Ginkakuji temple
Getting There - bus from kyoto station
This is near to philosopher's path so do consider to visit if you intend to spend about half day in this area. Entrance fee of 500yen is needed. The temple is small but very very well kept.
Once you paid the entrance fee, just follow the designated path to view the place. There are stairs so definitely not recommended for wheelchair users or people with walking disability

Enchanted garden
Ginkaku-ji or the temple of the silver pavilion, are popular names of Jishōji, an important subtemple of the Shōkokuji branch of Rinzai Zen Buddhism located in Kyoto. This villa was inspired by the golden pavilion and is definitely worth a visit. The surrounding garden is most beautiful, my second favourite after Kenroku-en! In recognition of its aesthetic and cultural value, Ginkaku-ji was designated a UNESCO world heritage site in 1994.
The route, a one way railed walk through the garden, takes about 30 mins to cover. The wooded grounds covered with a variety of mosses feel absolutely magical, as if a fairy will pop out from behind a tree any moment. At the very start of the route, you will be greeted by the famous sand garden which has sand piles which symbolize Mount Fuji - a beautiful and unique feature.
Do not discard your ticket after your visit, you can hang it at the entry to your house as a good luck charm!
Japan's iconic temple
Ginkakuji Temple(銀閣寺) is located in Kyoto Japan and was built by Shogun Yoshimasa Ashikaga(足利義政). The construction first started in 1482 and completed in 1490.
It is Japan's national treasure as well as UNESCO World Heritage site, along with Kinkakuji Temple(銀閣寺).
Not only is the temple beautiful, but the Japanese garden around it is well worth seeing. The view from the top of the stairs overlooks the city of Kyoto and allows you to relax and unwind.

Golden Pavilion (Kinkakuji Temple)
I never thought I’d be able to visit my dream place. Although it was rainy, the beauty of the temple glowed even more.
The temple used to be a Family Villa of a Shogun (Samurai Head). When the Shogun died, he ordered to transform it into a temple.
The place is well-kept. There are signs and guides and security staff that help maintain its serenity. As visitors it is our obligation to avoid making loud noises and leaving trash behind.
Right before exiting the temple, there’s a tea house where you can try the temple’s sweets speciality for only 500¥/5$. Again, when inside the tea house, maintain silence. I hope you can visit here too. ❤️

Higashiyama Jisho-ji or must known as Ginkakuji meaning Temple of Silver Pavillon located at Kyoto, Japan. With its moss covered gardens, bamboo groves, and interesting dry-sand garden, it is perfectly describe “simplicity is beauty”. Even before you enter the temple grounds you are greeted by a bamboo fence lined along towering hedges. You can’t help but look up as you walk along and admire the beautiful view of a line of sky between the foliage.
Entrance to the temple grounds is 500 yen.
Make sure you keep your admission ticket as it also doubles as a good luck charm! You can hang these charms on the entrance way of your home or on the door of a room. The charm is for good fortune and keeping your family safe.

Ginkaku Temple to enjoy maple, view the beautiful Kyoto dusk
Ginkakuji, also known as Dongshan Cezhao Temple, is one of the Tate's Temple of Xiangguo Temple. The name of the Ginkakuji Temple originates from the Edo period and is known as the Ginkakuji Temple opposite the Kinkakuji Temple. Although the name is opposite to the Kinkakuji Temple, it is different from the Kinkakuji Temple. Because the temple building of the Ginkakuji Temple is not decorated with silver, on the contrary, the Ginkakuji Temple fully reflects the Japanese aesthetics as light as tea.
The Guanyin Temple in the temple is a treasure of the country. The Yueyuetai with white sand and the silver beach filled with wavy lines are not to be missed. The dry landscape of the Ginkakuji Temple is a major focus of visiting the temple. It seems that the dry landscape here was rebuilt in the Edo period. It is said that the design of the dry landscape garden and the silver pavilion is built with the reflection of the night and the moonlight. It is even necessary to sit on the platform and wait for the moon to come out.
If you want to go to the observation deck on the mountain, you will first go through the pool spring returning garden together with Shiyuequan. There are many kinds of trees here, including the evergreen pine trees and the autumn leaves, as well as the early spring. The cherry blossoms, all year round, are all different colors.
The Ginkakuji Temple is not particularly famous for its scenic spots, but you can also see the red maple leaves here. At the beginning of December, after an autumn rain, there were already fallen leaves and the moss in the forest. It was also a beautiful picture.
The prospect of the Ginkakuji Temple is the best place to enjoy the old town of Kyoto. From the perspective of the city overlooking the mountains, the clouds are scattered, and the sunset light shines on the ancient city of Kyoto. The red maple leaves and the quaint temples are in front of each other, forming a beautiful and tranquil landscape.

