Santa Juana Lodge & Nature Reserve

My husband and I incorporated Santa Juana Lodge into our honeymoon trip and it was an absolutely stunning pleasure of an experience. Right from the beginning all staff were so welcoming and friendly and our lodge was just stunning. Clean, stocked with all we needed, and a beautiful view you can only get by making the trip into the mountains. I saw a couple reviews complain of the drive but all I can say is that if you want the experience of being somewhere so authentically beautiful and off the grid, you need to expect a bit of off-roading style driving to get to it. Allan was very helpful with his recommendations of what time to catch sight of the best birds right outside of our lodge, what to do while we visited, and even how to make our food even more authentic (sauces to try, combinations) and Andres was so sweet remembering our coffee preferences and noting that we should take our vehicle with us when visiting the waterfall because I was pregnant and the hike back would be long and steep (thank goodness he made us think twice because it would have been quite the trek) We loved the waterfall and had it all to ourselves for the few hours we were there. Safe to swim and beautifully kept with seating, pathways, and even changing stalls if needed. The food was delicious and so fresh- we loved that it was authentic and gave us a true taste of costa rican diet. We booked massages as well rather than an excursion as we have lots of others planned for later in our trip and we were so happy we did. It was lovely and there happened to be a storm during the massage which added to the tranquility. 10/10 recommend ❤️
Hotel & Hostel Sloth Backpackers

Loved Sloth Backpackers. The hostel welcomed me with open arms the minute I arrived. Jeff at reception was super helpful! Gave me all the information I needed including the recommended tours. He helped with the shuttles in order to get from place to place. Shared kitchen was very clean as well as the dorm rooms Big bonus… hot water so that’s always fun!!
Cabañas Valle Campanas - Monteverde, Costa Rica

We stayed here for two nights while exploring Monte Verde. The location was fantastic - we could walk into town for dinner (beware the way there very much uphill - great for us but may be difficult for some), but back at the hotel it was quiet and the grounds were beautiful. It felt like a real escape. Our kids loved the dogs and the hammock, and raved about the gallo pinto. Because the property is big, the cabins are pretty spread out, so we didn’t worry about our kids being kids and making some noise. The folks who run the place are lovely and helpful. Would definitely stay here again if we head back to Monteverde!
Hotel Don Taco

We stayed there for a night and had great time. We typically don't spend much time in our hotel and this was no exception. However, the beds were good and the room was clean. Great balcony with an amazing view. Sure the TV was ancient but who cares! The complimentary welcome drinks don't include any alcohol but the juice was great and we thought the food was fine and we enjoyed it. It is a climb if getting there by foot. We drove so that was not a problem. One thing that I will say is that it was very, very windy up there. The wind was whipping at our balcony door all night and I was waiting for it to shatter. It did not happen of course but it did keep me up since I am a light sleeper-- everybody else slept fine. They even liked the sound of the wind whipping away at the room. In addition to the balcony in our room, which is big enough for yoga, etc, there is a communal balcony as well, where you one can do yoga, enjoy the view, or hang out and talk to others in the sun. Overall, our stay was excellent and we enjoyed it. While there we did the night tour, zipline, and walked around and ate in the town center.

Danta Corcovado Lodge

We stayed here for 3 nights and absolutely loved the place, although the first night we were a bit frightened of the jungle noises outside our lodge which was a few hundred yards from reception along unlit gravel paths! The lodge itself is clever designed with two walls being almost entirely netted windows and an outside bathroom which took a little bit of getting used to. It was an incredible structure and design . The beds were very comfortable and clean and the room was fairly well-sealed from the outside environment, although the occasional spider did breach. The food was excellent, we ate breakfast and dinner all 3 nights and loved the fish with basil sauce, chips, and tuna steak. The staff are amazingly helpful and friendly at all times. Omelettes at breakfast were great served with gallop pinto, and lovely tropical fruit selection every morning plus fruit juice. The coffee is good, as with most places we stayed in Costa Rica. There is tea and coffee available throughout the day which we enjoyed sitting in the reception area, watching the spider monkeys in the trees directly above.
