Taipei MRT Map

Taipei MRT Map

If it’s your first time in Taiwan, let me assure you: the Taipei MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) is one of the most tourist-friendly transport systems I’ve ever used. It’s reliable, air-conditioned (a must!), and signs are in English, Mandarin, and Pinyin, so there's no need to worry.

Why I loved it:

  • 🚆 Trains run every few minutes
  • 🧼 The stations are super clean
  • 💳 Easy to use with a stored-value card
  • 🗺️ The MRT map is colour-coded and easy to follow

Whether you're going shopping, sightseeing, or just chilling at a local café, the Taipei MRT Map is your golden key. 💛

Taipei MRT Operating Hours

Taipei MRT station

The Taipei MRT runs daily from around 6:00 am until midnight. Trains arrive every 2–5 minutes during peak hours and roughly every 7–10 minutes late at night.

⏱️ I’ve caught the last train from Ximen a few times after a late supper—no worries at all! Stations display the last train times for each platform, so you’ll never have to worry about getting stuck.

🟪 Taoyuan Airport MRT (桃園機場捷運)

Route: Taoyuan Airport – Taipei Main Station
Best for: Airport transfers – fast, smooth, and luggage-friendly

There are two train options to choose from:

The service was good and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Although the room was relatively small, it was clean and offered a nice view. The bathroom and toilet are separated, though the bath tub and toilet space are quite small. The location is very convenient, as it is only about a 5-minute walk to Longshan Temple. The hotel is also close to Mengxia Night Market, making it easy to explore local food and attractions. One minor inconvenience is that the lifts can be quite slow, as the hotel has two blocks with three lifts each, so waiting time can be longer during busy periods. Overall, it was a comfortable and convenient stay.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Perfect for Families — Comfortable & Convenient Our family had an amazing stay here. The room was spacious enough for all of us, with comfortable beds and thoughtful touches that made our stay relaxing. The hotel’s cleanliness was impressive, and housekeeping did an excellent job each day. Location was ideal — plenty of food choices, convenience stores, and MRT stations nearby. Moving around the city was very easy. What we appreciated most was the warm and friendly service. Staff greeted us sincerely every time and helped with directions, transport bookings, and recommendations. Breakfast was varied and delicious, with options suitable for both adults and kids. Overall, a fantastic choice for families looking for comfort and convenience.

This was my second stay at the Grand Hotel during my trip to Taipei. This hotel is conveniently located near both Ningxia Night Market and Shilin Night Market. Although Ningxia Night Market is considered small by Taipei locals, it's where I found the best street food in Taipei, and there's also the famous Douhua Zhuang for delicious shaved ice. Absolutely loved it!

I stayed at this hotel for two nights. Originally, I had two separate bookings, but the front desk staff kindly merged them for me, which saved me from having to switch rooms – a huge thank you for that! The room was spacious (picture 1), but the hotel facilities are a bit dated, and there weren't enough power outlets in the room. There's a laundry room, but only one washing machine. The hotel is located at Taipei Main Station, which I initially thought was a great spot, but because the station is so vast and connected to an underground mall, it's very easy to get lost. The hotel's top floor offers views of some of Taipei's landmarks.

The hotel facilities are thoughtfully designed with great attention to detail. I especially loved the shower – the water pressure was excellent, and the temperature control was precise and easy to use. The room was spotlessly clean with no strange odors. Soundproofing was fantastic, making for a very quiet stay. The bed was super comfortable, just the right balance of soft and firm. The sofa was spacious enough to lie down on and sleep comfortably. The hotel staff were polite and gentle, always willing to help, truly providing a five-star level of service. I felt safe and secure throughout my stay. They offered services like postcard mailing and even arranged a taxi for me in the early hours of the morning. They also provided perfectly packaged chopsticks, knives, and forks, everything was just perfect and to my satisfaction. Overall, it was a very comfortable stay, and I cherish the wonderful memories I made. Thank you! 🙏

The hotel is beside the main Taipei station which is very convenient to move about in the city and to other cities via the High speed train or the conventional train. The room is big enough and the breakfast is good with variety of choices. The hotel also give free coffee voucher for their cafe 21 at level 1. The room cleaner is very friendly and happy to clean our room everyday. There is family mart and 7-11 beside the hotel. The hotel is kind enough to keep our luggages for few days as their service when we want to travel light to Taichung for few days. Worth the stay indeed.

