first floor. 201-207 on the second floor. The hotel is not big, and judging from the configuration of dinner and breakfast, it is very attentive.
It was snowing heavily when we checked in, and we basically never left the hotel to go anywhere else. When we left, we went to Hirayu Onsen and took a bus to Matsumoto. The highway bus from Hirayu to Kawaguchiko mentioned in Apple Maps here does not exist. Google navigation data is still reliable when going out.
With a stay at Yumoto Chouza in Takayama, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Shinhotaka Ropeway and Fukuji Onsen. This ryokan is 2.1 mi (3.4 km) from Shin Hotaka Onsen and 2.7 mi (4.3 km) from Hirayu Onsen.

The important thing to say first: to this hotel, you must get off at H041, park at the entrance of the hotel, don't get off at Fudi Hot Spring Station, it's a bit far away!
After getting off the bus, there is a promenade, and you can only see the lobby. If you have large luggage, you can go to the lobby first and let the service staff help you.
At the end of the corridor there is a hot welcome rice wine, very delicious.
The room is very good, breakfast and dinner are very good!
The hot springs are first-class, the big baths are large, the private soup is actually indoor and outdoor at the same time, and you can take a bath without making an appointment.
There are many hot springs out of the hotel and it is very good. There is no need to worry about the cold on snowy days. The hotel has prepared cotton coats and cotton rain shoes. It is recommended to go to bubbles.
Special thanks to the service lady at the front desk of the hotel, it is really great! We went to the hotel too early and could check in at 3 pm. The service staff intimately told us to go to the foot soup outside the bubble first. Because the snow was cold, the waiter actually let us stay at 2 o'clock! So touched! The next day we were going to another hotel, but it was too early, we spent money to check out late, the waiter also enthusiastically drove us to that hotel, moved to tears!
The name of the hotel is Tangyuan Long Block. I don't know how Trip.com translates it. I almost missed it!
The first time I commented on a hotel in such a large space, it was mainly really good! In addition, I saw the messages shared by others before booking and helped us a lot. I would like to thank the friends who shared the messages and hope to help people in need.
Set amid a beautiful landscape in Okuhida Onsengo hot-spring area, Yamazatonoiori Soene offers beautiful rooms in a Japanese style with river or garden views. The property is 80-munite bus ride from JR Takayama Station, and Fukuchi Yurimizaka (HO41) bus stop is a 3-minute walk away.
Providing a peaceful escape from the city, Mountain Village Iori Soen's rooms are equipped with a flat-screen TV and refrigerator. All rooms have access to a shared bathroom, while some rooms also come with a private toilet. Slippers and Yukata robes are provided. Some rooms have Japanese-style bedding on a tatami (woven-straw) floor, while others have Western-style beds.
A set menu for breakfast is provided and Kaiseki (traditional multi-course meals) is available, but will need to be reserved 3 days in advance.
Guests can relax in the indoor and outdoor baths with its natural hot spring water. Kashikiri (private baths) are also available and can be reserved for free.
It is a 15-minute drive to Shin Hodaka Ropeway and a 30-minute drive to Kamikochi area. Mount Norikura is a 60-minute drive from the property.

There is no need to make a reservation for the private hot spring, and there is an open-air hot spring with a good view; the riverside hot spring has a good view, but the water temperature of the female hot spring is too low (it should only be in the 30s, it is too cold to soak in winter), and the large hot spring is just average. The room is large, but there is only a bathroom and no shower room. You have to go to the hot spring to take a bath. You have to take your luggage back to the room by yourself, and you have to go up a flight of stairs. Unlike other Japanese-style hotels, they will help you send your luggage to the room. Meal time is strictly defined, not early and not late. Drinking tea is also stipulated in a limited area and cannot be changed.

