Ancient defense fortress of Alexandria

Visiting the Citadel of Qaitbay in Alexandria is an enchanting experience that immerses you in the maritime and military history of one of Egypt's most historic cities. This formidable fortress, constructed in the 15th century by Sultan Al-Ashraf Sayf al-Din Qa’it Bay, stands proudly at the eastern tip of Pharos Island, guarding the entrance to Alexandria's Eastern Harbor.Walking towards the main entrance, you cross a stone bridge over the former moat, now a picturesque pathway. The large wooden doors lead into the outer courtyard, where you can admire the sheer scale of the fortification.
