Just an hour flight from Singapore, this charming little town is a must visit. Food is cheap and place is peaceful. This vacation has been really enjoyable for our family.
Elephant kingdom!!
Actually this elephant camp was situated in Hatyai outskirt. We found out this camp through local guide and we decided to visit this place while we were visiting Songkla at the mermaid beach. There is couple of nice activities for family outing. We managed to bought bananas just to feed the lovely elephant.. the elephant was gorgeous! Would like to come over again.

Chang Puak Elephant Camp: Where Giants Roam
#songkran2024
Visiting Chang Puak Elephant Camp in Hat Yai was a truly remarkable experience that left an indelible mark on my heart. Nestled amidst the lush greenery of southern Thailand, this sanctuary offered a glimpse into the world of these magnificent creatures while promoting ethical tourism practices.
As I entered the camp, I was greeted by the gentle giants – majestic elephants adorned with colorful garlands, their wise eyes radiating warmth and intelligence. It was clear from the outset that these animals were treated with care and respect, their well-being prioritized above all else.
The highlight of my visit was the opportunity to interact with the elephants up close. Under the guidance of knowledgeable mahouts, I fed them their favorite treats, marveling at their dexterity and grace as they plucked bananas and sugarcane from my hands with gentle trunks.
But the experience didn't end there. I was also given the chance to embark on a leisurely elephant trek through the surrounding jungle. Perched atop these gentle giants, I felt a profound sense of connection to the natural world, surrounded by the sights and sounds of the forest as we traversed winding paths and crossed bubbling streams.
Throughout the trek, the mahouts shared fascinating insights into the elephants' behavior, biology, and conservation efforts. It was inspiring to learn about the camp's dedication to the welfare of these animals, including their involvement in rescue and rehabilitation programs for elephants in need.
As the day drew to a close, I bid farewell to my newfound friends with a mixture of gratitude and awe. My time at Chang Puak Elephant Camp had been more than just a tourist attraction – it was a transformative experience that deepened my appreciation for these incredible creatures and reinforced the importance of responsible tourism practices.
Leaving the camp, I carried with me not only memories of elephant encounters but also a renewed sense of stewardship for the natural world. And as I reflected on my time in Hat Yai, I knew that Chang Puak Elephant Camp would forever hold a special place in my heart, a sanctuary where humans and elephants could coexist in harmony and mutual respect.
