A world to see
“It is not down in any map, true places never are” - Herman Melville
It was unforgettable autumn trip we had in Switzerland. Once you hike down this Eiger Trail, other places sceneries are not comparable anymore.
Getting There - From Jungfraujoch : Take Mountain Train down to Eigergletscher station. Find Eiger Trail sign behind the station/ask the staff, start there and just follow the route.
Attractions - Hiking with breathtaking scenery, suitable for healthy children (around 5+ y.o) with guardian/adults.
Duration : 2.5h - 4h, depends on your own pace.

Grindelwald: A crime if you miss it!
Get here by train! We came via Basel and just enjoyed the scenic views from the huge train windows. Lake, villages, mountains, you won’t want to close your eyes!
Coming here in early autumn, we escaped the crowds and could explore First, Eiger, and Jungfraujoch with ease and little wait time. The mountains are magnificent all thru the year! The colours of the landscape will change and hiking to the Balchapsee is an experience in itself. Discovering WCs in the middle of nowhere, up
in the mountains, complete with toilet tissue is something only the Swiss can guarantee!
There are many hotels in this little village and all are within walking distance of the train station. We stayed at the Eiger Aparthotel as we wanted to prepare our own meals to save cost. Bookings come with daily afternoon tea and the variety of cakes, teas and coffees were an absolute treat!
There are many cafes around for fondue and all sorts of local delights. We opted to explore the two supermarkets for raw ingredients and cooked up our own dinners at a fraction of the cost of eating out. Do check out the different yogurt flavours, types of cheese, and cured meats too!
As it is a tourist destination, you can get souvenirs and major brands here. There is a post office (to send postcards) and some banks if you need forex.
My #2023travelwish is to drop by this beautiful place again in the SUMMER and take in the wonders of creation ❤️

Wengen
Wengen is a charming village located in the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland. Situated at an altitude of around 1,274 meters (4,180 feet), it offers breathtaking views of the surrounding Jungfrau massif, including the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau peaks. Wengen is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts, especially hikers and skiers, with numerous trails and ski slopes accessible from the village. The village itself has a traditional Swiss ambiance, with wooden chalets, flower-bedecked balconies, and cozy cafes. It's car-free, adding to its peaceful atmosphere, and can be reached by train from Lauterbrunnen.
Kleine Scheidegg
Kleine Scheidegg is a mountain pass situated in the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland, between the Eiger and Lauberhorn peaks. It's a popular destination for tourists and outdoor enthusiasts, offering stunning panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, including the iconic Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. Kleine Scheidegg is also a gateway to the Jungfraujoch, often referred to as the "Top of Europe," accessible by the Jungfrau Railway.
Swiss memories of a lucid dream on the Jungfrau
I put down my eyelids and thoughts in the wooden house, and I can enjoy the tranquility of being in the snow scene outside the window without appreciation, and I can catch the trance of the moment in the fireplace without concentration. What I can't forget is the last descent in Grindelwald. Under the setting sun, I broke into the sea of clouds with the train, and vaguely saw that the north wall of the Eiger Peak above did not touch the snow and broke through the fog, and the golden peak reflected the afterglow into this world that should only be white. I don't want to stay, bypass the crowd who stop to admire, pass through the tunnel under the railway track, pass through the invisible scenery, pass through the path in the forest...
The fog buries the familiar road
There is no eye-catching scenery to crowd the sight, the snowboard cuts accurately on the snow, and the snow stirred up is noisy and harmonious
There is no changing scenery to judge the speed
But I know the time when the snowflakes pass through the body, the road under my feet drags the fanaticism away, the breath is stripped away with the cold wind, every nerve is stripped away, I dissipate in the fog, and let the body sink into the sea bottom
sledging at first mountain!!
Over 50 kilometres of sledging runs: No matter what appeals to sledging fans, they will find all their tastes catered for in the Jungfrau region. Those who enjoy tactical manoeuvres take the fox run next to the Lauberhorn route to Wengen. Enthusiasts who appreciate sledging diversity will find it in Mürren and on Männlichen. Perservere in the hike from Grindelwald-First to Faulhorn and you'll be rewarded with the longest descent in the world. And those who are really lusting after adventure must take to the Jungfrau Eiger run - at night.
explore swiss
Adventure seekers race at speeds of up to 84 km/h down an 800 metre-long cable from First to the Schreckfeld intermediate station. Sitting in the security of a harness and brought to a halt by a spring at the bottom, up to 4 people can enjoy the gigantic Tyrolienne simultaneously.
Group reservations are only accepted for the morning. FREE for holders of a Jungfrau or Grindelwald-Wengen Sport Pass
Switzerland's Jungfrau region has four very famous towns, Grindelwald, Wengen, Lauterbrunnen and Murren. The first two are on the Jungfrau, and the latter two are more convenient. I chose Shelang on the trip. But before I saw other people's travel notes, I was deeply touched by the scenery of the dreamy hillside, so I chose Grindelwald without hesitation when choosing! I want to see the legendary "Fantasy Hillside"! The dreamy hillside is a hillside opposite the town of Grindelwald, at the foot of the Eiger, close to the Grindelwald Grund.
Blue sky, snowy mountains, meadows, plus the decoration of the cabin, everything looks so harmonious, natural!
Fantasy hillside is at the foot of Eiger, which is known as the four northern walls!
You can also see the small train from the Jungfrau in the distance. It should be driving to Grindelwald Grund.
