I had a great experience at Scenic Hotel. During check-in, the male staff member was extremely friendly and helpful. He gave me lots of useful information about the area, including the best places to eat, where to park, and tips for seeing the penguins. His local knowledge really helped make our trip easier and more enjoyable.
The next morning, after coming back late from travelling, I asked the reception if I could check out 15–20 minutes later. The staff member on morning reception was very cool, understanding, and friendly. She happily allowed the late checkout with no issues at all.
Overall, both staff members provided excellent service, and I really appreciated their kindness and helpful attitude. Highly recommend this hotel for both comfort and outstanding customer service!
Unfortunately, my stay was not very comfortable. The soundproofing is very poor, and there is a nightclub nearby that plays very loud music late into the night, making it difficult to sleep. For those who drive, can park on the roadside across the street for free after 6pm. In addition, the shower water pressure was very low, which was disappointing.
My mistake in not verifying the lodge location. It was listed as being in Milford Sound when it is not. Management need to adjust the door closers for kitchen n dining room. Was kept awake til 11pm with the banging. When I gave feedback to the staff, was told I had booked the basic standard room.
The location is a bit remote, the room is more spacious, the hotel decoration is old, the kitchen equipment is less, there is a microwave oven and a bread machine, sleep at night, the room door is glass, the shading is not good, the lights in the yard are particularly bright, which will affect sleep.
The lakeside cottage is very beautiful and the room is clean, but it has a retro feel and everything is old. There is also a small drawback that you can't cook. But the restaurant next to it is delicious and worth a visit! The key point is that the room has a bathtub
Really enjoyed our stay here. The staff were lovely, right from reception, housekeeping to porters. As we had been travelling for a couple of weeks, having a laundry in the hotel was a lovely bonus. There were food places of all varieties within walking distance as well. Definitely recommend staying here
This is the most luxurious hotel I've ever stayed in on a trip, though I guess I haven't really stayed in many fancy places, haha. The front desk staff were enthusiastic and gave excellent tips. The bellboy delivered our luggage right to the door, which was a nice touch. You have to take a boat to get to town; it costs $10 per trip with a card, which is a bit pricey, but it was a unique way to travel. Because it's a bit far from the town center, it's very quiet at night with minimal light pollution. You can step outside and see the stars, and the pool is great. The room itself was fantastic, though the lighting was a little dim. The bathroom was spacious.
Nice place with central location of the Oamaru town, near Woolworth supermarket, some nice old-fashion places and beach. Nice to visit and grab photos.
Hotel keeps original decoration you can feel warm with the fireplace and wooden furniture. But the room is clean with modern style.
It feels like a very old American hotel
There's nothing around. There's a very small gas station convenience store.
Reception is not friendly There are traces of hair and less cleaning in the bathroom
Just go to bed for a day.

GGuest UserView was more than spectacular..recommend booking a lake view room, was able to sleep with the window open and the view of the lake all day and night was breathtaking.. food in restaurant so/so, easy walk into town to find everything you need
XXiaowangon the wayI initially booked one night here because my travel plans weren't finalized. Once they were, I extended my stay for another three nights. The hotel is located in the heart of Queenstown, not far from attractions like the Skyline Gondola and the TSS Earnslaw steamship. There are also plenty of supermarkets and restaurants nearby, including the famous Fergburger, which is just over 100 meters away – very convenient. The front desk staff were warm and helpful, answering all my questions. The room was clean and tidy, and the capsule room was spacious with two charging outlets. There were numerous bathrooms and toilets in the common areas. It's great value for money, and the overall experience was excellent. Five-star rating!
이이진희We chose this hotel because we expected to enjoy its winery/food. Otherwise, we should have stayed in Queenstown with a lot of restaurants and pubs.