Ginkakuji Temple in Kyoto was a serene escape on my spring vacation! 🌸 The entrance fee was around $5, which felt like a steal for the tranquility and beauty it offered. Walking through the meticulously landscaped gardens was like stepping into a peaceful oasis, perfect for #ZenSeekers and #NatureLovers alike. The iconic Silver Pavilion gleamed in the sunlight, offering a glimpse into Japan's rich cultural heritage. Nearby, the Philosopher's Path provided a scenic stroll along a cherry tree-lined canal, ideal for soaking in the beauty of spring blossoms. After exploring the temple grounds, I indulged in some delicious matcha treats at the nearby tea houses. Ginkakuji Temple was a timeless treasure that left me feeling rejuvenated and inspired. 🍵🌿

A must-visit on your Kyoto trip! Ginkaku-ji, a perfect blend of Zen and aesthetics
Guys, today I'm going to take you to a shining gem of Kyoto City - Ginkaku-ji! The beauty of this place lies not only in its historical and cultural heritage, but also in the transcendent and serene beauty of Zen.
📍Location: Ginkaku-ji (Silver Pavilion) is located in the Sakyo Ward of Kyoto City, Japan, which is what we often refer to as 'Ginkaku-ji'. Although named 'silver', the temple is not covered in silver foil; instead, it's the simplicity of the natural wood tones that instantly transports you to the elegant atmosphere of the Muromachi shogunate era.
🔍Historical Secrets: The temple was passionately built by the eighth shogun of the Muromachi shogunate, Ashikaga Yoshimasa, starting in 1482, as his place of retirement and Zen meditation. Compared to the glittering gold, Ginkaku-ji is more subdued and elegant, resembling a light ink landscape painting, quietly telling the stories of the years.
👀Highlights:
1️⃣ Kannon-den & Shouin-dou: The two-story pavilions each have their own characteristics. Kannon-den is modeled after the reliquary hall of Saiho-ji, and Shouin-dou serves as a place for Zen meditation, with Buddha statues enshrined within, and every brick and tile is imbued with the profound philosophy of Zen Buddhism.
2️⃣ Ultimate Garden Art: The east and west gardens are like miniature natural scrolls, especially the Kogetsudai, symbolizing Mount Fuji, and the delicate karesansui (dry landscape) rock garden, as if you can hear the sound of time flowing through your fingertips. Take a set of artistic photos and become the star of your social circle! 📸
🌍World Heritage Charm: Ginkaku-ji has been listed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site since 1994, and is one of the cultural treasures of the ancient capital, Kyoto. Here, you can not only feel the profound influence of Zen culture but also experience the unique charm of traditional Japanese aesthetics. 🗺️
How can you miss the poetic and Zen-filled Ginkaku-ji when in Kyoto? Here, every scene is a story, and every step is a practice. Remember to bring your camera to capture this tranquil and profound beauty, and leave your unique footprint in the long history of Kyoto! 👣💫
Overseas Travel Series Kyoto Ginkakuji & The Path of Philosophy
Kyoto, there are many temples.
In my top 5, Ginkakuji is definitely on the list.
Compared to the always crowded Kinkakuji, Ginkakuji is more simple and peaceful.
The long path into the temple, hidden under the tree 'walls' on both sides, as you walk through, the courtyard full of white sand unfolds before your eyes, and the world seems to have quieted down.
Leaving Ginkakuji, returning to the market, walking along the Path of Philosophy, how to live a good ordinary life is a 'philosophical' question that everyone needs to think seriously about.

