Catching sunset at Kiyomizudera

We love Kyoto for its architecture as well as its rich history. Walking our way up to Kiyomizudera just before its closing time around 5:30pm and we were so delighted to catch the golden hour here. The sunset shine beautifully on the temple and its surroundings. It is interesting to know that most of Kiyomizudera’s buildings have been destroyed numerous times due to fire, and have been rebuilt again and again. Most of the present structure were reconstructed in 1633. Kiyomizudera Temple was registered on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List as one of the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto as well. #weekendgetaways #mytraveldiaries
