My recent stay at the Mandarin Oriental Muscat was overall enjoyable, with several notable highlights. The hotel’s location near the beachfront is fantastic, offering stunning views of Muscat and the surrounding mountains. The interiors are beautifully designed, featuring natural materials that create a luxurious and calming atmosphere.
The rooms were ultra-comfortable, with excellent beds and top-quality linens that made for a great night’s sleep. I also appreciated the thoughtful in-room amenities, including good tea, a Nespresso machine, and water in glass bottles—a healthy and eco-friendly touch.
The shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner provided were of great quality, and the dental kits were decent. However, I did notice that some toothpaste tubes weren’t fresh, as the paste had become solid and dry in a few sets. Additionally, the shaving kit was of the cheapest level, which didn’t align with the otherwise high standards of the hotel.
Breakfast was good but not quite up to the level typically expected from Mandarin Oriental. There’s definitely room for improvement here, but I believe this is something the hotel will refine over time. The staff were polite and professional, which added to the overall positive experience.
Considering the hotel is still new, I’d rate the overall experience, including the price/value ratio, as 3.5 out of 5. I’m confident that with time, the hotel will address these minor gaps and elevate the experience to match the impeccable standards the brand is known for.
Overall, I had a wonderful stay at the hotel. The location was particularly convenient, and the staff were incredibly helpful. I especially want to recognize Receptionist's for her friendly and attentive service. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others.
As a suggestion for improvement, it would be beneficial if the breakfast cost could be included in the room rate. Currently, it's listed as a separate expense. This would make budgeting and overall pricing more transparent for guests.
Thank you again for a great stay!
All good.. worth the price! Location is perfect. The room is clean and maintained. But maybe time to change the towels. The fnb service is weak. Had to ask for the menu, no water was served, not even asked, the plates were not cleared from the table for the longest time. Maybe need more training on service for the staff. Nice pool with a view.
A great location with access to the mall. Rooms were clean and well lit. They allowed an early check-in, which was a good thing. But that's where the good things end. We faced a few issues during the stay, which I think was a disappointment
1. not enough car parking space for patrons. It's always full, and anybody can come and park .
2. Squeaky beds and not that great on sleep on felt uneven in a lot of places.
3. Service was not that great either. No iron box. Weight scale not working. Blow dryer not working.
took 3 calls for them to come replace them, and even that they did not get it right the first time
4. Gym felt claustrophobia and not easy to access without clear signs.
Definitely not a 5 star...maybe a 3 star
I had a wonderful time in Intercity hotel bawshar!
It is located within a 3 mins drive to the newest mall in Oman - Mall of Oman. The hotel offers a shuttle to bring you to Mall of Oman at specific times. You can ring them to arrange for a pick up back to the hotel when you are done shopping and dining!
It's near the airport and all the main tourist attractions. The hotel is new, bed is super comfy and the housekeeper Perera and the staff in the restaurant like Aamir make you feel absolutely at home.
It's a small hotel but it has a gym and a pool with one restaurant.
Would strongly recommend this hotel!
Disappointing week in a disappointing hotel. From the moment we landed in Oman, the intercontinental hotel was not helpful. When we asked for a taxi, they wouldn’t help us and we had to arrange ourselves. When we asked if we had a sea view, we were told “we had a partial sea view” which was actually a car park and a loud generator which rattled on all through the night. The generator was so loud we had to keep the balcony doors closed all the time. However, one night, even with the doors closed we were kept awake until 3am with loud bangs and clatters from hotel staff loading up vans with furniture after an event at the hotel. When we asked about booking the onsite restaurants, we were told they were all closed apart from the main one. Multiple times when we went to the main restaurant we were told it was too busy and we had to wait and come back later. When we did get into the restaurant, we often had to wait long times for food to be replaced or we given paper cups because they’d run out of glasses! When we tried to get the WiFi at the pool, there was none. When we tried to use the creams in the room, they’d run out. The staff were lovely and the food was nice but altogether, we didn’t feel looked after and definitely don’t feel this is a 5* hotel.
The hotel has a great charm and deep feeling of its history which corresponds to its classic design. The territory is not big, but well enough for a city and business hotel, there was a swimming pool outside and inside. We booked a club room, which was a very nice. Breakfast was delicious with variety of cheese, hot bites, and even salmon, as well as fruits and fresh juices. Hotel staff was very kind and professional.
The room is quite big, the service is very thoughtful, the breakfast is very rich, there are noodles and shrimp dumplings suitable for Chinese people, as well as fresh salmon. The hotel breakfast supervisor is super enthusiastic, took photos with us, and gave us snacks
This hotel in Muscat is quite new. I stayed there for 2 nights. It is about 30 kilometers from the airport and is moderately priced.
The room is not too big or too small, but it is really expensive to add breakfast.

JJasonlee87The location is good, 15 minutes drive from the airport, there is a big shopping mall next to it, convenient for eating and traveling, free parking. The hotel is clean and tidy, and the service is very considerate.

MMaria DivinaLocation is in a good neighborhood, you can cook and the room is spacious. Suitable for long stays. However for me, there are better hotels to stay at in the same price range. Encountered a problem multiple times with the door lock, overall it's ok. The wifi is also good.

AAli AlbadaThe hotel is nice and the staff are very friendly, this is my fourth time at this hotel. However do not take the rooms looking at the cafe, because the music is so high and you can hear it all night you will not a good night sleep. They should have installed double glass to block loud sounds. Overall all it was joyful stay for two nights.

GGuest UserReally great place to stay, it’s in Al khuwair/ghubra, 13 minutes from Muscat Airport. We arrived early, Sanjana at the desk, organised an early check in, staff was great. Good atmosphere overall. I’m more of bear grylls type, so don’t choose any food options at the hotels, locally explored all kinds of cuisine. Just remember Muscat/Oman in general is not foot travel friendly, so don’t expect signalled crossings for pedestrians. We walked to local shops and restaurants within reason. Used taxi throughout our stay, it was great. Thank you Trip.com
GGuest UserThe hotel is 7 or 8 minutes walk from Qurum Beach, convenient to see the sea view, but there is no large business super nearby, restaurant. I am a girl, traveling alone, and the stay experience at this hotel is very poor. First of all, the taxi at the entrance of the hotel is the hotel's internal car team. The slaughter of passengers is serious and unreasonable. I took it once. The original fare of 5 rias was charged 10 rias. Finally, I took a more detour. When getting off the bus, the Arab driver shouted at me for 2 more riya, quite rude. When I left, I had to take a taxi to the airport and stopped a taxi at the door, but the uncle of the hotel taxi team called the other taxis and forced my luggage to his own trunk, not saying that they had to take the same price. I was angry, but they were unreasonable, and they argued with each other. I called the manager of the hotel, and the manager looked at it and then stood by! Secondly, during my stay, I was knocked on the door by a local drunk man in the next room. I later learned that this hotel has a bar, and the local wind is not good. I did see some local young ladies in and out of the evening dressed in cool clothes. . . The above wrote his own experience, hope to provide reference for the countrymen.