Remote location but near to shinhotake ropeway.
Very quaint hotel. We stayed in a Japanese room.
We did not have dinner in hotel and have to step out when they make the bed for the evening. We were told we can stay in the room but felt that we got in the way. They were very efficient and it was done in under 15mins. The hotel was small and there were 2 different wings. It’s a bit troublesome to take 2 diff lifts to go to dining area/bath. Front desk was earnest but non english speaking.
The outdoor baths were really nice. You have to take a small single cabin inclined elevator that you operate on your own to get there. Otherwise a short climb/ stairs.
Breakfast was splendid and one of the best we had experienced during our trip. Ingredients were fresh and the portions were just nice.

One of the nicest ryokan I have ever tried, with great dinner and breakfast buffet, yet affordable price. The only drawback of this ryokan is that my room was located in other building which was quite far away from the entrance and there was no elevator in that building, so you might need to prepare for smaller luggages.

Room was spacious and classy with a retro air. I had a decent view of the mountains from my window and could see some of the snowy alps in autumn
Yukatas provided in a range of sizes at the reception
Indoor onsen has a musky smell due to the minerals, half of the outdoor onsen has a fairly nice view of the alps but most of it is not sheltered in the event of rain
My japanese dinner and breakfast was good, i had fun grilling a couple of the dishes myself, but i notice western seems more popular with the locals
Very convenient for a night stay after visiting the ropeway station

Nice experience. It’s a traditional Japanese style architecture. Offer individual and outdoor hot spring, you can have a chance to enjoy hot spring with snowy weather.
We had breakfast and dinner for 2 days. Delicious and various foods included sashimi, beef, and local dishes, but a little salty. (We think Japanese like salty and its position is at high altitude.
Spacious room, Soft bed and hard pillows.

Very conveniently located Ryokan. Free parking on site and close proximity to the coach stop for Kamikochi. You cannot drive into Kamikochi so the coach is the main way in. The room itself is old, but roomy, clean and fully functioning. There is no view from the natural hot spring in the hotel but there is both an indoor and outdoor section. Facilities weren't crowded when we were there. The dinner and breakfast provided was wonderful. Such a feast. Overall great experience.

