Shizuoka: A Healing Journey Gifted by Mount Fuji and Nature
Shizuoka, located near Mount Fuji, is a city where you can fully experience the natural beauty of Japan. It’s easily accessible from Tokyo via the Shinkansen, making it a convenient destination. With the sea, mountains, and hot springs all in one place, Shizuoka is truly a charming travel spot.
The first place I visited was **Miho no Matsubara**. The pine forest, the endless beach, and the majestic Mount Fuji towering in the background created a breathtaking view. It’s a spot where you can see both the sea and the mountains simultaneously, and just walking around there brought a sense of peace to my mind.
Next, I went to **Lake Motosu**, one of the Fuji Five Lakes. The reflection of Mount Fuji on the lake was like a painting. Seeing the scenery depicted on the back of the 1,000 yen bill in real life made it feel even more special. Along the lakeside, there were people enjoying camping and kayaking. The water was clear and tranquil, allowing me to fully immerse myself in the healing power of nature.
I also visited the Shizuoka tea fields, where the endless green tea plantations stretched out with Mount Fuji visible in the distance. The view was incredibly impressive. The freshly brewed local green tea had a deep and smooth aroma, distinctly different from the tea I usually drink.
Heading down to the Izu Peninsula, I enjoyed Atami hot springs and the coastal scenery, which made for a fulfilling day trip. Soaking in a hot spring while gazing at the sea was the ultimate relaxation experience.
Unlike bustling cities, Shizuoka offers a place to feel nature and tradition. It’s especially unique because you can admire Mount Fuji from various angles up close. With both urban and natural attractions nearby, Shizuoka is a highly satisfying travel destination even for a short trip.
