Five Goats Statue is situated in Yuexiu Park. It is the sign of Guangzhou and the origin of the name "Yangcheng". Five Goats Statue comes from a wonderful legend. It was built in 1959 by famous sculptors Yin Jichang, Chen Benzong, and Kong Fanwei. The stone sculpture is 11 meters high, weighs 53 tons, and is carved from more than 130 pieces of granite. The Five Goats Stone Sculpture symbolizes a good harvest and a peaceful and prosperous country. Its creation was inspired by an ancient legend in Guangzhou - the Five Goats brought blessings, wishing Guangzhou never to have famine.
