The scent of Vietnamese coffee drifting through the thirty-six guild streets of Hanoi's Old Quarter, the emerald waters of Halong Bay dotted with limestone karst islands, the silk lanterns that illuminate Hoi An's ancient town at dusk, the French colonial facades and the rivers of motorbikes in Ho Chi Minh City — Vietnam, this slender S-shaped country, greets every traveler with an intense rush of the senses. Short flight times, affordable prices, and a rich and diverse food culture keep Vietnam among the most popular travel destinations in Asia year after year.
But before you pack your bags, the first thing to sort out is your entry authorization.
Does my passport need a visa for Vietnam?
Vietnam offers visa-free entry to passport holders from select countries, but the visa-free stay ranges from 15 to 30 days. If your trip exceeds the visa-free limit, or if you'd prefer a single-entry or multiple-entry visa, the Vietnam e-Visa is the most convenient option. The entire process is handled online — no need to visit a consulate in person — and once approved, you can enter through any of 53 designated ports.
This guide covers everything you need to know about the 2026 latest Vietnam e-Visa application, from eligibility and required documents to the application process and entry requirements — all in one place!
The Vietnam e-Visa is an official electronic visa issued by the Vietnam Immigration Department, designed for short-term entry for tourism purposes. Unlike a traditional sticker visa, the e-Visa is processed entirely online — no need to submit your original passport at a consulate. Once approved, you simply download the e-Visa page and present it upon arrival.

Visa-Free Entry Regions
Passport holders from certain countries and regions enjoy visa-free entry to Vietnam, but with limited stay durations:

