The Tenement House

We came here on a spontaneous visit one Sunday afternoon in January and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Our wee boy loved seeing the “old fashioned house” and was so well looked after by all the staff, from the cash register to the flat and back out again.We went round twice (with a shift change between visits!) and the insight into one story of no doubt thousands like it in Glasgow was fantastic. Plus our boy thoroughly enjoyed colouring in his wallie dug. A hidden gem that is well worth the wander through Garnethill.

You can visit low-rent houses if you want to feel nostalgic and don't want to go too far. It reflects the life of Glasgow's middle class from the late 19th century to the early 20th century. The owner and his family have lived here for more than 50 years. The room is full of characteristic beds and kitchen design and furniture at that time. This place is really interesting. Households at that time would not have managed their houses as well as the Scottish National Trust. However, although the underground floor has added exhibition rooms, it is still often crowded.

The translation of low-rent housing is a bit strange. It reflects the realism of British life in the past. Don't assume that every Englishman is a royal.