We had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. The location is great, the rooms are quiet, clean, and well-maintained, with daily housekeeping and complete replenishment of amenities. We also appreciated the express check-in and check-out, which made the process smooth and convenient. The buffet breakfast offered a good variety of options, and we especially liked that hotpot was included. Since we had an early flight, the hotel also accommodated our request for packed breakfast, which we truly appreciated. One small suggestion for improvement: better internal coordination among staff regarding guest requests. We requested packed breakfast before arrival and again at check-in, but during our last day some staff were not aware of the arrangement, although it was eventually prepared. Clear endorsement of guest requests within the team would make the experience even smoother. Overall, the hotel provides very good service, comfortable rooms, and a convenient location. We would definitely recommend staying here.

Beitou Hot Spring Area Taipei|11.12km from city centre
1. Misleading Entrance Signage Upon arrival, we followed the signage pasted on a pillar that directed guests to a staircase entrance. However, when we reached that entrance, we were shocked to find the door marked with the sign “来宾止步” (“Guests Stop Here”). When we raised this with your staff, we were told that this entrance has not been in use since the COVID-19 period. While we understand that certain operations may have changed during the pandemic, COVID-19 restrictions have ended for more than two years. If the primary entrance has been permanently closed, why has no corrective action been taken and the misleading signage still left there? Carrying heavy luggage up and down a sloped path unnecessarily was frustrating and avoidable. 2. No Staff Assistance or Clear Signage at the New Entrance When we finally located the new entrance, there were no staff members on standby to assist us, nor was there any clear external signage indicating that this was the correct way to access the lobby. The explanation given later was that all staff were away assisting with parking which is not acceptable. At least one person should have been assigned to remain at the entrance, or the last person leaving should have arranged for another colleague to cover the position. In addition, the Operations Director mentioned that there is signage inside the new entrance directing guests to take the elevator to the lobby. However, this logic is flawed. If guests cannot locate the correct entrance in the first place, how could they possibly see a sign placed inside? 3. Poorly Trained and Unprofessional Front Desk Behavior After struggling outside, we called the number listed on Google. Only then did someone finally come out and lead us in. By that time, we were exhausted and upset. When we confronted the front desk staff about why they ignored us, despite us clearly visible outside the “来宾止步” glass door, making eye contact and knocking for help, but they claimed they “did not see us.” This excuse was clearly untrue, as we observed them looking in our direction. Even more disappointing, none of the front desk staff offered an apology even until we requested to speak to the Operations Director and asked him to review the CCTV footage. After reviewing the footage, the Operations Director confirmed that the front desk had not been alert and apologized on their behalf. However, he did not acknowledge that the front desk’s attitude and lack of sincerity were also serious problems. Being “not alert enough” and showing no sense of apology or empathy are two entirely different issues. As an international hotel, the front desk is the first impression of your service. Regardless of the quality of your facilities, this poor experience completely overshadowed the positive aspects of our stay. It also severely damages the reputation of Kagaya Group — a brand that has long been admired for its exemplary Japanese hospitality and politeness. Although we appreciate the Operations Director’s effort to make amends by offering us a meal and gifts (which we declined), it remains undeniable that this incident reflects a failure in staff training and management oversight. We hope that management will seriously review this incident, especially the issues of: - Inadequate and misleading signage at the entrance - Lack of staff presence and assistance upon guest arrival - Poor front desk awareness and unprofessional behavior We trust that Kagaya Group will uphold its proud tradition of service by addressing these problems promptly and ensuring no other guests experience such treatment in the future. Thank you for your attention.

