What a total disappointment. This is not a 5 star hotel in our view and overpriced for what you receive. You will be concerned to find the Music Fable has a noisy and busy dual carriageway passing right by its doorstep. Traffic can be clearly heard in your room day and night despite the ‘sound proofing’ they make a point of mentioning on their website. It sits at the end of a parade of old terraced beach front guest houses that are either dilapidated or, have seen better days. Not the best end of town, you might say. You will not see any photos of the outside of the Music Fable hotel (if you can call it a hotel) either on their website nor, on any online booking company. Maybe this is for good reason? Internal photos cleverly depict the quirky interiors. However, the outside is just 3 old terraced houses joined into one, with the brick façade painted black with gold window surrounds and cornices. There is no secure parking. You either park temporarily on the busy ‘yellow lined’ dual carriageway outside or, in a public car park 150 meters up the road that costs 6 pounds per day. We were feeding the meter here throughout our 4 night stay. Our two friends refused to stay there and found available rooms at the Marriott hotel a mile up the road. We were on a golf break together and the owner/manager Tim, told them his hotel was not suitable for Golfers, which surprised us and contradicted his website ‘Activities List’ that clearly states Golf is available nearby? We were shown 3 sea view rooms, all were small and very ‘guest house’ like. Each room is individually themed and quirky but, impractical for a comfortable stay. Our room had a bathtub in the living area, a bed with curtains to separate it from the living area, a tiny narrow toilet area (with blocked sink) situated behind a glass partition next to the bed. The whole feel was that of a small room with everything crammed in. There was insufficient space for hanging clothes. They provided just a large up-ended travel chest with miniscule hanging space. We had to either keep our clothes in our cases or, spread them around the living room hanging them over the furniture. All very disappointing for ‘5 star’ accommodation and being sold at a premium price. The services are not 5 star either. The reception/concierge is a cupboard room at the back where Tim sits outside in an armchair with his laptop at hand. If you want anything you have to ask for it, eg, drinking water, clean teacups and spoons, etc. Breakfast is optional and Tim told us we would get a better breakfast at the beach café up the road ? We saw 3 people throughout our stay and they were the staff ie, Tim, a friendly lady assistant and a room maid. Whilst Tim is polite and willing to help, the Music Fable falls way short of expectations and you feel rather conned by it all. We feel it is not worthy of recommendation nor, its 5 star status.