As we would arrive in the early evening, we put a note for our hope for experiencing their winery and food (or at least finger foods) when we booked the hotel, and received email that they cannot guarantee but will do their best to serve our need. Since then, no email was sent to us. When we arrived at the hotel around 6 pm, no one was in the information desk, so we had to go to the bistro to find out that they left the key in a safe box without any notice or sending us any email with its password. We had to wait a while for the bistro lady to make a phone call to whom it concerns, which was okay. Worse, we heard that their bistro was reserved for a group event so we could not use the facility at all. We had to drive 15 minutes to a nearby town and bought foods from a supermarket. I think the hotel should have notified us of impossibility of using their bistro/food service due to the group event and we have to prepare for our food. As I checked out, I left a note about the issues, and expected they would send me an email to express their sincere apology. Unfortunately nothing happened so far. Although I liked the room as well as the whole place very much, I think Kinross cottage needs professionalism to run their stay program. It could have been much nicer, memorable stay experience.
AAnonymous UserThe facilities were new and great, and the sleep was comfortable, but there are a few things that need improvement:
1️⃣ The water temperature at night wasn't good.
2️⃣ The Wi-Fi kept disconnecting and I couldn't even connect to it.
Parking costs 20 NZD per day.
::))We were thrilled to be the very first guests to leave a review for this stunning new resort! The location is fantastic, just a quick 10-minute drive to town, and our room offered breathtaking views of the Shot River, creating a truly relaxing atmosphere.
We arrived around 10 PM, and the hotel reception was impeccably prepared, warmly welcoming us and even upgrading our room! It looked exactly like the photos, with a design and interior that perfectly captured the vibe we were seeking. They had welcome drinks waiting for us, and we appreciated that milk was available on request at any time.
The breakfast was a delightful a la carte experience, featuring an array of delicious options. The serving staff was not only attentive and kind but also provided excellent recommendations for nearby restaurants!
We also indulged in room service, which exceeded our expectations in both taste and punctuality. Although the fitness room and movie room were still under construction, the small maintenance issue we encountered in the bathroom was addressed swiftly by the staff.
Our stay has left us eager to return and see the final results of this new gem. I highly recommend this resort to everyone!

AAnonymous UserThe front desk and staff were very polite. We arrived at the hotel at 12:30 PM after a layover from Auckland. Check-in time was 2 PM, but they gave us a room early. However, it was in the old building (I don't think it mentioned new/old rooms when booking), and the facilities were very dated. We later paid an extra NZD 40 to upgrade to a newly renovated room, which was instantly much more comfortable. The room wasn't huge, but the twin room was enough for a family of three. The hotel garden is beautiful, and from the balcony, you can see the lake and the lakeside promenade. The view is unbeatable, and the location is superb.
SSugah3artthe front desk staff was so nice & helpful , as well as the other hotel staff! only thing wanna say the entry to hotel basement parking is too small / narrow for a big car (we are hiring Mitsubishi outlander) so please be careful when cornering at the entrance!
overall, spacious room, comfortable bed and convenient location & check-out (just drop a key inside a box next to the roller gate if you driving!)
GGuest UserThe person at reception was an Indian wearing a turban. I'm not sure if it was discrimination against Chinese people, but they gave us a room in the furthest, most secluded corner. The signal was also very poor; streaming videos was constantly buffering. All the pillows were incredibly high, making it feel like you'd get a stiff neck from sleeping on them. It was a very bad experience. Plus, it seems the hotel doesn't have a shuttle bus to town, so getting around is very inconvenient if you don't have a car. It's a 40-minute walk to town, and it's uphill and downhill.
MMongabeeAfter getting off the long-distance flight, I emailed the hotel to check in and arrived a little late. The front desk was ready to welcome me early in the morning. The hotel is within ten minutes of the attractions and restaurants. The hotel staff is very polite. It was my daughter's birthday, and there was a small birthday cake as a surprise for my daughter. The hotel's little thoughtfulness has been felt by the guests. The only imperfection is that at about 7 o'clock in the morning, there should be a waiter to open the door, but we were still sleeping. I don't know the reason. I have informed the front desk of this matter and asked them to pay attention to this situation.
