Photos of Tōfuku-ji Temple

Tofuku-ji Temple is the largest Zen temple in Kyoto and the headquarter of the Tofuku-ji School of Rinzai. Years of war and the fire in 1881 burned down its Buddhist hall, Dharma hall, kitchen and housing, and then rebuilt it one by one. The Tongtian Bridge in the temple is a scenic spot for viewing red leaves, and the Woyun Bridge is a good place to shoot the red leaves landscape of Tongtian Bridge and Washing Jade Stream. There are 25 towers in the whole temple, and the existing ancient gates are very precious cultural relics. The national treasure abbot of Longyin Temple is a very old abbot building. The Abbot was built in 1235 and rebuilt in 1890. The abbot is surrounded by several gardens. The layout was designed in 1939 by Mr. Shigemori Sanling, a well-known gardening expert. He hopes to express the simple Zen way of the Kamakura period through the abstract architectural techniques of contemporary art.
