A very nice stay in the city of Kumamon! Staffs are friendly, the room is big, amenities are well prepared. Had a three-night stay in the same hotel and enjoyed the convenience of it as it’s right next to the JR Kumamoto station with bus stops nearby and connected to the AMU plaza.
The room is large and the price is reasonable. It is located just outside Shinshi Street, so you can go shopping, which is very convenient. There are also many famous restaurants nearby, such as Kurotei Ramen and Katretei Tonkatsu, which are only a few minutes' walk away. I will consider staying here again next time I go to Kumamoto.

The hot spring has indoor and outdoor and steaming rooms. You can also use qr code to check the flow of people. You can choose when there are fewer people.
Breakfast is basically the same every day.
The weather was very nice and the sunset was beautiful.
It was Golden Week and the price was 58,000 yen for two people.
I was looking forward to the food, but they didn't even serve spiny lobster.
For about 20,000 yen per person per night, I would be happy with the dinner.
I made the reservation about a month in advance, and it was a room facing the mountain.
When I made the reservation, I wasn't able to specify the type of food or the room.
I had a vague idea of the price, 58,000 yen for two people with two meals.
The service and the hotel's attitude were good, so the dinner was very disappointing.
The room is clean , the lobby got many toys for kids to play. Wide variety of food for both breakfast and dinner. And they even have a ramen for each person for free from 9:30-10:30pm every night! Don’t miss out!
Kumamoto is currently in a situation where the taxi driver is insufficient and the reservation cannot be made, but the staff responded to the kindness and managed to make no hole in the work. Thank you very much.
The hotel is very grand. I chose a random room and was assigned a large room. When I arrived at the hotel, I learned that the room rate included a room and two meals. There was also the Jixiang Hot Spring (five outdoor pools) 1 kilometer away. I had to soak in it before dinner. One, the staff told me that the meal time was 7:30, and it was nearly 8:00 when I entered. It turned out that the buffet dinner was only at 9:00, so I was in a hurry. The hot spring in the hotel is also very good. The small wooden bridge and the stream near the hotel are good places to take pictures.
It's a simple hotel that seems to cater to business people mostly. There's a parking lot, which is very convenient.
For the first time in all the time I've lived in Japan, I asked for residence card, which I thought was odd.
Very traditional ryokan. You have to take off your shoes when you enter the door. There is a Chinese waiter at the front desk of the hotel. But obviously he is a newcomer, and he is not very familiar with some management matters of the hotel and the surrounding attractions. The order is one parking and two food, the ingredients are very fresh, the variety is rich and creative, and the taste is good. Early and evening meals are served in separate private rooms. The hotel proprietress will personally visit each private room to worship visitors and collect their comments on the hotel. The hotel itself is good, the balcony of the room booked has a private bath, facing the river. It's just that the private soup is very ordinary, and the scenery is also average. Yamaga is really a small place, there are no shops and no attractions. There is only one Yachiyo and Lantern Museum. There is nothing to shop around. If it's just a clean picture, it's barely acceptable. More than 3,000 a night is not cost-effective.
The room is very big and faces Mount Aso. We booked a package with breakfast and dinner for just over 1,000. This price is very cost-effective during the 5.1 holiday. Many Japanese people also come here for vacation. There are three hot springs to soak in. In short, it was a very good stay experience.

HHON MINGExcellent location in the city centre, a few minutes from shopping, convenience stores, and the Sakuramachi Main bus terminal. Though it is no frills 3-star limited service hotel, location is the best and the price is reasonable. No cleaning in my room plan but acceptable. Will stay again.
AAnonymous UserGood location with shopping arcade right next to it! Lots of good shops like Mister Donut, Gindaco. Walking distance to most attractions like Kumamoto Castle and famous ramen. Great variety of self-pick up amenities (toothbrush, cleanser, body sponge, comb, tea, coffee etc.) and special request amenities like hair curler, latex pillow, power bank, shoe dryer and many more! Easy digital self-check-in with staff assistance. Good breakfast variety and clean environment. Luggage storage with front desk is also easy! Parking guidance brochure available. Free cheese grain snack upon check-in. Highly recommend for anyone to stay here!
WWILONLocation of this hotel is good with close distance to nearby shopping malls and Kumamoto Castle.
General cleanliness of the room is good except that the air filter of the inner ventilation system needs “deep” cleaning.
Services of staff are good and I highly recommend for all of you looking for a value-for-money hotel in Kumamoto city centre.
TTannkerHotel is newly renovated. Give a new and upscale look. Location is well located at the bus and train terminal. A big mall with lots of restaurants and shops to dine and shop. Room is small but is good and comfy.
LLau LilA very nice stay in the city of Kumamon! Staffs are friendly, the room is big, amenities are well prepared. Had a three-night stay in the same hotel and enjoyed the convenience of it as it’s right next to the JR Kumamoto station with bus stops nearby and connected to the AMU plaza.
KkeikitesLocation was good, it is very near a shopping district filled with restaurants. Room was clean.
Hotel room was clean and I like that they even offer instant soup (free for hotel guests) beside the reception.
Minus some points on service as a receptionist gave my mum attitude when asked on how to operate the laundry machine.
TTraveller CI stayed at this hotel twice. The second time (this booking) we had a room on the older (?) wing and it was almost twice the size of the first one. So for this review I will only share feedback on this “older” room.
This room was big and thus good for us as we had 2 large luggage and more space in the room allowed us to open and pack our luggages with ease.
The bathroom was large with the large traditional bathtub. Toilet had bidet and etc but lacked heating which made it very cold in the winter. Basin tap was still the old turn types which was not eco friendly as it’s more difficult to shut it off.
Location was just opposite the train station which was excellent. But the nearest convenience store is also only at the train station which is about a 5-7mins walk away.
Breakfast was curated to suit the Japanese palette more and ends at 9a.m which is really way too early!!
We left something behind in the hotel but they managed to send the item back to us at our new hotel (still in Japan) which was highly appreciated.
Despite a few minor shortcomings listed above, the pros still outweigh the cons and I’ll definitely be happy to stay here again.
AAaamayGreat location , easy access to public transportation, good shopping mall next door, nice staff, easy check-in and check out … only downside is that they didn’t have enough non-smoking room so I got stuck with a smoking room … not exactly ideal but made the most out of it …
BB_BClean, Convenient, and Family-Friendly Stay
I recently stayed at this hotel and had a very pleasant experience. If you're planning to drive, please note that the hotel does not have free parking spaces. However, there are nearby paid parking options just a short walk away, so it's still quite convenient. There’s also a convenience store located right across the street, which is a big plus.
Check-in and check-out are both quick and hassle-free, thanks to the hotel's automated machines. The cleanliness of the hotel is impeccable, and the room was spacious enough for my child to run around comfortably.
One feature I especially appreciated was the in-room washing machine along with a heated drying rack and rail in the bathroom—super handy when traveling with kids and needing to wash their clothes. Nightgowns are also provided, just like at another Fav Lux hotel I stayed at in Nagasaki.
The room is equipped with a full set of kitchen appliances, perfect for light cooking or preparing fruits and snacks.
TTraveljuThe room is clean , the lobby got many toys for kids to play. Wide variety of food for both breakfast and dinner. And they even have a ramen for each person for free from 9:30-10:30pm every night! Don’t miss out!
