I recently stayed at a lovely island hotel and had a wonderful experience. The location was absolutely stunning, with breathtaking ocean views and a tranquil atmosphere that made for a perfect getaway. The rooms were clean, spacious, and well-appointed, offering all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. The staff were friendly and attentive, always ready to assist with a smile. The on-site dining options were varied and delicious, with fresh seafood being a highlight. Overall, this hotel provided a great blend of relaxation and luxury, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful island retreat.
The experience at Perhentian Marriott was a rollercoaster. Firstly, the initial service and welcome we received was excellent. The clean private jetty, clean and comfortable ferry, baggage handling and the buggy service straight up to our room in the hotel was a very warm and pleasant welcome. The hotel staff explicitly told us to buggy everywhere in the hotel.
Next, came the troubles. The room was beautiful (don’t get me wrong) but poorly refreshed for our stay. The usual menu/file was empty with nary any instructions or introduction on how to call for a buggy or the breakfast timings etc. usual stuff you’d find upon reaching the hotel room. The fridge was unclean and bath essentials not topped up. We called for housekeeping not wanting to let it spoil our vacation. After a sumptuous dinner (the hotel dinner buffet is actually really good sans the fact that they don’t tell you that the drinks counter is payable), we returned to dirty linen right outside our door (they removed the towels provided and did not replace we were left without towels) and opened water bottles in the cupboard. That’s not all, the water heater was down and there was no communication from the hospitality staff when the engineering team is fixing the heater or if it has been fixed. (We only found out they restarted the heater after we initiated a follow up with the team). The next day, as I attempted to take a bath I turned on the bath water and out spurted 100% hot water that scalded my knee. I called for burn cream and the hotel reception told us they did not have a first aid kit and instructed us to head to the store to purchase. No follow up on the matter and no acknowledgement of the issue is made from the team. It was a constant issue of us turning on the water (right in the middle, not hot not cold) for the taps and showers to spurt 100% hot water and us avoiding it.
The only redeeming point is that every restaurant, every in person staff we encountered from the buggy services to the pool side staff to the restaurant waitress everyone was lovely and warm.
(P.s. the route to long beach is fret with rubbish and flies)
The recent renovations to the lobby, rooms, and facade, along with the addition of the new in-house Kopitiam and Lagenda restaurant, have significantly enhanced the overall guest experience. The improvements create a fresh and welcoming atmosphere, and it’s clear that the staff are equally energized—their enthusiasm and attentiveness shine through in the quality of service provided.
Nice and big room, but old. Bed is terrible where u can felt the spring. Booked and paid for double bed, instead given twin bed. So basically pay extra did not guaranteed.
Food stall for dinner next to the beach is great, breakfast too. Location is perfect for beach lover.
1. Cleanliness: Truly impressed! Despite being surrounded by trees, the resort is spotless—no fallen leaves, even in the hammock and gazebo areas. Many resorts offer similar setups but lack this level of cleanliness. Big applause to the team—10/10!
2. Service: Exceptional! While casually chatting with staff at the beach, they recognized my name just by hearing the room number. It happened multiple times—amazing memory and attention to detail, especially during a full-house stay. I was honestly wowed.
3. Private Dinner – South Sea Experience: Our waiter, Bayu, was outstanding. Friendly, proactive (offered to take our photo), and full of integrity. He even apologized for a minor food mix-up we didn’t notice—rare to see such ownership. Truly commendable.
4. Surprise Gesture: After dinner, we returned to a beautifully arranged bathtub with bubbles and flowers—completely unexpected. Another thoughtful “wow” moment.
The hotel itself and it's location was great. The weather was sunny, making the water activity do-able and nice. Thanks for the hardworking lifeguard at the beach and attentive restaurant waiter/waitress. However, the service at the reception and manager handling a paid room upgrade should be improved further for a better guest experience. Not a 5-star experience. Lol. Hope they can improve on the communication and better room coordination. Marriott/Shangrila will do this in a much better way. Maybe it's me who put higher expectation on Taaras
Is this resort deserve a repeat? Maybe NO. Anyway tq for the experience
I booked the room for my sister’s sister-in-law. Overall, everything was good — the service and facilities were satisfying. However, the room wasn’t very spacious, which made it a bit difficult for praying comfortably.
Very Good

AAin3004Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable vacation. The combination of friendly staff,
comfortable accommodation, and delicious food made for a memorable vacation
experience. In conclusion, it was the perfect place to freshen up and relax
LLiyanaaWe stayed at Mimpi Perhentian Resort Hotel at the end of June for 3 days and 2 nights, and we regretted not booking a longer stay. Our sea view triple room was perfect for our little family of three, including our six-year-old boy. The resort offers the best views on Long Beach, and we loved the chill vibes in the morning and the lively atmosphere in the evening and night.
Booking all our island trips through the hotel was super convenient since we could charge everything to our room. We did snorkeling during our island tour, which is an absolute must-do when you’re on the island. The rooms were exceptionally clean, with comfortable beds, strong air conditioning, and great water pressure for showers. The saltwater hotel pool was also charming and a great spot to relax.
We appreciated having the staff handle our luggage and bags, bringing them from the jetty at Kuala Besut all the way to our room at the hotel itself, which was superb! The boat ride to the island was also great, seeming more luxurious than the ones offered by the other resorts on the island.
Each and every single staff throughout the hotel was amazing and friendly; making our stay even more enjoyable. Breakfast was just okay, but no worries! There are plenty of cafes just a stone’s throw away with affordable, really good food covering almost all cuisines. A beautiful stroll away, these cafes added to the charm of our stay.
Mimpi Perhentian truly is a dream come true. We can’t wait to return!
AAnonymous UserLocated just infront KTCC which is very convenient for us to sightseeing. Not only that, it also near to Mayang Mall which only located around 800m fro the premise. Plenty of restaurants within walkable distance. If your room facing left side of the building, the scenery is amazing.
The cleanliness can be improved. No free disposable toothbrush provided but they supply head cap, bar soap and disposable small plastic which very awkward.
During check-in, even though we arrived at around 3.30pm,the room is still not ready and they negotiate to DOWNGRADE our room which very irritating to us. We demand to get what we booked and they comply.
The parking is provided but limited.
IIULIIAThe rooms are clean, there is a small refrigerator, hair dryer, kettle, no tea, coffee. Water is brought every day. Towels are changed, but to do this you have to throw them on the floor. On the last day, clean towels smelled strongly of mold. The air conditioner periodically turns off, to turn it on you have to press a button, in our room the air conditioner did not cool well. The food in the restaurant is more expensive than in other cafes and plus to this in the final bill they add another 18%, so we went to eat in a neighboring cafe, where the staff is very nice and the prices are normal. Next to the room grew a mango tree and every day langurs came to eat. The hotel beach is not very good for swimming, there are a lot of dead corals in the water. But it is 5-10 minutes to walk to the beautiful PIR beach. Overall, the hotel is not bad.
BBM AlauddinThe staff at this hotel were incredibly welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The rooms were immaculate and very comfortable. Specially the Pakistani man and the Malay lady very helpful
But they don’t have coffee inside the room
