I have been here before. Good things: convenient location to central train station and shops. Nice and relaxing swimming pool with jacuzzi and steam room. Rooms are OK but clean with coffee and tea and ironing facilitie. Staff generally friendly and helpful. Good breakfast. Bad things: dinner is limited options, expensive and not good value for money. To add an insult to the injury I had a dessert and there was 1/2 strawberry 🍓 on the top for decoration. I left to last bite to finish with and the taste was terrible. It had onions taste 🤧 my guess they used the same knife for cutting the onions for cutting the strawberry and it was not nice at all - just disgusting and unprofessional. Apart from this everything was good and I would be back but unlikely I would like to here again.

Brilliant location for the Arena, town and train station. Receptionists were really helpful and kind and let me check in early. Breakfast was fine. Would definitely stay again.

The staff was super kind and helpful! They helped us check-in early and ALSO check-out later with no issue whatsoever! We also had an issue with the electricity in our room and, after explaining them the situation, they very promptly gave us another room so we could get ready for our event! Not only, in the end there was no need for another room because they rapidly fixed the issue! Would 100% recommend! The location was also great for both short Uber trips and short walking based on what you prefer/need!

Although I stayed for one night, the overall experience was good. The environment was quiet, the front desk service was very friendly and kind, the parking and transportation were very convenient, and the breakfast in the morning was very rich and delicious. Next time I go to Newcastle, I will choose this hotel

Extremely busy hotel with coach loads of people arriving. These tend to be mini breaks for the elderly. Waiting to get served or order food at the bar on an evening is terrible due to the unmanageable influx of people. Sat and eat my evening meal on a sofa as that was all that was available due to people sat at tables that weren’t even dining (these people were waiting to be called into a function room to eat their meal as a collective). Parking is expensive, both in the council run car park and indeed the hotels one. This hotel is on the quayside but to be clear…….. the opposite side of the river to the busy quay. With this in mind I can’t quite understand the expensive parking and expensive food and drink prices. The hotel rooms are really clean, very modern and extremely comfortable. The hotel itself is amazing, my only criticism was the hotel was seriously under staffed and bar food and drinks expensive for what they were.

Really affordable hotel at the heart of Sunderland. Also walkable to the main street of Sunderland. Only dishearterning experience was when some toiletries were missing because they went ”out of stock”. Otherwise, we really enjoyed our time there.

Good value hotel in a very convenient location only a short walk from the Newcastle Central train station. The gentleman on the front desk was very polite and allowed me to store my bag for a few hours before my rooms was available. The room was clean and bed was comfy and most importantly there was little to no outside noise despite my room backing out towards a road and train track. The bathrooms are little dated but are fully functional and toiletries were included. I booked a deal inclusive of breakfast and the breakfast was very nice, plenty of hot options such as sausages, bacon and beans etc plus the usual contenital options.

Good hotel; great price and room was as described. Did not partake in the breakfast as for the price we preferred to bring our own. Easy check-in and check out with friendly service. Carpark was more than large enough. Bathroom included wall-mounted bodywash and soap, as well as small bottles. Excellent value for money; would stay again.

We came to Newcastle for our kid’s graduation and The hotel is very conveniently located. We booked 2 room on the 3rd floor street wise. The double room ie very quiet and spacious enough:. We got confused with the cleaning service as sometimes the mugs had not been cleaned and replaced by two new. One day I requested the room to be cleaned in the morning but by the time we came bac at 3:00 pm the room was just about to be cleaned, which was inconvenient for us. It would be great if the room was equipped with black out curtains as we got early morning light that woke us up. However , all in all a positive experience with friendly reception staff

GGuest UserWe checked in and checked straight back out again after going into the room. The room was tiny definitely not suitable for more than 1 person. The ”double” bed was pushed right up against a wall and wasn't much bigger than a single bed. Room was dusty all over. The bathroom was bigger than the actual room although you couldn't actually sit on the toilet properly as the sink cabinet was right next to the toilet. The room stank of food as I'm guessing was above the kitchen as the big fans were next to the window. Couldn't open the window as the smell of food was then even worse so the room stank like burger grease. Room was really hot as the radiator was turned on however couldn't turn it off and opening the window wasn't an option either. Reception area is really nicely presented but definitely not a reflection on the rooms which are poor to say the least. Ended up booking into a second hotel round the corner which is amazing complete opposite end of the scale in comparison to the first. Unfortunately meant we've ended up paying for 2 hotels just for 1 night but lesson learnt.

FFranfromivegillCannot best the location!!!! Trolley push out of the doors and into the hotel ( or vice versa). No worry about taxi or transfer. Restaurant OK but suffers from the same ailment of so many…. Blinking awful coffee!!!! Also those awful mugs …. I have said before….. I have taken to bringing my own decent mug to drink out of. I ate in the bar last time - similar menu ( same prices) but no booking of a table required. Just got to put up with TV with constant noise or sport…… They let me leave my luggage while I drop off or pick up a hire car…. About 10 minutes walk away. Always my first choice.

GGuest UserGreat location though a bit of noise audible from the bars around at night.  This did seem to ease off after midnight however.  Room itself nice and clean, bathroom very nice.  The breakfast is just ok but can’t complain if included at the price.  Overall would recommend.

GGuest UserStayed in this hotel for a one night business trip stay over. If you’re looking for something with a little character this is a great place to stay . Central Newcastle , right next to the central train station and Metro entrance, a little bit of elegance. A lovely entrance foyer ( decorated with an amazing Christmas tree) with large chandeliers and helpful staff at check in. Finding my room was a bit of an adventure , but part of the charm of a historic building . My room was clean , quiet , mini fridge , kettle and tea/coffee , tv , surprisingly good bathroom and comfortable bed. I had a good English breakfast in the morning , and again the staff were lovely. I thought it was very good value , and I would stay again .

MMichelle ElliottStayed one night - bank holiday Sunday in a Club double room with full English buffet breakfast and a drinks voucher each included. We stayed in room 511 which seemed slightly more spacious than other rooms of this type however only had a partial river view due to being at the end of the corridor. On booking we had requested to have additional pillows for the bed and this was done for our arrival. A very good overnight stay in a hotel located within easy walking distance of bars and restaurants on the quayside. Will be a returning guest .
