The first hotel we stayed at during our weekend trip was so terrible that we immediately rebooked and chose Niaodao the same evening. The next morning, the guesthouse staff called me to confirm the booking. From the moment I booked until I checked out, the service was truly impeccable. The staff were all incredibly friendly and provided many helpful travel tips. The room was a sea-view room with a fantastic view of Gulangyu Island, and given its orientation, you could even catch the sunset. It was spacious, cozy, and very comfortable – truly satisfying. Its location is excellent, right at the intersection of Zhongshan Road and close to the ferry terminal, making it very convenient for taxis as well. The guesthouse has been around for a while, so there was some minor peeling paint on the walls. It wasn't very noticeable unless you looked closely, but a fresh coat of paint would definitely freshen it up. Being so close to the sea, the bedsheets felt a bit damp when we returned in the evening, but it was manageable with the air conditioning running constantly. In summer, there are quite a few insects, so some attention to pest control would be beneficial.

The hotel I stayed at during this trip was truly fantastic, and it absolutely deserves a 5-star rating! From the moment I stepped into the hotel lobby, I was captivated by its French-inspired design, and the rooftop garden offered an incredible ambiance. The check-in process at the front desk was very quick, and the staff were warm, welcoming, and professional. They even thoughtfully provided us with a local guide and highlighted some important tips for our stay. The room itself was beyond perfect – cozy yet elegantly furnished, spotlessly clean, with all amenities neatly arranged. The bed was wonderfully soft and comfortable, the duvet fluffy, and the pillows were just the right height. Even I, someone who usually struggles to sleep in new places, had a fantastic night's sleep. The bathroom featured a separate wet and dry area, hot water was instant, and the toiletries had a lovely fragrance, feeling very nourishing on the skin. Zhongshan Road is conveniently located right downstairs, making it incredibly easy for shopping, sightseeing, getting around, and dining. This entire stay was nothing short of perfect. I would absolutely choose this hotel again if I have the chance and wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone!

The hotel boasts a fantastic location. You can take a taxi to the main intersection, then it's just a short 10-meter downhill walk (literally 10 meters) to the hotel entrance, so even with heavy luggage, access is a breeze. It's very close to the pedestrian street and popular city walk areas. We initially booked the room shown in the last seven photos, which came with a smart voice assistant. However, due to an unexpected municipal issue caused by heavy rain, the hotel kindly reallocated us to a different room (shown in pictures 2-6). This was a huge, sun-drenched room with a bathtub and also a voice assistant. It was spacious and bright. Unfortunately, also because of the rain, a continuous slight noise from the ventilation system near the headboard started, but when we informed the front desk, they promptly shut it off. The lobby provides umbrellas for guests to borrow and a dedicated rack for food deliveries. On the rooftop terrace, guests can use two complimentary washer-dryer sets (washing machine and dryer). The hotel also has an elevator and a terrace. The amenities are very thoughtful and guest-centric. The front desk staff always greeted us warmly whenever we entered or left. As tourists, we really loved this hotel.