Japanese Photography | Kyoto's Low-key Top Temple: Ginkaku-ji
One of the most famous temples in Kyoto is undoubtedly the Golden Pavilion Temple, and there is another corresponding temple in Kyoto: the Silver Pavilion Temple. The Silver Pavilion Temple, originally named Jisho-ji Temple, is a temple of the Rinzai sect of the Shogun's temple school. The buildings and gardens in the temple are representative of the Higashiyama culture of the late Muromachi period. It is also one of the must-visit temples in Kyoto.
⛩️History of the Silver Pavilion Temple
The Jisho-ji Temple was built by the eighth shogun of the Muromachi shogunate, Ashikaga Yoshimasa, and was founded by the monk Muan Soshiki. During its construction, Yoshimasa imitated the shariden (Golden Pavilion) of the Rokuon-ji Temple and built a two-story building called the Kannon-den (Silver Pavilion), thus the Jisho-ji Temple became commonly known as the Ginkaku-ji Temple.
🏯Architectural highlights
✨The Guanyin Hall is not decorated with silver, and its appearance is not silver-white. In fact, the entire silver pavilion is built of exposed logs, with a deep brown color close to dark green. The reason why it is called the silver pavilion is not only to echo the Golden Pavilion of the Deer Garden Temple, but also a symbol of Ashikaga Yoshimasa's desire to break away from his grandfather's governing philosophy and start anew.
✨The Tendai Buddhist temple has unique dry landscape gardens made of white sand, including the "Silver Sand Beach" and two gravel formations called "Toward the Moon Platform," which were created in the late Edo period with simple curves and straight lines. The design of the "Toward the Moon Platform" resembles a miniature geometric model of Mount Fuji. At night, moonlight reflects onto the Silver Pavilion. These designs correspond with the understated elegance of the Silver Pavilion.
✨The wooden roof of the Silver Pavilion Temple is the highest level of Japanese architecture, consistent with the practice of the Imperial Palace.
✨From the backyard of the Silver Pavilion Temple, you can see the panoramic view of the northern part of Kyoto city.
📷Camera angle
👉Fusion camera position towards the platform and Guanyin Hall.
👉Take a photo of Kyoto from the mountaintop behind the courtyard.
👉Near Cizhao Temple, there is the philosophy of Taoism, and the cherry blossom season is a stunning view.