I really want to rate this hotel well but it was the worst sleep. Hd to rearrange my plans, delay early starts and survived by involuntarily falling asleep on public transport. For objectivity, I will commend the good parts while also sharing my horror. Pros: Checked in 2hrs early w/ upgraded room. Washing machine/dryer/detergent on 3F. Kind housekeeping staff. 24hr reception. Receptionists speak good english. Big TV. Decent wifi. Fridge, hairdryer in drawer, kettle, slipers, desk/chair. Good water temperature. Smart toilet but loud. Many lights so the 'no windows' didn't bother me as I anticipated. Given 2 key cards. Provided water bottles. Comfortable pillows. Ideal location, next to Taipei Main Station, 15-20min walk from Ximendeng if you're conflicted between the two locations like I was. Cons: Worst soundproofing ever. Not much empathy or hospitality for complaints. Limited TV channels, no streaming services or YouTube. No conditioner. Sheets + towels had holes/rips but clean. Tips: Use the lifts at the back of the building, less busier. From Main Station, follow signs for the underground mall or exits beginning with Z. If the closest lift exit is blocked, use the next nearest lift and cross the road. Ask people for help if you are lost, don't waste your time. I preferred buses honestly. Withdraw cash from the Cathay United Bank ATM in the underground mall (no extra fees like other ATMs), defer conversion so your bank chooses the exchange rates (ook up a video online to see how it works if you are confused). Airport taxis park in the front of the hotel (at least mine did at 3am). I am a fairly light sleeper so I packed earplugs and over-ear headphones in fear of the sound issues people reported. All I heard for the majority of my stay was my hellish neighbours going in and out their room, ringing their doorbell (each room has 1 outside, cool feature but should be disabled late night), and door slamming (if someone does not hold the door for a light close). I tend to sleep late anyway so I shrugged it off the first time. The following nights, the same noises continued, every few minutes (not exaggerating) until 2/3am. Even with earplugs AND over ear headphones AND clothes covering my ears, I was woken up anytime I was remotely close to sleep. As a solo traveller, I was scared to confront them but other neighbours (who are even further from the noisy group) complained. On my last day, I had to complain too since I had to get up before 3am for my flight. The staff said that they were aware of this and that a large group was staying next door (turns out the hotel offers rooms that fit 8 people.. lol) and that they would report it to the leader. I suggested that the door closing could be done lightly and they could call instead of use the doorbell but receptionist did not seem to care and brushed me off. I did not expect any apology but a little empathy would have meant a lot to a person who has gotten less than 7hrs sleep total the past few days. Thanks to the report I was able to sleep by 1am, a real record... I am a tolerant person but I really suffered because of bad soundproofing and lack of attentiveness from the hotel. I know it is not the hotel's fault that I had an unlucky situation. However, there are SO many complaints on soundproofing that the hotel should do something about it. Invest in soundproofing, install something to make the doors close slowly on its own. It costs nothing to remind guests (esp. big groups) during check-ins to be mindful especially after midnight, give a penalty fee for those who don't comply, offer guests who complain about noise an alternate room if available - anything... I specifically requested for a quiet room when booking - how is being next to a 6/8 people room going to be quiet? Would have paid more just to have the unupgraded room. The pros are fantastic, but decent sleep is a basic necessity for any hotel. I hope this review is helpful to others considering!

The hotel is conveniently located near Taipei Main Station, which made it very easy to get there from the airport. The building is quite tall, and the room offered a nice river view, which was a pleasant bonus during the stay. Although the room itself was a bit small, it was clean and comfortable, and overall the value for money was excellent. I had a pleasant stay at Ilume Hotel Taipei. The hotel offers a nice city view and is very conveniently located, with easy access to public transportation. There are also plenty of convenience stores and dining options nearby, which made everything very convenient during our stay. The room we stayed in was one of the refurbished rooms, and it was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. Overall, the room quality was quite good and met our expectations. That said, the service could be improved slightly, as response time and attentiveness were sometimes a bit slow. Nevertheless, it did not significantly affect our overall experience. Overall, Ilume Hotel Taipei is a good choice for travelers looking for comfort, accessibility, and value for money. I would consider staying here again in the future.

Stayed at the Regent for our 20 year anniversary. The room was very clean, perfect temperature, and they offered a welcome snack. There weren't any personalised welcomes unfortunately but the room was great. They no longer offer disposable bathroom amenities like toothbrush, toothpaste, cotton, combs, hair brush etc, you need to bring your own. We had the pleasure of enjoying Tai Pan Lounge. They are open 24/7 for tea and coffee but offer snacks during breakfast, lunch, and dinner for a specific period. We also enjoyed the spa. They don't have communal wet facilities, only in the room, so your time there is limited depending on the treatment you booked. They do have a health and fitness club in B3 though where you can enjoy such facilities at your leisure. We had our anniversary dinner at Robins Grill and it was perfect. Service was amazing, food was exquisite, and the vibe was so pleasant. Definitely coming back to Robins Grill, it was our second time there! Overall, our stay was beautiful and we didn't want to leave.

