ScubaHaleyMy husband and I loved our stay here. The family that runs this guethouse was so kind and knowledgable. The area was excellent for site seeing around Samarkand, which was very helpful during early mornings when we were trying to beat the crowds and the heat. This is technically a hostel, our room and private bathroom was fairly small, but this is reflected accurately on the booking and suited us very well. They also gave great advice as to what to do, where to eat, and where to skip. The breakfast was also lovely.

Guest UserThe hostel is located in the Old Town, which is convenient as the bus stop is only a 3-minute walk away. However, it's situated in a small alley, and there's a stretch of road without streetlights when returning from the main square, which felt a bit unsafe at night.
The owner was always helpful in solving various issues, for example, when I wanted to boil a couple of eggs in the morning.
There's a water dispenser available in the common area, which is handy.
The day before I checked in, guests reported no hot water, initially thinking it was due to late-night usage. The next day, it was still cold. When asked, the owner said a circuit breaker had tripped. Once fixed, the water was very hot, so it's important to report any problems promptly.
It was advertised as a 4-bed dorm, but it was actually a 5-bed dorm, which was quite a surprise. The owner claimed it couldn't be changed on the platform, a reason I found hard to accept. Even if the main listing couldn't be altered, they could have added a note in the remarks section. Otherwise, it feels like deception, especially for a 'non-refundable' booking where no money is returned. This was the case for both the female and male dorms.
With many guests staying, the cleanliness of the common areas struggled to keep up.
Also, I didn't seem to find any lockable personal lockers.
The owner, who uses a wheelchair, runs this hostel, which is commendable, and the price is good. However, the issues mentioned above do exist. Luckily, I only stayed for one night as a stopover.

I didn't take pic of the room as it is basic but spacious enough. The hotel is strategically located in between various sightseeing sites. For travellers who opt for tram and bus, you choose the right location because opposite the hotel just accross the road, there is a tramvay stop and bus stop. Tramvay goes to and for the main train station if you are departing for Tashkent or Bukhara. While bus goes around the city. Take bus 22 to go around the city area such as Registan centre. Take bus 31 to and for airport. Really convenient, affordable, and I highly recommend it.

The room was spacious and in good condition. The bed and lighting were excellent, and the front desk staff were incredibly helpful, meeting all our needs! There's a huge supermarket just steps away, with everything you need.
The only downside is that it's 3 kilometers from the main tourist attractions, but taxis are cheap, so it's not inconvenient at all.
