Fuji station, Sushi Yoshi is a charming sushi haven owned by a delightful elderly couple with years of sushi crafting expertise. The small, rustic shop offers a cozy ambience with a choice of bar or floor seating. Opting for the floor seats to fully embrace the Japanese culture, we were warmly greeted with two steaming glasses of green tea, a perfect remedy for the chill from the outside. We ordered several sushi from the menu: 1. Kappamaki - Cucumber roll 2. Tekkamaki - Tuna roll 3. Ikura - Salmon Roe 4. Tamago - Egg 5. Maguro - Tuna 6. Toro - Fatty Tuna 7. Ebi - Prawn 8. Tako - Octopus 9. Amaebi - Sweet Shrimp 10. Anago - Sea Water Eel 11. Tai - Red Snapper The sushi chef offered wasabi with the sushi, and while my date forgot about my aversion to it, the freshness of the seafood shone through, satisfying our hunger. The floor seating added an authentic touch to the experience. A couple of tips for future diners: You can request wasabi on the side, and if you're not a fan of raw sushi, inquire about their Aburi (grilled) options. Some seafood selections might not be available, so it's advisable to check with the owners, as our visit coincided with their preparation for the Golden Week closure.
