best place for Japanese food in TAKA
Can’t get enough of this delicious bowl of Bara Chirashi Donburi's ($48). Fresh thick slices of sashimi, some of which melted in the mouth, pair with a mouthful of tasty sushi rice. I can finish a bowl by myself~
Renowned for its luxurious Gucci homeware and Kagami crystalware, Hazuki sets the stage for a truly sophisticated meal. And their new ala carte menu is a culinary masterpiece, perfect for both lunch and dinner.
If you are heading in a group, there’s the lavish A5 Wagyu Sirloin Donabe too. Designed for at least two person, it is slow-cooked to perfection.

Takashimaya X Harijanto Flora Extravagance
#singapore
Currently there is a floral arrangement exhibition in Takashimaya. The flowers, plants, and other botanical materials are creatively arranged in a display for public viewing. I am in love with some of the floral design styles which you can see from the pictures. Whether you are an avid gardener, a professional floral designer, or simply someone who appreciates the beauty of flowers, this floral exhibition is sure to inspire and delight.

Affordable Yakitori for Everyone
My go to whenever I want to get a quick, fuss-free and yummy takeaway meal is always at Tori-Q. The standard is consistent among the many outlets so I know what I’m getting is going to be delicious. It is always a filling meal as they are very generous with the rice portion that sprinkled with lots of seaweed. You can order a set which comes with a preselected skewers or choose your own which is what I did. My favourite is the chicken with green peppers! The peppers are always perfectly charred. As it is a takeaway only store, many people will sit by the fountain in Takashimaya and have their meal which is a fantastic option.

Crispy and Juicy Katsu at Takashimaya
Kimukatsu is a restaurant specializing in multi layer pork katsu dishes and it located convieniently in Takashimaya’s basement. It is my to go whenever I am in the area as the katsu is always fresh and juicy even though fried. The staff are always friendly and attentive. The portions are huge so it is very value for money. Every set comes with a miso soup, sliced cabbage salad, rice and condiments. This time I ordered the yuzu kosho and salmon and it did not disappoint. The pork katsu with yuzu kosho was very fragrant and even more juicy. As for the salmon, it was a thick and generous portion. Definitely well worth the money.

Oprah Winfrey's Favourite Popcorn
Did you know Garrett popcorn is one of Oprah Winfrey's favourite things, and that is what made Garrett so popular today. Just few weeks back, another new outlet of Garrett popcorn has just opened at B1 Food Hall of takashimaya.
I was at their takashimaya branch, and one can see all their favourite popcorn flavours displayed. My favourite has got to be their Chicago mix, which is both their cheese and caramel popcorn mixed together. A nice combination of sweet and salty and crunchy. As it's Christmas season, Garrett has also introduced their dark chocolate cocoa caramel crisp, sounds so yummy!
I am pretty sure Garrett popcorn is not just Oprah's favourite but it is also my favourite.

Flipper’s At Takashimaya
#afternoontea
Address: 391A Orchard Rd, B1 - 56 Takashimaya Shopping Centre, Singapore 238873
Flipper’s which hailed from Japan had their first outlet in Singapore at Takashimaya Shopping Centre. They are famous for their fluffy Kiseki pancakes.
However, when I was there for afternoon tea, I decided to try their savoury pancakes instead and chose their Egg Benedict Soufflé Pancake instead. The soufflé pancakes were indeed delicious, soft and fluffy. Paired with the eggs, salmon, salad etc, it’s a very nice dessert/snack and also a very filling one as well.

Takashimaya lion statues
Outside Takashimaya/Ngee Ann City at Orchard road, there is a huge space in front of the main entrance. This entrance is guarded by 2 lion statues, similar to those you see in most Asian countries. These lion statues act like a guardian, bring peace and prosperity and many other symbolic references, depending on who are the owners. You will always see a minimum of 2 lion statues, 1 male and 1 female. The male lion statue will be holding a ball and the female lion statue will be holding her cub.

Festive atmosphere at Takashimaya
Takashimaya Shopping Centre is one of the best mall on the Orchard belt.
Conveniently located between Orchard and Somerset MRT, this mall is very accessible by MRT and many buses go here as well.
What I love about this mall is they have everything you need. Basement 1 and 2 are food and Kitchen ware. Sometimes, the mall has Japan fair and there are some air-flown food and snack to buy too.

