#Ruby sugar Hotel Quzhou Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Quzhou | What it's like to live in an ancient architectural scenic area
Hi, I'm Nuyoah, this time my travel destination is Quzhou, the city of Confucian etiquette and also an ancient city. Among its famous attractions, 'Shuitingmen' is second to none, and what is it like to stay in the scenic area?
Homestay Name: Quzhou Ruby sugar Hotel
Address: No. 22, Xiaying Street, Kecheng District, Quzhou, inside the Shuitingmen scenic area
Price: 300+, very cost-effective
The hotel just opened in 2023, a collision between German brand and Republic of China style. As soon as you enter the lobby, you are deeply attracted by the reception area, with its strong retro vibe. At night, it can instantly transform into a bar, complete with live residency. The room area is divided into the main building and the annex. The main building is connected to the front, and it can be a bit noisy on the first floor during peak season. The annex is a neighboring building with only 6 rooms, its advantage is quietness, but the downside is that there is no elevator, and luggage must be carried upstairs by oneself.
The room type we chose is 'lovely classic twin room', equipped with a Marshall speaker. As soon as I open my eyes, I immediately connect via Bluetooth, no need for a TV
And the hotel's features don't stop there, it has a large stepped classroom-style area where you can read books or hold discussion meetings, and the rooftop terrace of the main building also offers a direct view of the bell tower, and you can enjoy outdoor dining when the weather is good.
I must admit, what attracts me is not only the decoration style but also its prime location, located opposite the ancient wall of Shuitingmen, you can see the core landmark as soon as you step out, and before the tourists arrive, we can go up the ancient city tower to snap photos, effectively avoiding the crowd. In the evening, there are many residents by the river enjoying their post-dinner walk, and the most surprising thing is the riverside light show, they really spare no expense, lighting up half the sky.
Nearby attractions: Tianwang Tower, Bell Tower, Ancient City Tower, Beimen Street, all within walking distance. And it's very convenient to take a taxi to other attractions.
If you don't know where to go in Quzhou, you might want to try this place, I'm already planning to come back and stay here again

Quzhou | A luxurious and retro treasure hotel
A luxurious and retro treasure hotel. In Quzhou's Shuitingmen, there is such a hotel🏨
Ⅰ It is located northeast of the city wall facing Jingmen, with the main entrance facing the Qu River. If you are a retro enthusiast🎻 and a photography lover📷, then you must come here to check in🤟.
Ⅱ The retro decoration style is perfectly combined with the modern city. The hotel lobby is equipped with a bar counter, cafe, western restaurant, library, and other public facilities. Every step offers a view, with lighting arrangements and retro decorations that immerse you in the experience of the ancient atmosphere.
(p2 lobby, p3 library, p4 restaurant)
Ⅲ The rooms are small but compact and luxurious, with all the necessary facilities. It is said that each room is equipped with a Marshall speaker, achieving perfection in the details. Since my room was not on the river-facing side due to the popularity of reservations, I missed out, but the view of the old town's pavilions outside the window was also very fitting.
(p5 room interior, p6 Marshall speaker, p7 room interior, p8 outside view)
Ⅳ When you come to this hotel, how can you miss the rooftop? Order a cocktail in the lobby (it's free, oh), and sit on the rooftop in the twilight evening drinking a cocktail waiting for the sunset🌇, isn't it beautiful? From here, you can also see two famous check-in spots on Shuiting Street, Tianwang Tower and the Western Clock Tower. This feeling can only be understood by experiencing it yourself.

💰 Hotel Price: About 300+ in the off-season, and the price doesn't increase too much during the peak season, making it a light luxury hotel.
🦶 Surrounding Environment:
① Shuitingmen area, this is an old district with a rich Jiangnan style, suitable for walking, browsing, taking photos, and eating delicious food. To the east is Tianwang Tower, and to the south is Jingmen.

Missing out on Quzhou would be such a regret
When it comes to Quzhou🏯, everyone thinks of many internet-famous check-in spots📸, but I just want to deeply appreciate the beauty of Shuitingmen🌉.
I chose to stay right by the city wall of Shuitingmen because the strategy guides mentioned that the hotel's upper floors offer perfect views of the Tianwang Tower🗼, the Clock Tower⏱, and the city wall, making it an excellent location.

The hotel has a retro🎙 Republic of China style, perfectly integrating the bar🥂 and the lobby into one. The layout of the public areas is so well-designed that you can take great photos🌈 anywhere.
⛱Room facilities
I stayed in a king room this time, with a free mini-bar, a large bathtub🛁 equipped with a disposable bath bag and bath salts🧴, and a room equipped with a Marshall speaker🎧. The sound quality is very good👍 when playing music during a bath. The room also features a silk-lian mattress, goose down comforter🛌, and two different types of pillows, ensuring a good night's sleep until naturally waking up.
🌟Highlights
The hotel has its own restaurant🥣, bar🥂, coffee shop☕️, conference room📹, and book bar📖. The third floor has a large terrace, with the Tianwang Tower🗼 on one side and the Clock Tower and city wall on the other. When night falls, it's great to have a drink on the rooftop and watch the light show🌆.

