Lingyan Temple

＂ Lingyan Temple ＂ is located in the center of Huxin Island in Yungang Grottoes Scenic Area, Datong City. It was imitated in 2009 according to the description of the famous geographer Yuan Daoyuan in "Water Sutra" in Beiwei. After entering the gate of Yungang Grottoes Scenic Area, walk through the square and cross the simple and elegant Qikong Bridge, which is the mountain gate of Lingyan Temple. The temple is a three-way courtyard, of which the main Buddha in the mountain gate is three-zun, the middle is the Maitreya Bodhisattva, the two sides are the protection, the main Buddha in the middle is seven, the middle is the Sakyamuni Buddha, and there are lamp Buddhas, Duobao Buddhas, Guanshiyin, and the general trend to Bodhisattvas. The main Buddha in the back hall is the past, present and future three Buddhas. ＂ Lingyan Temple ＂ was built in accordance with the architectural style of the Northern Wei period, and the most traditional one-double three-liter arch man character arches can be used.

Lingyan Temple is also called "Shantang Water Palace", Lingyan Temple is built on the island of the lake like turtle back, according to the ancient Chinese architectural style, with the central axis divided into two, left and right symmetry, retaining the architectural style of the Northern Wei period, of which the most traditional one-double three-liter arch man character arch can be used.

Don't miss the Lingyan Temple next to Yungang Grottoes. In the early days of the construction of Yungang Grottoes, there was a wooden structure in front of each Grottoe to serve the Buddha statue in the Grottoe, known as the "Ten Temples". The Lingyan Temple was built in front of the 3 Grottoes today. Geographer Yuan Daoyuan of Northern Wei Dynasty described the state of affairs at the time in "Water Sutra": Shantang Water Palace, Yan Temple, Lin Yuan Jinjing, and the new temple. Unfortunately, the temple at that time had long been destroyed and annihilated in the long history. The reflections in the water of Qinghui Lake outline a beautiful picture of tranquility and distance. Look at the floating tower in the center of the monastery, four or five floors, built according to the shape of the Buddha tower in the grotto. The stone carvings are all carved on each side, with 15 Buddhas and many Buddha statues, carved in detail and vivid.

The history of this temple is relatively long, but there are not many things that have been retained. Now all I see are basically rebuilt. From the appearance, it basically retains the appearance of the time, and the route that must be taken to the grottoes, by the way.

The building not far from the entrance of the grotto scenic spot is not a thousand-year-old building but it is extremely beautiful.
