A-Ma Temple, which has a history of over five hundred years

A-Ma Temple (Portuguese: Templo A-Má) is located on the southwest side of the Macau Peninsula, built along the coast, backed by mountains and facing the sea, with stone lions guarding the gate, and flying eaves soaring into the sky. It is one of the three major Zen temples in Macau, China. A-Ma Temple is one of the most famous historical attractions in Macau, originally built in the first year of the Hongzhi reign of the Ming Dynasty (1488), and has a history of more than five hundred years. The temple was originally named after the Taoist goddess Mazu and commonly known as the Temple of the Heavenly Queen. The main structures include the main hall, the Hongren Hall, the Guanyin Pavilion, and other halls. The A-Ma Temple mainly worships the Taoist immortal Mazu. On July 15, 2005, at the 29th session of the World Heritage Committee held in Durban, South Africa, the Historic Centre of Macau, including the forecourt of A-Ma Temple, was inscribed on the World Heritage List.
