[2025 Kyoto Stay] Travel Guide for DoubleTree by Hilton Kyoto Higashiyama (Updated May)

The exterior, lobby, and guest rooms were all beautiful and stylish. I stayed in a Japanese-style room this time, which was spacious and had a soft, fluffy bed, so I was able to relax and enjoy my time. My room had a bath, but there was also a large public bath on the lobby floor. You entered by swiping your card key, so I was able to bathe without worry. The hotel staff were also very polite and it was a hotel I'd like to stay at again.

It's about a 20-minute walk to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, but we gave up due to heavy snow. But this hotel was so good that I was glad we could stay there for so long. The room had a Japanese feel and was a relaxing space. All the staff were kind and polite, and the breakfast was very delicious. | I can’t put down this window in the room🪟. This hotel in Kyoto is the "DoubleTree by Hilton Higashiyama" which opened in 2023. It is about 200 meters away from Kiyomizu-Gojo Station and can be reached on foot. Or you can come out of the hotel, cross the road, and walk along the Kamo River. You can also walk to the more lively Gion. 🏨 The hotel is in log style. There are occasional performances in the lobby bar, and on the other side is the hot spring entrance♨️ All hotel guests can enjoy it. Although the lobby is on the underground floor, the ceiling is high enough. So it will appear extra spacious. Of course, the signature cookies of DoubleTree are indispensable when checking in🍪 It’s still hot when you hold it in your hand, and you’ll love it every time you eat it. 🛏️ We booked a basic room, 25 square meters, which is neither too big nor too small. There is also a shower + bathtub, which is separated from the bathroom. Separation of wet and dry areas. Of course, my favorite is the window next to the bed. Kyoto Higashiyama DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Review The first stop of my trip to Kyoto was the Higashiyama DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, where I stayed as a Diamond member. The hotel is very conveniently located. I came from Osaka and got off at Kiyomizu-Gojo Station, and it was only a 2-minute walk to the hotel. I arrived at the hotel at 12 pm. As it was not yet check-in time, I stored my luggage and went to Kiyomizu-dera Temple. The hotel is not far from Kiyomizu-dera Temple, about a 25-minute walk. The hotel lobby is on the B1 floor, so you need to go down from P2-P3 after entering the hotel. ✅Soundproofing/Cleanliness: The review did not mention any soundproofing issues, and the overall cleanliness was good. 🏘️Room Type/Layout: The room is about 30 square meters, which is relatively spacious for Japan. However, the space is a bit tight when you put a 28-inch suitcase in the room. The bed is similar to a tatami mat, with a low height and a soft mattress. The room is clearly divided into functional areas, with a separate toilet, bathroom, bathtub, and sink. When you open the curtains, you can see the road outside. Although there is no special view, you can enjoy the rainbow when it rains, which is quite pleasant. 🛌Supplies/Facilities: Although the hotel does not have a lounge, there is a happy hour from 5 pm to 6 pm every day, with a wide variety of drinks to meet your needs. The breakfast is rich in variety, with staple foods such as rice and bread, and fresh fruit for a balanced diet. The hotel also has a public bath (not hot spring water), which is separated by gender and requires full nudity. The bath is not large, but there are few people, so you can enjoy a comfortable experience. In addition, the soda machine downstairs is worth mentioning, as it produces delicate bubbles, which is a must-try for soda lovers. 💰Per Capita Consumption: 200+ The cost performance is still very high. 💗Other Tips: The hotel does not provide luggage delivery service to the room, so you need to handle it yourself.

The hotel staff was very friendly and tried their best to accommodate my requests, such as not wanting the room to be near the back of the elevator. The hotel offers free homemade cookies (one per person) when you check in. Although the purpose is to get you to buy the hotel's own cookies, the taste is very good. The staff communicated in English and it felt like they were not in Japanese. The hotel facilities are 10 points perfect, and the bathing experience is 10 points good. The key point is that the room is very clean and tidy, but the location is not very convenient, unless you want to go to Kiyomizu Temple, it is very close, but if you want to be close to many shops, this place is not suitable. There is also a large public bath, so you can warm yourself from the inside out even on cold days. Breakfast has a wide variety of Japanese, Western and Chinese dishes, but the Japanese food is particularly good. The rice is delicious ✨ The salmon pickled in saikyo and rolled omelet are great for rice. I would like to stay here again when I come to Kyoto.