It was quite good. Easy to find from nanjing sanmin station, near raohe night market, easy to reach the waterfront running path, close to many 7/11s, breakfast areas and a morning market near the nanjing sanmin station. Offers dry cleaning but for normal travellers, self service laundry is available nearby

Hotel is in a good location if you want to be close to the main station. But it has a bit of a old school feeling to it, especially because there are no power plugs next to the bed what is a bit annoying. The carpet is a bit too fluffy for my taste (and hygiene). Room in the 3rd floor was in the side street and rather loud. Being able to store my luggage there during the day was a plus.

Great location near Ximending night market and bus stops. Friendly staff, some even speak a bit of Thai. They also allow you to leave your luggage before check-in and after check-out. Super convenient!

Six-star recommendation! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1. The room was incredibly clean and comfortable, making for a truly wonderful stay. The sheets and duvet covers were spotless, and the bathrobes smelled lovely! 2. The front desk service was excellent; they helped us with taxis and restaurant reservations. Everyone's service was top-notch, especially the barista at the cafe. The coffee is delicious, so definitely give it a try if you stay here! ☕ I had the hot Americano, and I ordered about five or six cups from check-in to check-out. 😂 I usually grind my own beans at home, so I have pretty high standards for coffee. 3. The location is superb. It's only a 10-minute walk to Sogo, so no need for a taxi. There are plenty of great restaurants, bubble tea shops, and convenience stores nearby. 4. The price is very reasonable. Considering the service level, cleanliness, excellent location, and overall experience, this hotel offers great value compared to others. I highly recommend it! This stay was truly superb. 😋

The rooms were modern, spacious, and impeccably clean, with comfortable beds and excellent soundproofing that made it easy to rest. The bathroom was well-designed, featuring modern fixtures and good water pressure, which made the stay feel very comfortable. The hotel staff were professional, friendly, and attentive, always ready to assist with any request. Breakfast offered a great variety of fresh options, and the lobby area was welcoming with plenty of seating The location was also excellent, with easy access to nearby attractions and transportation. I had an excellent stay at the Grand Hyatt Taipei. The location is unbeatable—right next to Taipei 101 and in the heart of the Xinyi district, making it so convenient for sightseeing, shopping, and dining. From the moment I arrived, the service was warm and attentive. The lobby is beautiful and welcoming, and the staff always greeted me with a smile. My room was spacious, very clean, and well-designed, with a comfortable bed and a great view of Taipei 101. Housekeeping kept everything spotless during my stay. Breakfast was another highlight—the buffet had a wide variety of delicious choices, both Western and Asian, and everything was fresh. I also appreciated the hotel facilities, especially the gym and pool, which were well maintained. Overall, I highly recommend the Grand Hyatt Taipei for anyone visiting the city. It truly delivers a luxury experience with comfort, excellent service, and perfect location. I will definitely stay here again on my next trip to Taipei.

Summary of the Taipei MRT – Why It’s a Game-Changer

Taipei MRT Single-Journey Ticket Issuing, IC Card Vending/Top-up

After exploring Taipei from morning until night every day, I can honestly say that the Taipei MRT system made my trip so much easier, cheaper, and more fun. 😄 I didn’t need to worry about expensive taxis, complicated routes, or getting lost in a new city.

With the Taipei MRT map in one hand and my EasyCard in the other, I managed to:

  • Catch the sunset at Tamsui Old Street 🌅
  • Unwind in the Beitou hot springs ♨️
  • Feast your way through the Shilin and Raohe night markets 🍢
  • Take the Maokong Gondola for tea with a view 🍵
  • Hike up Elephant Mountain and snap some photos of Taipei 101 📸

And all this was just a few MRT stops away!

The trains are spotless, the stations are clearly signposted, and the connections are incredibly smooth. As someone used to packed trains and complicated bus transfers, I was seriously impressed! 🙌