Second visit to Quzhou | Immerse yourself in this retro treasure
My weekends are mostly spent wandering around the Jiangsu and Zhejiang areas near Shanghai, but I rarely come to Quzhou, Zhejiang, because it takes nearly 5 hours to drive, which is a bit far. However, taking the high-speed train is actually more convenient! It takes just over 2 hours to get there, and last week we had a leisurely 48 hours without the need for special forces or rushing!
🏘️ Located in the Confucian cultural core area of Shuitingmen in Kecheng District, Quzhou, it is the district with the most concentrated traditional architectural style and the richest historical and cultural heritage in Quzhou. On the basis of retaining the 'Three Streets and Seven Alleys', it has been transformed into an emerging tourist area. Compared to those crowded commercial ancient towns, this place is fashionable yet not commercial. Walking on the cobblestone roads, you can still feel the influence of history.
🏘️ The landmark buildings within Shuitingmen include the Xisheng Building, one of Quzhou's nine great towers, a newly built Western-style bell tower, and the oldest Tianwang Pagoda in Quzhou. To check in at all three buildings, we booked accommodation within Shuitingmen, which was really great‼️
🌟 Quzhou Ruby Sugar Treasure Hotel
📍 No. 22, Xiaying Street, Kecheng District, inside Shuitingmen Scenic Area
🏨 The hotel is located within the scenic area and has an excellent geographical location. There is an open terrace on the third floor, where you can see the Tianwang Pagoda, the bell tower, and the Xisheng Building at the same time, especially during the evening blue hour when the buildings are lit up, it's truly beautiful!
🍹 The entire indoor public area is also created with a retro atmosphere, with old-fashioned bicycles, suitcases, and wall posters... all giving a sense of traveling back in time.
🛏️ The rooms are not very large, but simple and clean, and are equipped with my favorite high-quality sound system. The bedding is also very comfortable, and we spent most of our time either listening to music in the room or watching the scenery on the third-floor terrace.
🍴 The hotel's own restaurant serves mostly Western-style dishes, as well as Chinese cuisine, and the breakfast variety is quite rich and tasty. There are also many restaurants and snacks within the Shuitingmen scenic area.

My fourth visit to Quzhou! This hotel is the epitome of luxury
🎶I've been to Quzhou four times, and each time it brings me full of surprises. The first time I was here, I saw the Quzhou Nanzong Confucius Temple, which is as famous as the one in Qufu; the second time, I wandered through the streets and alleys, tasting many Quzhou local snacks; the third time, I encountered the Southern Dynasty Guanyin Buddha statue at the Quzhou City Museum; and this time, I found a treasure of a hotel - Quzhou Ruby Sugar Hotel, right at Shuitingmen.

👇Travel Tips:
22 Xia Ying Street, Kecheng District (next to Shuitingmen)
🚗About 15 minutes by taxi from Quzhou high-speed train station
·
🏢The hotel's exterior is a Jiangnan-style residential building with white walls and black tiles, but once you push open the door, it's a different world. The first thing you see in the lobby is like a dance hall from the 70s-80s. There are decorations like violins, Go sets, electric guitars, drum sets, vintage motorcycles, and gramophones scattered around.
·
💥The hotel has three floors, and the staircase in the central corridor has been turned into a public reading space. It's great to take a book and sit on the steps for a photo. My room was a large bed room on the 3rd floor, with a window overlooking Shuitingmen. There's also a viewing platform with a great view next to it, where you can take photos with both Shuitingmen and Tianwang Tower.
💥Let's take a look inside the room. As soon as you enter, you can see a wash mirror with a circle of lights, separating the wash area from the living area. Most of the amenities in the room are branded, with Silian mattresses, Voss mineral water, and of course, the most surprising is the Marshall speaker.
🍜Oh, and the hotel's meals are also exquisite, with dinner options like pasta, steak, cocktails, etc., and a breakfast that combines Chinese and Western elements, such as coffee, buns, desserts, and also Quzhou's local specialties like rice noodles and duck heads.

Quzhou Ruby Sugar Hotel | The gorgeous transformation of the old sugar factory
📷 I've had Quzhou duck head many times, but this is my first time in Quzhou. This is a famous Jiangnan cultural city with a history of more than 1800 years. To deeply understand the story of this old city, I went to a place that can reflect the style of the old city: Shuitingmen, and stayed here for one night.
🎊 The Ruby Sugar Hotel where I stayed this time is located in the historical and cultural block of Quzhou Shuitingmen, adjacent to Qujiang and Tianwang Tower, with a good geographical location. The predecessor of the hotel building is an old sugar factory, which has now been gorgeously transformed into a trendy hotel. It can be said that this hotel is a microcosm of the old city's story.
👍 The hotel's compound lobby design style is very unique, integrating some local elements of Quzhou with European elements from the 1920s and 1930s. The space layout is both traditional and fashionable. Two lines connect the western restaurant, bar, coffee shop, book bar and guest room area. The bar counter is the hotel front desk, which adds a lot of fun to explore the hotel.
🌸 The hotel's more than 30 rooms are distributed in the front and back buildings. The main building has three floors, and the roof has a panoramic viewing terrace overlooking the river, which can take in the scenery of Shuitingmen. The annex has only two floors, with 3 rooms on each floor. Compared with the main building, it is quieter. The room I chose this time is here.
🌺 The supplies and detail design in the guest room are full of modern retro elements, coupled with different theme lights, there is a kind of unobtrusive high-end texture. The bedding is soft and comfortable, equipped with German high-definition washing and care, and there are private large bathtubs, free mini bars, the quality is really good.
🍱 The breakfast time is from 7 to 10 o'clock, and the dining place is in the western restaurant on the first floor of the main building. Unexpectedly, duck head noodles are provided for breakfast, so I don't have to go out to buy duck head specially, it's really considerate.
🌳 Because the hotel is in the Shuitingmen scenic area, there are many attractions to visit around, such as the Bell Tower, Tianwang Tower and Tianhou Palace, etc., which can be reached within a few minutes' walk. Friends who are coming to Quzhou for tourism and are still looking for accommodation might consider here.