If your trip falls within the visa-free period, you can enter directly. However, if you plan to stay longer or prefer a multiple-entry visa, applying for an e-Visa is recommended.
Note: We are currently unable to accept e-Visa applications from citizens of the following countries: Nigeria, Cameroon, Congo, Turkey, Mozambique, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Iran, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Syria, Senegal, Mali, Guinea, Libya, Liberia, Iraq, Yemen. If your passport is from one of these countries, please consult our visa specialists to explore other viable visa options.
The required documents for the Vietnam e-Visa are relatively straightforward, but each item must meet the specified requirements — otherwise, processing may be delayed:
1. Scanned copy of passport information page
- Must be clear and legible, with no glare or obstruction
- Passport validity must cover your entire intended stay
2. One white-background color photo (40×60mm)
- Must be taken within the last 6 months
- White background
- No glasses or other accessories permitted
- This is the most common reminder we give our clients! Non-compliant photo specifications are the leading cause of applications being returned
3. Completed visa application form
- A visa specialist will assist with filling out the form; please provide accurate personal information
Additionally, upon arrival you will need to bring 2 extra white-background color photos (40×60mm) for the visa conversion procedure — we recommend packing a few spares before departure.
Application Steps
- Complete online payment
- Submit required documents via email
- Visa specialist reviews and submits the application
- Receive the approved e-Visa and usage guidance — please verify all information is correct
Processing Timeline
| Service Type | Processing Time |
| Initial document review | Within 1 business day |
| Standard processing | Approx. 5–6 business days |
| Express processing | 1–2 business days |
| Rush processing | 1–8 hours |
Important reminders:
- The submission day is not included in the processing time
- Express and rush services are only available on business days (excluding weekends and Vietnamese public holidays)
- Express and rush processing results are subject to individual case review and are not available for all applicants; if your case involves specific national backgrounds or previous entry/exit records, please consult a visa specialist first
- Processing times may be affected by system maintenance, force majeure events, or public holidays
We recommend submitting a standard application at least 10 days before departure. If time is tight, express or rush processing is available.
The Vietnam Immigration Department has designated 53 entry ports (including air, land, and sea crossings) that accept the e-Visa. Below are the major international airports:
Major International Airports:
- Noi Bai International Airport (HAN) — Hanoi
- Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN) — Ho Chi Minh City
- Da Nang International Airport (DAD) — Da Nang
- Cam Ranh International Airport (CXR) — Nha Trang
- Phu Quoc International Airport (PQC) — Phu Quoc
Additionally, there are land border crossings and seaports, bringing the total to 53 designated ports. Before departure, we recommend double-checking that your intended entry port is on the designated list.
Arrival Visa Conversion Procedure (Important!)
Upon arrival at a designated port, you will need to complete the visa conversion procedure at the immigration counter:
- Present your printed e-Visa
- Submit 2 white-background color photos (40×60mm)
- Complete immigration inspection
Note: The e-Visa's effective date is the earliest date you may enter Vietnam — entry is not permitted before this date. Applicants must apply from outside Vietnam; applications cannot be processed from within the country.
If you'd like to further reduce waiting time upon arrival in Vietnam, we offer a VIP Fast Track Service at the following four airports:
- Noi Bai International Airport (HAN) — Hanoi
- Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN) — Ho Chi Minh City
- Da Nang International Airport (DAD) — Da Nang
- Cam Ranh International Airport (CXR) — Nha Trang
Service Includes:
- Airport meet-and-greet with name sign
- Assistance with immigration procedures
- VIP fast track lane service
- English-speaking service staff / Chinese-language pickup sign available
Service Hours: 07:00–21:00 (Vietnam local time). Outside service hours, arrangements can be made with an additional fee.
Eligibility:
- Travelers with a valid Vietnam e-Visa: pickup + form assistance + visa collection guidance + fast track
- Travelers with a Visa on Arrival: pickup + fast track
Usage Guidelines:
- Fast Track only shortens waiting time and does not guarantee entry approval — the final entry decision rests with immigration officers
- If a traveler is directed to manual inspection by an immigration officer, our staff cannot enter that line to assist; the traveler must complete the inspection independently. A refund request may be submitted in such cases
- No-show or cancellation without prior notice: 100% service fee charged
- An additional surcharge applies for entry via Ho Chi Minh City port; please consult a visa specialist for details
- Children under 14 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian with supporting documents
- During peak seasons or high-traffic periods, brief waiting may still occur, but overall efficiency is superior to standard lanes. For even higher priority access, consult our specialists about upgrade options
To book the VIP Fast Track Service, we recommend reserving in advance and providing accurate flight details as soon as your visa is approved, so airport arrangements can be made.
1. Verify All Information Upon Receiving Your Visa
After receiving your e-Visa, please carefully check the following:
- Passport number
- Full name (spelling)
- Gender
- Date of birth
- Visa validity dates
- Visa type (single-entry / multiple-entry)
If any issue is found, please contact us within 24 hours. Reports received after 24 hours may not be covered, and visa corrections or urgent reprocessing may incur additional fees (borne by the applicant). Final correction approval is determined by the consulate.
Only after confirming all information is correct should you book non-refundable flights, hotels, or other arrangements.
2. Common Hold Reasons & Solutions
The following situations may cause application processing delays:
- Frequent entries to and exits from Vietnam
- Switching from a DN1 Business Visa to an e-Visa
- Delayed exit record updates from land borders
- Low-quality passport scans or photos
Recommendations:
- Applicants with multiple-entry history or visa type changes are advised to use priority processing
- Ensure all submitted documents are clear and complete to avoid delays caused by document issues
3. E-Visa Does Not Guarantee Entry
Obtaining an e-Visa does not guarantee entry into Vietnam. Upon arrival, border officials may ask you to present your passport and other relevant documents. The entry decision rests with immigration officers.
4. Do Not Book Flights or Hotels Before Visa Approval
Please do not pay for air tickets, hotels, or other expenses before your visa is officially issued. Any losses incurred as a result will be borne by the applicant.
5. Customer Support & Refund Policy
| Item | Details |

- VIP Fast Track no-show or unnotified cancellation: 100% fee charged
Q1: Which passport holders can apply for the Vietnam e-Visa?
The Vietnam e-Visa is available to passport holders from most countries worldwide (certain restricted countries excepted). Additionally, some nationalities enjoy visa-free entry to Vietnam — such as South Korea, Japan, Singapore, and Thailand — with stays ranging from 15 to 30 days. If your planned stay exceeds the visa-free period, or if you prefer a multiple-entry visa, applying for an e-Visa is recommended.
Q2: Can I get a refund if my Vietnam e-Visa application is refused?
No. All fees that have been paid and submitted — including the visa fee and related service fees — are non-refundable, even if the application is refused. The decision to issue or refuse the visa depends on the applicant's personal information and the judgment of the visa officer.
Q3: Can the Vietnam e-Visa be extended? What if I want to stay longer than the permitted duration?
The Vietnam e-Visa itself cannot be extended locally. If you plan to stay beyond the visa's validity period (typically 30 to 90 days, subject to consular approval), you will need to exit and reapply, or consider a different visa category. Please note that overstaying may result in fines and restrictions on future entry.
From a steaming bowl of pho in Hanoi to a boat drifting on Halong Bay, from a single lantern in Hoi An to a cup of slow-drip coffee in Ho Chi Minh City — the beauty of Vietnam deserves to be experienced without worry.
Don't let complicated visa procedures dampen your travel excitement. Leave the e-Visa process to the professionals — focus on planning your trip, and we'll handle the rest.