Ngee Ann City rumours
#meetsingapore
There is a saying about the building design of Ngee Ann City which is designed to be like a tombstone. In actual fact, this area was formerly a cemetery. The lion statues are there to wrad off any unwanted guests. The taller towers are said to resemble like a pair of candles and the flags resemble incense joss sticks. The beautiful water fountain resembles as a wine offering. As bizarre as it sounds, this building has been around since 1980s. You will have to get out of Ngee Ann City and stand outside to get a clearer view of this tombstone design. Let your foreign friends know about this fact and they can discover more about it themselves.
Ngee Ann City Luxury Shopping
#meetsingapore
Besides Marina Bay Sands, we also can shop for luxury items in Orchard road. There are many branded boutiques along Orchard road. Majority of them are located inside shopping centres. It is different from the stand-alone luxury boutiques I have shown you in my Korean trip moments. Although there is one luxury boutique island at MBS. You can come over to Ngee Ann City and there are many different luxury brands in the same building. It also make the shopping easier so you do not need to go and hunt for them. A queue system is needed and it is by physical queue. This is to facilitate crowd control measures.
Halloween Snacks
Those who enjoy baking and cooking may find the Halloween classes at their local ABC cooking studios pretty interesting.
The special Halloween menus are fun and refreshing.
Non-members can consider a trial class at SGD35, or reach out to members to get the discounted rate at SGD28.
Alternatively, non-members can also sign up for a one-day class at any of the ABC studios. The studios are located at Ngee Ann City, Funan, Westgate and the latest one is opening at Jewel Changi.
Don’t forget to take pictures at all of their Halloween setups in the cooking studio before leaving!

Pazzion Cafe!
We frequented the outlet in Jewel a number of times before it was closed for renovation. We tried their outlet in Takashimaya Shopping Centre. Restaurant was bright and big. There is ample seating area for diners. We had the braised beef, curry baramundi and the mixed berries waffles. Food was ok, but the waffles was amazing. The drink and smoothies was delicious too!
Address - Takashimaya Shopping Centre, 391 Orchard Rd, #b1-39/40, Singapore 238872
Ambience - Brigghtly lit with ample seating seating area

for hotpot lovers
Address - 391 Orchard Rd #05-13/14 Ngee Ann City
Ambiance/Facilities -
Highlights - fresh seafood, tasty soupbase
Avg. Price per Person - 50+ (hotpot)
Rating -
We arrived at 6pm at Empire Hotspot to find it empty. Decided to still give it a try as rating on google is pretty high. Ordered 2 soupbase - fish maw + shark cartilage and japanese rice wine clam soup. Both were great! The former taste like your usual collagen soup but less thick.
We then decided to splurge and went for fresh fish. Got the grouper for 2pax and it was really fresh! My only issue was i kept getting little fish bones on my fish whereas my partner got none.
2 hours after eating, we still didnt feel thirsty! Guess there is minimal MSG.
Would highly recommend this place for hotpot lovers! Plus point is that there is no queue. Service was also good - the staff were all very attentive.

Beautiful Water Fountain

Ngee Ann City water fountain
Address: 391 Orchard Rd, Singapore 238872
Ngee Ann City shopping centre was opened back in 1993. At that time, I was old enough and always visited Takashimaya inside Ngee Ann City. This water fountain is located in the basement and it is still there now at Ngee Ann City. It is also a popular resting point and meeting point for shoppers. If you look inside the water fountain, you can see many coins on the ground. Many people use this water fountain as a wishing well too. If you go up to the ground level, there is another water fountain right in front of Ngee Ann City too. Next time, I will tell you more about Ngee Ann City, which is shaped like a tombstone and was a cemetery in the past.
Use underpass to save time
#mustdo
Takashimaya underpass
Address: 391 Orchard Rd, Singapore 238872
A preferred choice to use along busy Orchard road to avoid the busy traffic. But if you are using a stroller then it is better not to use this underpass. Another good point to use this underpass is to avoid the sun and the rain especially when you don’t have an umbrella. This underpass is also open 24 hours but the doors to enter Takashimaya and Lucky Plaza will be closed during certain times. Then it is ok because there are other doors to the ground level too. Yes, this underpass connects both Takashimaya and Lucky Plaza shopping centres directly.

Floral Cafe in the heart of Orchard
#musteat
Recently opened by the same founders of bread society and Greyhound cafe, this Instagrammable cafe at Takashimaya is a place to check out with your girl friends!
The pretty cafe is decorated with floral decor everywhere hung from ceilings, and around the seating area. Accompanying the floral blooms are a combination of baby pastel pink couches, as well as other aesthetic furniture.
They have an extensive menu which includes Japanese and other European food options - ranging from rosti with bacon and eggs to lobster rolls. Check out their drinks selection as well with Korean dalgona coffee which was all the craze recently!

Enjoy the French gastronomic heritage at PAUL Takashimaya Singapore. Fresh bread and baked daily, delicious pastry and sandwich for lunch or afternoon tea. Not to forget, I love the cafe latte.
I enjoyed Smoked Salmon Tartine, Croque Madame and also spicy pasta. For afternoon tea, I prefer to pick a coffee set with assorted Macaron.
The cafe always pack and need to wait to get the seat, especially during lunch hour and weekend. It is also the place for meeting during office hour, and also a local socialite and fashionista place, so please wear appropriate clothes.

Nature park in town
Address - Takashimaya Shopping Centre, 391 Orchard Road, Singapore 238872
Right outside Takashimaya Shopping Centre is a nice stretch of quiet greenery where you can take a relaxing stroll! It is surprisingly serene because it’s on the back side of the row of shopping centres so there is less human traffic and crowds.
You won’t need to worry about shelter if it suddenly rains because it is in such close proximity to the shopping centres. Do remember to bring mosquito repellent as a prevention!
My overall rating of the experience: 4 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
