#Damnoen Saduak Floating Market Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Float along Damnoen Saduak with Trip.com 🛶
I booked a day trip to the floating market and the train market through trip.com. We booked for a private transfer to both markets. We were picked up from our hotel at 9am and taken to both. Our driver spoke good English and was also very kind and helpful. He made sure we were comfortable and shared a lot of information with us about both markets.
The floating market was super busy (we arrived around 11:30). We were taken to the boats and driven along the canals until we reached the shopping area.
If you want to stop and look at the stores, you need to speak up! The same goes for food and drinks. Otherwise you’ll float along without the chance to see much. 🤭
Note that most stores have similar items to sell and the price is higher, but it is on the water, and there are many tourists. You can use your bargaining skills to barter with the store owners.
We didn’t get the chance, but you can also get off the boat along the canals and eat at local restaurants there! #mytravelhacks #trip #thailand #thailandtravel #floatingmarket #holidayvacation #bangkok

Is it worth to visit Thai floating markets?
First of all is important to know that when You go to Bangkok there are many floating markets. The famous one is called Damnoen Saduak, It takes around 1.5 hours to get by car.
Is worth to spend around 2 hours and if possible rent a boat to bring You inside the market and have a full experience of It. But if You prefer also can just walk around the market, all site are accessible by walking.
If You rent a car is important to know that the drivers might try to bring You to some different area from this market and try to sell You another market activity saying that the market can not be acceded by walking. If It happens just show Him the map where You wanna go and tell Him that before come You had searched about It and You know how it works!
By the way is a nice activity to know more about the local culture and old costumes.

The Damnoen Saduak Floating Market is one of Thailand's most popular tourist destinations, known for its vibrant atmosphere and unique shopping experience. But hidden within the market's bustling crowds is a tranquil oasis - the beautiful traditional Buddhist temple inside the Floating Market!
The temple is a beautiful and serene escape from the busy market, with ornate decorations and a sense of peace that's hard to find amidst the crowds. You can take a break from shopping and enjoy the temple's calm atmosphere, admiring the intricate details of the architecture and soaking in the spiritual energy.

Damnoen Saduak Floating Market truly makes up for a great Bangkok day trip. This is such a famous floating market because of the vast number of locals doing business on wooden boats.

🇹🇭 Floating market Damnoen Saduak
One of the floating markets in Bangkok is Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. I used a private driver for this day trip because I needed to drive more than an hour to reach this floating market. Back in the days in Thailand, floating markets were common for daily activities and also known as “Venice of the East”. It is important to keep your belongings waterproof to prevent any accidents. Also, try to have some small notes ready to pay the vendors. I will suggest you have a friend with you so that you can concentrate on taking photos while your friend does the buying and paying the vendors.

Damnoen Saduak floating Market in Ratchaburi is one of the most popular floating markets in Thailand. Every day many Thai and foreign tourists travel here to shop, eat, and absorb the atmosphere of Thailand water markets that have been like this for over a 100 years. Klong Damnoen Saduak Damnoen Saduak is the straightest and longest canal in Thailand. The canal was built on royal initiative as King Rama IV of Thailand wanted to link the Mae Klong River with Chinese river ways to support transportation and trade. It took over 2 years to dig, and was eventually finished under the reign of his successor King Rama V. The canal is 32 kilometers long and has more than 200 branches

Damnoen Saduak Food Trail
Getting There - Guided tour with car / taxi
Attractions - Shopping at the floating market via a boat
Hotels - N.A
Food & Restaurants - Great noodles, coconut ice cream, grilled pork
Shopping - Souvenirs are quite overpriced at up to 300% more. Be prepared to haggle especially when they know you're not a local. Don't be afraid to walk away or ask that your boat be released if you get a bad deal.
Overall for my first visit here, it was sad to see how quiet the pandemic has made this market due to a lack of stores open.
However, it's also presented a great opportunity to explore without the crowds with an off the track experience available from visiting the old market where there's a more rustic and authentic experience with the community.

The best floating market adventure ever
For a long time, Damnoen Saduak has been Thailand's most well-known floating market, but it is also one of the most touristy. Its fame stems in no small part from its use as a backdrop in the 1974 James Bond film The Man with the Golden Gun.
It's enormous, bustling, full of boats selling food and fruits, and it's colorful – precisely as people expect a floating market to look, with the added bonus of being able to take the ideal shot to show them once they get home. It's also roughly 100 kilometers from Bangkok, and as a result of its own success, it frequently lacks an authentic vibe, feeling more like a theme park than a genuine local market.

