Folk Palace of Yongzhou, the Zhou Family Mansion

Yongzhou's most famous Ming and Qing architectural complex - the Zhou Family Mansion, known as the 'Folk Palace'. The Zhou Family Mansion is located at the southern foot of the Wuling Mountain Range. It was built by the descendants of Zhou Dunyi, a famous Neo-Confucian scholar of the Song Dynasty during the Ming Dynasty, and has been thriving for 27 generations for nearly 600 years. The descendants have glorified the Zhou family. The ancient architectural complex of the mansion is huge, with black-tiled, green-brick, and white-walled courtyards scattered in the green fields, with mountains and rivers nearby, and its momentum is magnificent. There are countless ancestral houses, halls, and rooms, horse-head walls, wooden doors and stone piers, dragon and phoenix reliefs, and wood-carved windows, majestic and prominent. 'Loyal ministers and filial sons, reading and farming' is the core of all plaques and couplets, and it is also the family rule and ethics of the Zhou Family Mansion, the way of the world.
