Several days before departure, I began repeatedly packing my — traveler post in Chamba

Several days before departure, I began repeatedly packing my suitcase, even leaving several scribbled notes by my pillow, just in case I forgot any small personal items. Finally, as I boarded the flight to my destination, gazing through the window at the layered sea of clouds, my excitement soared upwards with the wings. During check-in, the receptionist handed me a room key with a subtle fragrance. The moment I opened the door, I felt completely relaxed. Beside the soft bed was a small bottle of local fragrance, and drawing back the curtains revealed a soothing view. Even the water temperature from the bathroom faucet was just right, gently catching up with the fatigue of my long day. In the days that followed, I didn't have to rush to check the clock on my phone every morning. I would leisurely finish the hot breakfast prepared by the hotel and then wander out according to my mood. Sometimes I would stroll along the stone-paved paths, stopping at stalls selling snacks to take a bite. The sweet and fragrant taste would spread in my mouth, and even the wind blowing across my cheeks would feel soft and warm. Sometimes I would chat with strangers I met on the road, listening to them tell a few local stories. Before I knew it, I had wandered into a hidden gem of scenery. There was no rush of a schedule, no pressure to take photos, and even sitting by the roadside for half an hour in a daze felt like pure joy. Returning to the hotel in the evening, the staff remembered my favorite hot drink and brought it to me at the perfect temperature. Leaning back on the terrace chair, watching the sky gradually darken and the distant lights slowly transform into a gentle sea of stars, I thought back to every corner I'd wandered through these past few days, the unexpected surprises, the sound of the wind rustling through the leaves, the lingering aroma of food, and every relaxing little detail in the hotel—all these became the softest memories in my heart. I realized that the happiest trips aren't about rushing to many places, but about being able to completely let go of all worries in unfamiliar surroundings, immersing myself in relaxed and fulfilling joy every single moment. Even as it was time to leave, my heart was filled with reluctance, and my suitcase was packed with souvenirs collected during this trip, each one a reminder of those sparkling, happy moments. #NewYearDestinations2026

Key-Card Elevator: No Strangers on Your Floor — traveler post in Chamba

Key-Card Elevator: No Strangers on Your Floor

One of the first things I noticed about Mount View Hotel was the elevator security. You cannot press a floor button without first tapping your room key card against the sensor. This means only registered guests can access the accommodation floors. No one can follow you upstairs; no one can wander the corridors looking for an open door. For a woman traveling alone, this single feature is worth more than any security guard. I rode the elevator many times, at all hours, and never encountered anyone who didn't belong. The question “Can non-guests access the room floors?” is answered by the key-card sensor and the absolute peace of mind it provided.

High-Tech on a Low Budget: Smart Toilets, Wi‑Fi 6, and More — traveler post in Chamba

High-Tech on a Low Budget: Smart Toilets, Wi‑Fi 6, and More

Budget hotels usually mean technological compromise. Mount View Hotel flips that script. My room had a genuine smart toilet with a heated seat, warm-water wash, and warm-air dry—the kind of fixture I associate with Japanese business hotels at double the price. The Wi‑Fi was Wi‑Fi 6, covering the entire building, and my speed test showed 312 Mbps down, stable enough for video calls and large file transfers. The shower was thermostatic, locking at 38°C with no fluctuation. The room had USB‑A and USB‑C charging ports built into the wall. The smart TV allowed screen mirroring. I've stayed in midrange chain hotels that didn't offer this level of tech. The question “Does a budget hotel mean bad internet and basic bathrooms?” is answered by the Wi‑Fi 6 router and the heated toilet seat. This hotel invested in the infrastructure that matters.

Kids' Photography on the Sky Mirror — traveler post in Chamba

Kids' Photography on the Sky Mirror

The rooftop Sky Mirror at Mount View Hotel is famous for its reflection photos, and it is wonderfully child-friendly. The water is only ankle-deep, with a gently sloping entry, and my children waded safely while we photographed them. The reflection created magical doubles, and my son was delighted to see “another me!” in the water. The hotel staff are accustomed to families and will help take group photos. The question “Can children go on the Sky Mirror?” is answered by the laughing, splashing, perfectly reflected images we captured.

Snow clad mountains, cafe with beautiful views in Dalhousie

Ready to swap city chaos for small-town charm? Here’s my snowy adventure guide to Barrytown—think tranquil winter landscapes, crisp air, and a seriously underrated food stop you shouldn’t miss! ❄️🌞 Must-See Places in Barrytown: 1. Scenic Country Roads – Slow down and soak up the views! Rows of telephone poles against a stunning, sunlit stretch of snowy fields make for a road trip you’ll want to photograph. The nature here is epic—trees coated in ice, blue skies above—total winter wonderland vibes. 2. Dalhousie – Just a few minutes away, this cozy town is the surprise highlight. My top tip: hit up Mayfair Cafe. This spot is a real hidden gem—perfect breads and comfort food after a cold stroll. Don’t let the underrated status fool you, it’s seriously worth it! 🍞✨ How to Get Around: You’ll want a car—public transport options are limited, especially with snow on the ground. But driving here is half the fun (just check weather and road conditions first!). Food Recommendations: Mayfair Cafe in Dalhousie is the *must-try*—warm up with their fresh bread and local specialties. Other Tips: Layer up! Winters here mean icy roads and chilly walks but the sun makes the scenery really pop for those Insta shots. Cash is useful—card readers in small-town cafés can be iffy. #BarrytownAdventures #HiddenGems #WinterVibes #MayfairCafe

Travel the World Series: India - Durgana Temple, Amritsar

Durgiana Temple, located at Hathi Gate in the old city of Amritsar, is one of the most important Hindu holy sites in the heart of Amritsar. Also known as Lakshmi Narayan Temple or the Silver Temple, its architecture is modeled after the Golden Temple. The central shrine stands in a sacred lake, connected to the shore by a marble bridge. The temple is a 16th-century site, rebuilt in 1921 by Guru Harsai Mal Kapoor in the style of the Golden Temple. The foundation stone was laid by Madan Mohan Malviya in 1921. It is dedicated to Durgiana, but also to Lakshmi and Vishnu.