Kyoto, Japan ⚠️Travel during the cherry blossom season.
Image 3, I forgot which famous cherry blossom viewing spot near Shijo it was, crowded with people.
Japanese people enjoy not only taking photos of flowers, but also having picnics and browsing various stalls, so many flower viewing spots are covered with plastic sheets, making the scene similar to a local park.
Many cherry blossom viewing spots in Kyoto are located in ancient ⛩️ and temples. The advantage is that there are no picnicking tourists and the atmosphere of morning and night markets is relatively light, but the disadvantage is that there are too many tourists.
However, all the popular tourist attractions such as Kinkaku-ji, Ginkaku-ji, Arashiyama, Kiyomizu-dera, Fushimi Inari-taisha, Tenryu-ji, Nanzen-ji... are always crowded with visitors. During cherry blossom season, it's even more crowded. 🍁And don't even mention the autumn foliage season...
For example, Long'an Temple in Figures 4-5... how to put it, a calm heart brings its own Zen.
These scenic spots are all worth a visit! 11 years ago, my photography skills were only good enough to select one out of a hundred shots, but looking back, I still remember the stunning feeling of being there.
Just bear with the crowd, it will be a once-in-a-lifetime unforgettable experience.
⚠️Tips:
1️⃣When planning your itinerary, check the Japanese public holidays and try not to schedule your Kyoto trip on weekends and holidays.
2️⃣️The whole city is filled with simple and elegant Zen aesthetics, and there are beautiful scenery between mountains and waters, which is very suitable for walking. When walking or taking a tram 🚃, put down your phone and look up more. There will always be a moment that makes you feel amazed. The 🌸 I like are almost all taken when I wander aimlessly.
3️⃣️Famous temples planned route for 2 days 🉑️to visit, others probably wrote more detailed routes but I'll save myself the trouble. Actually just want to share some photos.
4️⃣️Take a good stroll around the area near Sijiao. In addition to modern shopping malls, there are many old shops worth trying and taking away. Most of them are not tourist traps, but genuine old shops with craftsmanship.
5️⃣️There is a manga museum in Kyoto with a rich collection and stunning content. It's a must-visit for anime fans!
The following few photos were taken at Arima Onsen ♨️ and Tokyo, I love them so much.
The photos were all taken blindly with Fuji products when I knew nothing about cameras back then. Unfortunately, they were lost in a sand pit in Mui Ne, Vietnam three years later.
I love Fuji ❤️.
Kyoto, Kyoto Prefecture
Ginkakuji, or sometimes called Higashiyama Jisho-ji, is also known to be the Silver Temple, as opposite to Kinkakuji, or the Gold Temple. Ginkakuji is another popular temple of Kyoto, located in Sakyo-ku. It showcases the Higashiyama culture of the Muromachi Period. Entrance fee to the temple costs ¥500. If you happened to visit Kinkakuji, you should also visit Ginkakuji, because they are a set!
#wintergetaway
Among the temples in Kyoto, the temples such as Luyuan Temple, Cizhao Temple and Qingshui Temple are the most famous. Luyuan Temple is also called Kinkakuji Temple, and the Tszhao Temple is also known as the Ginkakuji Temple. The Ginkaku, the Ginkaku and the Feiyun Pavilion in the Nishi Honganji Temple are collectively known as the Three Pavilions of Beijing. They all have profound human values and unique architecture. aesthetics. The name of the
Ci Zhao Temple is called the Ginkaku Temple. The main reason is that there is a Guanyin Temple called the Silver Pavilion. This temple is the main hall of the Cizhao Temple. It is the eighth generation general of the Muromachi Shogunate era in Japan. Built by the relic temple in the temple (that is, the Golden Pavilion). The pavilion on the lake has two floors, and the roof is decorated with bronze phoenix statues, but it was placed in the middle and late 18th century.
Ci Zhao Temple has a stone court in the courtyard, and the Zen master's dream window opens the stone to create a beautiful arc of garden art on the ground. It is worth mentioning that most of the existing garden art in the Cizhao Temple is copied from the Middle-earth Tang Dynasty and can be regarded as the perfect legacy of the Tang Dynasty architecture in other places.
The architectural pattern of the whole Cixi Temple fully demonstrates the designer's superb artistic accomplishment, among which the dry landscape, the silver beach and the moon platform are the most special creations, especially the silver sand beach and the platform, the curve and the straight line design method. Simple and generous, although they were formed in the late Edo period in Japan, they have an aesthetic appeal across the ages.
Transportation: Take the city bus on the 5th, 17th, and 100th roads from JR Kyoto Station, get off at "Ginkakujiji" and walk for 5 minutes. Get off at "Kawasaki Main Line" and get off at "Machiwajima". 10 minutes
Kyoto Ginkakuji Temple, there should be a lot less people than the Golden Pavilion Temple. The bus can only go by bus. Dad is not willing to squeeze the bus and can only charter. First go to the Yongguantang where there are many people, then come to the Ginkakuji Temple. Because the glittering attic in the center of the pond at Kinkakuji has been seen in the circle of friends in spring and summer or autumn and winter, so choose the Ginkakuji Temple with few people.
Here is the villa courtyard built by the generals of Ashikaga to follow the grandfather's Kinkakuji. There is also a silver pavilion in the center of the pond. The one behind the tree in Figure 3 is not well maintained. Instead, I walked up the hill to see the scenery of the Ginkakuji Temple and Kyoto more interesting.
Speaking of the essence of Dongshan culture is "sudden silence." "" refers to the aesthetics of avoiding modification and gorgeous quality.