MMay Yee DorothyIt’s a pretty new hotel which is just a few minutes walk from JR station. The hotel onsen has indoor and outdoor pool. It’s about 15mins from hotel to Takayama old town. The only down side is that there is no parking for this hotel so for those that drive u have to park a distance away. The closest carpark is about 100m away but that carpark is expensive, if I’m not wrong u have to buy the ticket from the hotel reception and it’s yen2000 for 24hrs and it’s a one time entry. If u get the ticket direct from the carpark it’s yen3000. We park at another carpark that is slightly further away but it’s much cheaper at around yen500 from 1800-1000hrs, walking distance is around 4min from hotel
SS & Y PResidence Hotel is one the best hotels we've stayed in starting from the welcoming staff, especially Kato, who went above and beyond to make our stay a comfortable & an forgettable one.
Our room was simply amazing, with beautiful views.
The location was so convenient, right next to Takayama Station and Nohi Bus Terminal.
There's a washing machine to do your laundry.
We would definitely stay here again and will highly recommend family and friends to stay here when in Takayama.
Arigato Gozamaisu Kato and staff, we hope to return one day in the future!!
GGuest UserSuper convenient, the hotel is located two
minute walk from Takayama station on the way it is fully covered so there’s no worry during a snowstorm like when I was there. Service was also amazing staff met the guest with a smile and when I didn’t have an umbrella, I was offered umbrellas for loan straightaway for free. The hotel also has its own Onsen and it was very convenient to see it crowdedness through the TV in your own room. There’s also a rest area where you can enjoy the view of Takayama from the top of the building and a foot spa for those who can’t do the full body hot spring which is very good for people.
TTeoh Kim Heevery nice hotel. Receptionist can speak English. The hotel got his own parking space next to hotel. Onsen spa at top floor is nice. Free of charge, and provided ice cream, locker, hair dryer, etc. Hotel is nice and clean
DDonovan_lThis is a popular hotel in Takayama, welcoming many domestic and foreign visitors. There is ample parking space, but you have to pay ¥800 for parking overnight. The breakfast buffet can be added on for ¥1000 per person. The staff at front desk spoke good English. There was a welcome drink coupon which you could use it for beer or a soft drink at the bar, which is totally self-service.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable, comes with a shower and nice equipment. The onsen is located on the top floor, and for the private onsen it is on a first come first serve basis, you just need to lock it and enjoy the facility. It is family friendly, and visitors can help themselves to a popsicle after having a bath. Amenities such as combs, soap, shampoo, bath robes are provided, you can take it at the lobby.
GGuest UserStayed there with as a family of 3. While I really wanted to like the ryokan due to the warm service and great feedback from friends, my own experience was a bit disappointing. We have stayed in many traditional ryokans prior to this and were familiar with the setup. We are appreciative with the warm service and sincere touches; like candies at check in, but the ryokan itself is really quite old and in need of a refresh.
Our room is tucked away in a corner and required us to go down a small flight of stairs to reach. I am not sure if the location meant that is a bit colder than the rest of the rooms but we really did feel cold and the heating was inadequate. The in built heater would also stop and beep in the middle of the night, which led 2 of us falling sick at the start of the trip. We requested for a additional small heater which helped a bit. Second night, our 9yo son also got many mysterious bites all over his leg. He claimed to have seen a bug crawl under the tatami mat but we were not certain and therefore did not feedback to the ryokan as we only had one more remaining night to go. We had only stayed 1 night in nagoya's marriott associa hotel prior to our ryokan visit, and his skin improved after we left Takayama, leading us to think that it might have been the stay there.
GGuest UserI was quite disappointed by the services of this hotel. It should mention it’s a self-help apartment instead of call itself a hotel so that customers’s expectations won’t be mismatched. No hotel service provided here like no towel changing, no room tidying up service, etc. my room is a tatami room, I have to set up 4 tatami beds all by myself.
when I tried to book for breakfast, the staff told me it’s full, when I tried to book the carpark, staff giving unclear information and made me failed to book upon my arrival. I arrived earlier to book for carpark, the staff said the reservation for carpark will be opened at 3pm. When I arrived at 5pm, the carpark is full. Then I asked if I could book the carpark for tomorrow, the staff said cannot book now, I asked when is the carpark slot opened for reserve, the receptionist said 10am. Really confusing ……. Staff can’t communicate in English but they will use the translation machine. Pros side is the Room is spacious but with if you are looking for hotel it’s not, better call it a self help apartment
CChang Seng JustinThis hotel is centrally located, just next to the Mercure. You leave your shoes in a locker and walk along the common areas barefooted or wearing socks. It's quite a hassle putting on shoes in the reception area to leave the hotel. The drawback of this system is that some guests remove the shoe cabinet keys when they check out. There's a pair of sandals in the room which you wear when you go to the toilet. This is different from other hotels in Japan where you can wear the sandals around the hotel. The onsen area is certainly superior. Photo is the view from my room.
DDuboisTristanThis place was absolute amazing! By far our favorite place from our whole trip. The location was absolutely perfect for the Takyama festival. We were literally right there with shops and street vendors 50 yards away and the parades would have been right there as well if they weren't canceled due to rain. The rooms were humble and traditional and really added to the experience. The tea in the room was exceptionally good and the traditional Japanese breakfast they served was also delicious and fun to eat. We didn't even know they had a legitimate hot spring on site, but they did! They are Japanese style baths so be ready for that, but the water was therapeutic and so relaxing. I cant recommend this place enough and I would absolute make it a point to visit Takyama and stay here again for a few days on our next trip to Japan. They were such great kind hosts. And I cant believe the price, what an great value. Do yourself a favor and stay here. I'm not sure why the other bad reviews are here I read some of them and they sound like entitled stupid American tourists so ignore them and stay here.