This is a must go for a tourist in Bangkok. Its an experience of Bangkok outskirt. Being a regular tourist in Bangkok, this one off experience is worth the time. Plenty of food priced reasonably. As for goods and local products, its kind of pricey.

This is a must-do activity whenever you visit Thailand.
Getting There: As budget travellers, We book a trip through Klook. we only paid about 700-800 Thai baht ALL IN, which includes the boat we use here and transportation to this location (roundtrip), this place is almost 2 hours from Bangkok's city. We had fun shopping and eating while on the boat. ☺️
There is no need to rent a hotel nearby because this is like the countryside; instead, stay in a hotel in Bangkok's centre and book a join trip if you are a budget tourist who is comfortable travelling with others. Klook and trip.com offer join tours for this kind of trip! Enjoy travelling✈️😊 ##bangkok #thailand #trip.com

Floating Market - Bangkok
This was a great experience we had never gone to a floating market before and we reached our destination when most of the shops were closed. This was both good and bad because we got to take our time and see everything. The downside was many shops were closed but it was ok. We got to see some elephants along the way and also got a chance to visit the longneck Karens tribe. There were many temples during our boat ride which was amazing!

FLOATING MARKET IN BANGKOK
Exploring the vibrant floating markets in and around Bangkok is the best tour you can do while traveling to Thailand. Each market, a bustling hub of activity, showcases the local way of life and offers an array of fresh produce, street food, and unique goods.
Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, one of the most famous, is a lively spectacle where vendors navigate the waterways, selling everything from fruits to souvenirs.
Taling Chan Floating Market, a bit more local and less crowded, provides an authentic experience with its diverse food stalls.
We recommend using money, not credit cards, it will be much easier to negotiate, so you can enjoy the fascinating and wonderful, good prices from Thailand. We ate coconut ice cream straight from the coconut filled on top with cashew nuts and fresh flowers. The coconut ice cream cost us less than $1.
Remember to arrive early to avoid the crowds and experience the markets at their liveliest. The floating markets are not just places to shop, they're cultural snapshots, reflecting the dynamism and charm of everyday life in Thailand. A must-visit for an immersive taste of local culture.

#2024wish
My 2024 travel wish is to visit Bangkok. I would like to visit their shopping mall such as the central world and the platinum mall. I would also like to visit their wholesale market such as the pratunam market.
The floating market is located two hours drive from the Bangkok city area. There are many food stalls there for you to have your breakfast .You can also shop for things during your ride on the boat. It was a very interesting experience on the boat. You can even buy food and fruits from them while on the boat.

Great Experience Floating Market in Bangkok
#bangkoktrip
Nice, although a bit touristic, but good if you have some time (few hours) to spend in the surroundings of Bangkok. You can enjoy a trip on the small boat or just walk across the market full of local street food.
The market offers a variety of food selection. You can buy your food and sit anywhere. Food is reasonably price. And the boat trip was fun. Our travel tour guide chartered the whole boat.
It’s really nice to spend few hours going on this trip. We had great time and would definitely recommend this.

Thailand’s floating market
For cultural sight explorers like me, this is a must do when in Bangkok. It was an 1hr40minutes drive from Central Siam, but definitely worth the journey, as there are other activities to see and do in that area, including the Railway market.
As soon as the driver dropped me off at the entrance, there were ticket sellers waiting to welcome you lol. A boat ride to the floating market cost 3,000 Baht, however I bought the 4,000 Baht ticket which included the (floating market + monkey show+ Elephant show). Once you’ve paid for your ticket, you’re then escorted to your boat.
First there’s a picturesque ride on the way to the market where you’d encounter sellers of different items (including cannabis!) on the river banks. There were also bars and restaurants. You could tell your boat rider to stop at anytime if you were interested in buying any of the items or grabbing food at the restaurants/bars. At first I thought this was the whole concept of floating market, till 25 minutes later, we arrived at the main floating market which was the coolest thing ever .This bustling market had sellers selling their respective goods on their boats. You can buy food, desserts, souvenirs etc from them whilst you’re still seated on your boat, and them theirs. I bought yummy coconut ice cream and pad Thai (freshly stir fried for me while I waited in my boat). After the ride, you’re taken to a Buddha temple, and then the shows( I didn’t find the monkey show that impressive though). I actually booked the elephant show, but I was informed I’d have to wait extra 25 minutes to see it. By then I was too tired to wait, so I swapped it for crocodile show instead. The whole experience took about 2.5 hours
