Shicheng Dashen Village, a hundred acres of lotus garden and the ancient Nanlu House

🧆 Dashen Township is located at the foot of Shicheng Tongtianzhai Mountain, where there is a hundred-acre lotus garden. Unfortunately, I came a bit late, and many lotus flowers have withered, forming lotus pods. Luckily, there are still many lotus flowers in full bloom, which makes the trip worthwhile. Shicheng is known as the 'Home of Chinese White Lotus,' and lotus ponds can be seen everywhere along the way. 🍭 As the sun sets in the west and the heat dissipates, standing amidst this vast field of lotus, surrounded by the fragrance of lotus leaves and a refreshing breeze, one feels invigorated and refreshed. Behind the lotus fields, there are several white buildings nestled among the green trees, with the majestic Tongtianzhai as the backdrop, especially the 'Pillar of the Earth' piercing the sky, creating a magnificent landscape of mountains and fields. 🍭 Strolling through the lotus garden, at the crossroads, there is a Xian family ancestral temple, and next to it are some ancient dwellings, unfortunately abandoned and not maintained, leaving only ruins. Further inside, I saw an ancient dwelling named Nanlu House, which is well-preserved. 🍭 Nanlu, also known as Huang's House, was built during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty (1783) and has a history of over two hundred years. It covers an area of 20 acres and has a building area of more than 6,000 square meters, with a closed brick-wood structure. There is a tall wall built outside the house, with a courtyard gate next to it. Entering the courtyard through the gate, it is very spacious, with a half-moon-shaped pond in front of the house. The orientation of the five-section house seems quite special, as if all are facing the courtyard with their gable walls, all with tall horse-head walls. The entire building is backed by Tongtianzhai, with a pond in front, boasting excellent Feng Shui. 🍭 Behind Nanlu, there is also an ancient She stage, uniquely shaped, somewhat resembling a round tulou. This is an important venue for displaying Hakka folk activities, often featuring lantern performances.
