Acropolis Athens 🗺️
#timetotravel
My visit to the Acropolis of Athens was a pilgrimage into history and marvel. Perched above the city, this iconic site with its monumental ruins and timeless architecture was a humbling experience. Standing before the Parthenon, I could almost feel the echoes of ancient Athenian life. The Erechtheion's Caryatids exuded grace, while the Propylaea's grand entrance marked the gateway to antiquity. The sweeping views of Athens below were breathtaking, revealing a city that has evolved through the ages. The Acropolis' central location and its usually extended visiting hours allowed me to immerse myself in its stories both day and night. The Acropolis of Athens isn't just an archaeological site; it's a testament to human achievement, artistry, and the enduring legacy of ancient Greece.
And The Surroundings Slopes
The Acropolis of Athens is not only the most important and visited monument in Greece but also one of the greatest achievements in European culture. It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.
It is situated at a limestone hill around 156 meters, and is visible from almost every part of Athens. It is around 200 meters 3 minutes walk from Acropoli metro station and is open daily from 0800-2000 during April to October.
The theater of Dionysus is an ancient Greek theatre built on the south slope of the Acropolis hill around the 4th to 5th century BC.
Although the most famous building on the Acropolis is the Parthenon, there are many other buildings, like the Propylaea, the Erectheion and the temple of Athena Nike. The Acropolis was entirely made of the finest Pentelic marble and by the best craftsmen of the era.
The Acropolis of Athens
Athens is a wonderful city filled with historic wonders. Located in Greece, south east of Europe.
The Acropolis of Athens is an ancient citadel located on a rocky outcrop above the city of Athens and contains the remains of several ancient buildings of great architectural and historical significance, the most famous being the Parthenon.

Greece No 1 tourist Spot - The Parthenon
The most visited site in Athens - The Parthenon , i would recommend you all to sign up a walking tour with guide because its rich history is fascinating. The temple was dedicated to the goddess of Athena - protector of Athens and been stood on the very ground since 5th century BC.
Recommend to go early in the morning to skip the crowds - we went during the early morning right after they open and took the side gate (beside Acropolis museum) , it was fast as we purchased the ticket online. Winter time is slow season in Greece thus we took some quality photos without being flooded with humans
A must visit attraction and give yourself plenty of time. We spent almost 3 hours there.

A Temple Fit for a Goddess
An impressive example of ancient Greek architecture, the Parthenon is a cultural landmark like no other. It once served as a treasury and at another point housed a Christian church. Now, the Parthenon is a must-see sight and the unchallenged highlight of visiting the Acropolis (and for some, Greece in general).
And with good reason; By many engineers and architects, it is considered the most perfect structure ever built. The sculptures and the Parthenon Marbles are of such exquisite craftsmanship and beauty that they almost seem to breathe.
The Parthenon has been voted the most beautiful building in the world according to Business Insider, followed by The National Congress of Brazil in Brasília, The São Paulo Museum of Art (São Paulo, Brazil) and The Forbidden City Temple in Beijing, (China).

The great Parthenon in the Acropolis
Amazing trip to the acropolis. This is definitely “must visit” place in Greece. You will be exited of seeing all this huge ancient buildings made of pure marble. Big respects to the team who are working on the reconstruction of the sites, you can see a big jog they have done where the “Snow White” marble parts are, these are the new ones.
I highly recommend to enter the acropolis from the main entrance despite huge lines for tickets and to the entrance also!
After you enter go direct to Parthenon and to the view square with Greek flag to see the Olymp and little part of stadium, after the best way is to go down and see the theater and head to exit! have a nice trip and stay in Athens

During winter months Royal Clipper sails on, Caribbean voyages through the southern part of the Lesser Antilles area. During the summer the ship leaves from Athens. The ship can hold about 250 passengers. #wintergetaway
#wintergetaway
My friend and I experienced the Greece weather to be most wonderful in early winter and the food was plentiful the availability of different varieties of fruits was particularly interesting for us because both of us love tasting many different fruits. Our most memorable fruit was Greek avocados, they are the best we had ever tasted; it was creamy smooth and almost fibreless, the best avacado indeed and price was unbeatable jus €2 per kg for best fresh dark green avacado from surrounding greek islands. And of course how could we forget the Gyros ( fire roasted meat and vegetables wrapped in soft fluffy round bread) and cold beer in Greek Sun. And of course we enjoyed the ship rides to beautiful islands. We hope to visit Greece again in future. We love ♡ Greece.

