下牢溪是西陵峡的一个支流，景色非常秀丽，有点像长江三峡的小三峡，有游船可以畅游于此，他是《山楂树之恋》的拍摄地—乘坐【西陵画舫】游船（游览约1小时），览长江唯一原汁原味的【西陵峡】自然风光，享受壮阔在胸的博大意境。观中国第一座动力心脏—葛洲坝全景，欣赏野人坨、仙人谷等

下牢溪是长江西陵峡段在靠近宜昌方向的一个小支流，下牢溪因为是支流所以不是很长，水流虽然与长江西陵峡相连，但宽度要小很多，并且水质要清沏一些，呈现碧绿的颜色。