The Royal Clipper that sails out of Athens is a great luxury experience. Even though it is only for about 250 people, it provides excellent entertainment. The piano player was especially talented. #wintergetaway

#greek #athens #plaka
Plaka, also known as the “neighborhood of the gods,” is the oldest neighbourhood of Athens. Walking on its paved narrow streets you get the feeling that you are travelling back in time. The origin of the name of the neighborhood is unknown, although theories abound. According to popular belief, Plaka was named after a slab of stone that was found near the church of Ayios Georgios Alexandrias, in the vicinity of the theater of Dionysos. The beautiful neoclassical style color of the houses, the architecture, the well-kept gardens, and the beauty and atmosphere of the neighborhood are enchanting. In Plaka, the air you breathe is different; it is lighter, cleaner, and fragrant, like a gift of the gods. When you visit Plaka you should bring a map, because you might get lost in the labyrinth of narrow streets and alleys. In Adrianou Street, the central street of the neighbourhood, as in other streets in the area, you will find shops selling traditional products, souvenirs, Greek folk art and handicrafts, etc.

Acropolis Museum Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Acropolis museum 🇬🇷
The Acropolis museum is very close to the site of the Acropolis attraction. Set over 4 floors, it gives visitors lots of information about the history of the site as well as some of the most important statues which have been taken inside.
The museum has glass flooring so that you can see down into the excavation site which gives it a very unique feel and vibe. On the top floor, there is a cinematic experience too #mytripvlog #urbanexplorer
Best Museum in Athens
Acropolis Museum is located at Dionysiou Areopagitou 15, Athens 117 42, Greece, and is open daily, Monday to Thursday 0900-1700, Friday 0900-2200, Saturday and Sunday 0900-2000. It is located just around 50 meters a minute walk from Acropoli metro station.
The museum was opened to the public in June 2009 and was used to house every artifact that was found on the Acropolis of Athens and the surrounding slopes.
On level 1, visitors learn about the history of life at the top of the Rock, from 2nd millennium BC until the end of Antiquity. On level 3, visitors are afforded the opportunity to view the sculptural decoration of the Parthenon, the most significant temple of the Acropolis.
An entire excavated neighborhood that lies beneath the museum provides a greater perspective of how the ancient Greeks life.
Athens is a four season destination!
To be real,it’s not the first time that I went to Athens.
But this time I realise that I have been there all of the four season and know I can tell to everyone that Athens is a four season destination for sure!
You can do everything that you want,
but the mist is to visit the Acropolis museum,it is amazing!
And if you are 25 years old and younger you don’t have to pay an entrance!
Walking down the Acropolis is the Acropolis Museum, and it is worth a visit, a museum that is a rare blend of architecture and heritage. The bottom of the museum is suspended above the archaeological excavations of the 4th and 7th centuries. Ruins buried in the ground, are the ruins of Makriyani. Most of the sites are residential sites and tombs of the Mycenae civilization from 10,000 years ago. The goddess column of the southern porch of the Eric Tion Temple is displayed in the exhibition hall! Greek girls are graceful, and one is now in the British Museum. The third floor of the museum is the Parthenon exhibition hall in the key area. The entire exhibition hall is exactly the same size as the Parthenon temple. All the most exquisite exterior sculptures and artworks are displayed here. You can look into the exhibition hall in the distance. The Parthenon makes people feel as if they are crossing ancient and modern. It is highly recommended to have a rough understanding of the history of Greece and the Acropolis before going for this the tour. Otherwise, you will feel like passing a pile of run-downs and broken walls.
